  • It's pretty simple to me. There is a difference between health, and healthcare. If you eat a healthy diet, eat mostly organic foods, without pesticides, preservatives, and growth hormones.....Regularly do colon cleanses, liver detoxes....There is a great chance you won't get sick, and won't need healthcare...It's our responsibility to take care of our health, not the government's responsibility to provide us healthcare...

  • i totally agree with you BUT we will need some type of healthcare system provided by the government and since ron paul is a physicican himself im sure he can do something to make ours better!

  • colon cleanses are bullshit

  • It was a liberal commie doctor and an HMO that killed my husband for negligence in not giving him a simple test when he needed it, and when it could have saved his life... :-(

  • You think healthcare is expensive now? Wait until its free.

  • making more med schools isn't really the answer; because you have to raise taxes to do that. The government should get out of funding universities altogether... because the taxes that pay for people to get university degrees and go on to make $100,000 are paid by people making $20,000 a year.

  • Exactly; the way to solve the crisis by allowing more people to become doctors by eliminating the barriers to entry. Allow market forces to work to keep prices down; all the socailism does is hide the prices and tells you it's "free", all the while downgrading the burden from individuals to the working class. It is a lie, an evil lie because it sounds so appetizing... but it hurts so much. More government is not the solution to the problem, it is the problem.

  • Right on. As I've told many people that want a National Social Healthcare system, if you eventually want one, you better elect Ron Paul to fix our whole Government and Economy first, then MAYBE we'll have enough money to fund one, otherwise, it'll just be one more tax on the middle-class, and honestly, we can't afford it right now. Maybe somewhere in the future, but with the Federal Reserve running America, it'd be a REALLY bad idea. Take care and peace be with you.

  • Fallenvirtue, WOW someone whom has a comment that makes sense. I think you have been doing your homework.

  • easiest way to do that would be more med schools. Don't make it easier... Nobody wants a shittier doctor. But if you make more med schools you'll have a lot happier kids and doctors flying out faster

  • More med schools---or more doctors anyway--is the only means of improvement. All else is smoke and mirrors.

  • I'll go for anything that gets rid of massive profits by pharmaceutical and insurance companies. I think there should be a bare minimum health care system provided by the government. There's no reason that socialized medicine of this sort could not take place at the state level. I'm pretty sure that what will happen is that payment to the evil corps will just become mandatory, but at least then we'll be covered if we need it.

  • The business world is structured on risk assessment. Is it cheaper to fix the airplanes or pay the settlements when one crashes from maintenance neglect. In respect, is it better to get us sick and have us treated after it's too late using pills and surgeries to maintain our exisitence. The prevention method wouldn't bring in the big bucks. Why settle for the Chevy when you can get the Benz? Hopefully Dr. Paul feels the same way on this issue as he does the rest.

  • The reality of the healthcare crisis in this country can be blamed on just more than the HMO, Insurance Industry and Government.

What sits at the core of this conspiracy is economic necessity for Americans to be sick. Tobacco, junk food and food additive , Pharmaceutical industries, the FDA and the AMA conspire to keep us sick. The fact is we would be in recession without it.

  • If you remove the government restrictions placed on insurance corps, what's to stop them from making all their profit? I mean, their shareholders and such enjoy all that profit, so they'd most likely continue to try and make it... right? I like Ron's ideas but I don't think it will turn out exactly the way he thinks it will.

UHC systems might be the only fix. =/

  • Perhaps you missed the point. The reason that insurance corps charge so much is because of said regulation. The government has encourage insurance corps. to supply good deals to employers, but not to the consumer and individual. Hence, high rates right now, unless you work for a company that has great benefits. In a Free-Market, there wouldn't be this bias, and people would get lower prices through competition. The government is hindering that competition a great deal right now.

  • Oh wow. 2 Honors. That's sweet. I never expected to hit in the top 100 for anything. Now I got a Top Favorites video for today, and it's #18 at that, freaking awesome. Thanks to all the supporters and naysayers out there. That's just groovy. Peace be with you all!

  • What about those of us who think that money grubbing politicians, pharmaceutical corporations and international insurance corporations have our best interests at heart??? Shouldn't we be allowed to force everyone to pay for our ignorance through increased medical costs that only the rich and those employed by corporations can afford? What could a Doctor actually know about medical issues anyway?

    Just kiddin! Ron Paul 2008!

  • I tell ya, what's really scary, is there are people that think that way. That every single person is out to get them. I used to, then my boy Ron Paul showed up at the door and said, "Hey, there's hope!" :)

Another essay explaining why the problem with U.S. healthcare system is caused by government intervention restricting competition.

  • Agreed. Socialized healthcare is not the answer.

Not to mention...socialized anything is just plain un-American. I'm not saying socialism is evil, but it just has no place in this country.

  • Yet again, I agree 100%. America isn't about the social aspect, in terms of government, it's about the individual. If you take care of the individual, then your 'groups' are just fine.

  • Great video.

Other barriers to competition are the AMA and the thousands of laws we have on the book, esp drug laws that limit what we can buy. Let individuals keep their money and decide how to spend it.

For example, when my back starts acting up, i know exactly what medication helps it, but i need to waste my time and insurers money on a doctors visit, and the doctor wastes money by charging the insurer for redundant tests.

Free us Dr Paul! Let me keep my money and choose my care!

  • I agree 100%. Keep up the good fight :)

  • A lot of excess health care cost is there because doctor-politicians, lawyers, and government have united and tell the doctor the best way to do it. TEST,TEST,TEST!! A CT for appendicitis! It has been shown to be a waste of money and increases the risk of complications! Just for a simple thing like getting a case of appendicitis! But then, doctors would have to start thinking again!

  • I had been trying to counter an argument against Universal Health Care. Thank-you for the information.

  • Of course, anytime :)

  • Yes thank you. I'm finding myself 'schooled' by Ron Paul more and more. The dude has something rational, factual, and intelligent to say about everything!

    Death to sound bite!

  • Its hard to argue with Ron Paul's assessment of the issue when he presents it so plainly and when the argument makes so much common sense.

  • Totally agree with you. I used to think Social Healthcare was a good idea, now that I've seen a 'real' argument against it, I understand that Free-Market healthcare is leagues better than Social. I hope most people realize this. The problem is how much the Media has destroyed actual logical debate on this issue. They ignore the trial lawyers' and government's influence on the healthcare system.

  • Free-Market Healthcare wasn't really given a fair chance. Social Healthcare will just help to weaken the middle-class even more.
