I picked up MGS4 a couple months ago for like $20 and it blew my fucking mind. Now I wanna play all the (main canon) MGS games. I'll probably download MGS1 off of PSN, and I'll grab this when it gets remade for the 3DS. I'll see if I can find Peace Walker next time I'm at a GameStop. Not sure how I'll get a hold of 2, though. I'll have to keep my eyes open.

@quakov Too late, already bought it. :P It was only $8, though, so if it's as bad as you say, I won't feel ripped off or anything. Anyway, I've played all of the opening tanker level with Snake, and I'm just starting the part with Raiden (i.e. The rest of the game) and it doesn't seem too bad so far. The controls are kind of a bitch, but it seems alright. Also, I am fully aware that the game descends into madness in the last hour or two. ("I NEED SCISSORS! 61!" and "Infinite Ammo" come to mind.)

In the very first game the box art was based on Michael Biehn though.

Also Roy Campbell is based on Richard Crennas character from Rambo.

And I think Gray Fox was supposed to be based on Tom Berenger.

BEST FUCKING METAL GEAR GAME EVER!!!!!!! after playing through the eyes of the real hero, Big Boss, the whole metal gear experience changed for the sympathy you will forever feel for this one man that lost everything. I hope they remake this one for ps3, 4,5,6,7,8,9,10!!And peace walker for PSP is also an awesome game that ties alot of Big Boss' story. Shit honestly, IMO fuck solid snake, he was always just a puppet. The real heroes are Big boss, Eva,Ocelot,Raiden,Naomi,Gray fox and Campbell.

The story and boss fights are the best in the series. I beat this game like 5 times, subsistence was a huge factor. All metal gear games are amazing, with so many easter eggs and refrences to past games, Kojima knows fan service. We're not worthy Kojima! Bring on MGS5!

I dunno. I still think MGS 4 was a better game, but MGS 3 is easily the 2nd best if you look at how much the gameplay evolved from MGS 2. There's just so many fun things you can do. However, I thought that even though the plot was pretty good, there were way too many gimmicky Bond cliches. Seriously, just watch the game's opening credits and see what i mean.

I like how the first two minutes of this trailer is pretty much every brutal scene of Snake getting his ass kicked throughout the game.

Anyways, the best part of this game was the Sorrow. His fight, his character, the fact that whenever he was around, it would rain blood. And the parts at the end when he would pop up behind characters, holding a timer.

this is Hideo Kojimas favorite Metal Gear for a reason. By far the best story of any game out there. if you haven't played it, give it a chance. Subsistence added a 3D camera which makes it even better.

Snake may have been designed as a genetic copy of Big Boss in an attempt to create the greatest possible soldier through genetics, but SOMEHOW nature's version (the original Big Boss) is still the greatest of all soldiers.

I find myself listening (not necessarily watching) the Japanese dub on this trailer over and over while doing menial tasks on my computer. At certain times I'll try and duplicate the Cobra's voices and tonality. I really wish Kojima had the option to pick the Japanese dub over English, I'm ESPECIALLY surprised he didn't do that with 4. Despite the original 'fixed camera' MGS3 is an absolutely astonishing game from start to finish and should not be missed. You owe it to yourself as a gamer.
