maybe it was supposed to be the ORIGINAL epoch you got from Belthishazar (or however the hell his name is spelled) before Dalton stole it and put wings on it, but took out the hover feature and just made it static since having it hover like that had no bearing on the plot whatsover.

A little late to post this but, balthazar is one of the sages of time from 12000 bc that got sent into the future, along with melchior and gaspar, gaspar being the one you meet at the end of time, melchior the one who fixes masamune, and balthazar the one who gives you the epoch originally.

Another fact most people don't know is that the 3 sages are named after the magi's alleged names in later legend, the magi being the 3 kings that followed the star to jesus.

in the town square, where you got the japenese(?) message, that was there for developers to get the epoch at any time. but they never redid it into the new NON hovercraft epoch
