  • I wish I had the sheet for this were ate some places I can get this stuff

  • I play, and I play that song, and that's too fast I think. I prefer that movement a bit slower.

  • I just can't stop to listen to this. So beautiful

  • la corda de oro? xD

  • He has speed but it comes from double tonguing. Anybody else plays the trumpet besides me? Double tonguing let's you tongue your notes faster to make it not sound slurred at such speeds. Cause if you can't double tongue it's all a slur. Explanation in short: When you tongue it doesn't sound slurred.

  • @ILOVECLASSICALify I play the trumpet!

  • Did Haydn write the trumpet solo that starts at 3:43, or was it just the player improvising?

  • @Ventriscosa Its a cadenza, its supposed to feel improvised, but its written

  • It may be fast, but damn is his tone well rounded, and his articulation is flawless.

  • This makes me want to two step to the beat. yessir

  • Not russia.

  • @Max45020 Not Russia? U crazy

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • @justplayfm R u a fan of justplay.fm

  • Ah! This one of the old-style 3-movement pieces!

  • ...many US citizens like "classical" music (and Baroque. And Romantic. And Modern. And Renaissance, etc...) Who knew?

  • I find it so...interesting, to be polite...that instead of people enjoying the Haydn trumpet concernto here (whether or not they like the "articulation," vibrato, tempo, etc), there is so much unneeded conversation about whether or not the US has produced "a truly great" composer, and just generally the getting into a pissing contest. I am always amazed at this sort of behavior. And yes, many teenagers, many people who like music that doesn't fall into the "classical" category, and yes...

  • @TheWelthawood that is so true is you search any classical music instead of talking about the beauty of the music they bring up justin beiber and compare him to mozart or haydn and bach... i mean why even bring it up?

  • CADENZAS!!!! LOOOVE

  • I'm loving the cadenza in this piece, love haydn

  • I needed to know this great piece for my music class final, and I've listened to it so much that now it is stuck in my head. Not a bad thing, to tell you the truth. A very energetic piece and a great example of early classical music.

  • The Legend Of Snow White

  • Ok, yea it is a good piece, but if you have to listen to it every day, there is something really sad about your life.

  • @MrConnorFossil

I don't think you should be judging anyone based on the music they listen to. I'd rather listen to this than the mumbo jumbo on today's radio. How sad I must be! If an individual chooses to appreciate good music, be it every day, respect their decision for listening to such a wonderful piece rather than criticising, after all, you're listening to it as well. Don't be a loonie. Peace :)

  • @ashieeb93

I am not one for mainstream either. I hate R&B, Drum & Bass, and most others in the charts. I like the clash and bands like that. Bearing in mind that I am a teenager.

  • @MrConnorFossil keep in mind that i'm also a teenager and I don't really care if you like classical music. it doesn't matter at all... anybody can enjoy it and it's not rare for a teenager to like classical music. and hell... I LOVE CLASSICAL MUSIC!!!

  • A világ LEGJOBB trombitaversenye.

Jó lenne MIND A HÁROM TÉTELT EGYBEN meghallgatni!

  • is so catchy. i find myself whistling this tune everywhere i go, heh.

  • @ashieeb93 So true, I cant stop listening to this, I listen to it just about everyday, something about it I cant get enough lol Especially the trumpet!

  • @ashieeb93 That is very very sad

  • @MrConnorFossil

mm. i often go out of tune as whistling is not my primary instrument, but i do try.

  • Like all music this is very expressive!

  • my brother just played this for his college senior recital on the Eb trumpet.

  • The tempo is wrong it is to fast

  • @musicmaddan1 shhhh...

  • @musicmaddan1 Yes, the tempo is slightly off. But it doesn't change the fact that it is a great piece.

  • @TheMeanerKitty yes it is a great piece

  • @TheMeanerKitty yes it is a great piece

  • This is one of the rare cases where I prefer the 3rd movement rather than the first one!

