this really helped me when i was having trouble i really love this guy he is really helpful! OMG! HELP ME I NEED AN EASER THERES A RED SMUDGE ON THE LIKE BAR! lol
When I try doing vibrato, the only thing that shakes is my finger...not my wrist or arm... Is that correct? Like is there such a thing called finger vibrato? XD
@YamadaKumiko97 - If you mean that you finger is doing the pivoting, this is correct. However your wrist and or arm should be moving back and forth. If you have established a smooth pivoting movement in your fingers you are on the right track. :-)
@1stfiddlerman i actually i thought your video was very helpful, the other comment was just my sister getting furstrated. sorry. she just start really playing the violin and she wants to do everything perfectly.
@Chidera96 - LOL, no problem. I wasn't offended. I really do look for ways to better explain things though. I made another vibrato video called "Vibrato Mechanics" which is probably easier to understand.
Check it out - replace the end with ...... watch?v=vWdHld_KfIM
@patmon1293 - It is OK for your violin to move when vibrating as long as it doesn't destroy your sound. I can keep it still by holding more securely but prefer to avoid tension. If your bow technique is good enough it won't be heard. I think that it is important to be relaxed when playing and therefor recommend not squeezing too much. However, if I am playing ppp (extremely soft) and want an intensive vibrato I'll hold the violin a bit more securely between my collar bone and chin.
@221Dw - That is a great question. Having the thumb higher up is great for playing way up in the positions when you need to reach. Don't worry so much about where your thumb is but I don't usually have it SO high. Have your thumb where it feels comfortable. In first position you can have it much higher. Please check the latest vibrato video that ends with v=vWdHld_KfIM
@RakanishuKitty - Maybe you need a smaller violin. If you play on a 4/4 you might need a 3/4 size violin.
To choose the right size violin you must measure from the middle of the left palm to the neck. Stretch out the left arm and hand fully perpendicular to body (towards the side) Less than 600mm you should have a smaller violin.
@RakanishuKitty - Also make sure that you bring the arm more under the violin to get around better. This will be better for the angle of the fingers as well. Watch this video ending with v=vWdHld_KfIM

Is the thumb position your using there for vibrato the normal position you keep it in? It seems kind of low.