  • I agree with " athanoradamast "

  • Anyone know who the soloist is?

  • my husband played this to get into the university of minnesota many years ago- played it from memory and got 1st chair trumpet.

  • @kutiepie60 sounds cool

  • Cool!!

  • I'm 16 and I can play the concerto quite good, it's not perfect but I'm still working on it!

  • @lenz50a im only 15 and i can play this very well too...it takes about 5 months to do this so you just need to first start slow and acurate then you can play the actual tempo

  • I play the piano and can play this

  • @TheLegobatmanmovies check you

  • cadenza = epic +beast

  • watch?v=C8ytHayuRX4 look.at.this.link.!

    is.very..wow..jejeje.!!

  • Too fast. Well played but the tempo is wrong.

  • i'm learning to play the theme to Surprise Symphony on my clarinet (:

  • This is impressive!

  • Finally, a lively recording and not the usual, boring, ethereal peformance. Baroque and classicla music are rock, not old man soup!

  • SWELL!

  • Stunning performance. Nice to hear this piece played by a "real" orchestra and a trumpet soloist who's over seventeen years old !! Why must all of the other performances of this piece on YouTube be played by children? This was a great recording too.

  • @Jeffbear1 Now now, some children could actually play this, and well.

  • Haha, my brother plays trumpet, and that is normally annoying. But this...this is just gracious and beautiful. :)))))

  • @DookuLeeCarter thank you very much

  • Fantastico

  • DJ Otada!

  • j adore je m en lasse pas

  • why the solo part from 3:41 to 4:50 is not performed when I listen to other trumpet performers playing this movement? I've listened to a few here in youtube and they "jump" over that part

  • @XabiDellugo

if you see the note, there are written 'cadenza', but i havent heard it too in other performances

  • I admit I am probably one of the older contributors to this discussion on trumpets. I have the advantage of attending a clinic by Mendez and seeing him in concert when I was in high school. His life story is worth a movie. As a youngster he played bugle for Pancho Villa. He suffered an accident to the mouth and he recovered from it all to become one of the best at his craft who ever lived. Just an opinion but he was awesome to watch. Technique, breath control. The best. Thanks

  • I am a metalhead, and i freaking enjoy classical music, just like 70% of heavy music headbangers.

  • BaJeezus This is a freakin' SPEEDY tempo of this song!

  • I don't think this guy has as good as sound as Wynton, but he's really good.

  • Sorry, but it's horrbile played! Too fast (and I don't think it's the conducters fault, they normally take the tempi of the soloist, maybe he was soloist and conducter..), bad sound, technical stuff sounds too hard, he resqueezes the notes (I don't know, whether you can say this word in this context, he produces the sound and then he pushs extra air) and I really don't like his vibrato, the articulation (e.g. 2:40 following) and his cadenza..

  • @PBaer35 I am afraid I must disagree with your analysis of this piece. I do feel it was taken too fast, but it is all in personal preference. The performer did a very good job of playing this song when you take the speed it was played into effect. Again, the sound was also good considering the speed this song was taken. The technical areas were executed perfectly and I only hear one or 2 notes that he re-squeezed. As for vibrato, what do you expect at this speed?

  • @Nuker1337 Not trying to start a fight or anything between you, This is just a statement, There are Americans who actually love music. Just not many. Where you have to start and love music right from the get-go is school. From school you move on to more challenging pieces of music, This is only where it starts.

  • Man, Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven are all from Europe. How come they get all the famous composers?

  • Europeans are good musicians? And there are many more then Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven. Also though in the Western world, Western composers tend to be more known then those of other cultures.

  • @andrewkicksmajorass maybe because the USA didnt exist when they were alive, and because the western world does not really accept music from other parts of the world with great contempt

  • becaus Europe owns

oh and the USA didnt exist when they were alive

  • i really liked this piece of music

  • Dj Otada

  • I have this exact same recording. The person playing is Ludwig Gutler (sp). I believe that's how his name is spelt. It was released on laser light digital recording in a cd 10 pack. I believe it was called 100 greatest classical hits? Or something of that nature...

  • i could listen to this cadenza for days

but the fact that theres no end is killing me inside haha

  • Very tidy trumpet work. I mean compared to some others i have listened to, this is by far the nicest, and fastest.

  • Who plays the trumpet ?

  • Awesome people. That's who.

  • see my post above.

  • truley gods work

  • I'm in my happy place now! l - )

  • Superb cadenza!

  • I can not see who is the soloist !?

  • is that in rondo form?

  • yes this is in a fast rondo form. themes are repeated, the strings provide the first theme, and the trumpet repeats first theme. =]

  • Of Course, it's Haydn :)

  • for gradwhan's information Pleyel was french and Liszt was hungarian , so keep on studying

  • I love this song soo much =)

  • Germany and western Europe has given us some of the most brilliant musical composers of all time. I'm saying this as an American.....

  • Haydn is an Austrian! As well as Mozart, Schubert, Strauss, Czerny, Dittersdorf , Bruckner, Hummel, Liszt, Ligeti and Pleyel. No problem!

  • Austria is of Germanic decent...

  • yeah, plus Bach and Beethoven are from Germany

  • Russia produced many amazing composers too, in my opinion, Russia was the best place for composers in the romantic era.

I'm not Russian by the way.

  • @minion6500 Don't forget Austria and Russia.

  • That's not true, you can't say that about any nationality.

I love the work of Copland (American)

    Holst (British)

    Tchaikovsky (Russian)

    and lots more.

Each country has great composers, it is not fair to say that one nation writes better music.

  • Comment removed

  • I can't name any Zimbabwean composers, but that certainly is not to say that people from Zimbabwe can't compose great music.

  • Your nationality doesn't determine whether or not you are skilled at composing...

And if you're referring to Haydn, he was Austrian.

  • that's true Haydn was an Austrian. Although Austria is such a small country, there are lots of good composers.

  • @gradwhan Austria, and especially Vienna attracted good composers from all over Europe during the Wiener Klassik and Romantic Eras in much the same way as Los Angeles attracts actors and directors today.

  • lol

  • @ardley216 I know of no truly great American composer. The only half-decent ones I know of write movie soundtracks, which of course mostly are ripped from the great composers of Europe.

  • @Nuker1337 sarcsm.. there are not true great american composers.. personally im a huge fan of elgar, schubert, (wont even attempt to spell it) thaikoski..

  • performed it today for the first time in my performance class! Deffinantly liked this cadenza a lot better then the one i play!

  • Jang Hak Quiz main theme

  • one of my absolute favorites. i love listening to all of the different instruments and how they lead to others and the flow. it helps me with my schoolwork and art.

  • DUDE!! THAT'S CHARMING!!

  • Performed by Ludwig Guttler and New Bach Collegium Musicum Leipzig.

    Conducted by Max Pommer.

    CD:CAPRICCIO 10010

  • Perhaps this is a performance by "Ludwig Guttler".

  • GENIAL!!!

  • the player is very good, but the conducter IGNORES HAYDN, who simply wrote ALLEGRO on the gegin of this movement and not PRESTO

  • Thats not Alison Balsom

  • i think its Alison Balsom

  • It's good that this is on the finals cause its easy to remember lol

  • Eh, I like this concerto, but this version is a bit too fast.

  • I feel like the tonguing of the fast parts is a little heavy...could be lighter. Otherwise very good.

  • there's not too much tonguing going during the fast parts, just the swift movement of the valves

  • i play a Bb

trumpet i wish i could play this

even though its easier to play

    on an Eb trumpet

  • it is the best trumpet man in the world : Maurice Andre french guy yay like me

    long live france!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm quite sure it is NOT Maurice André. The sound quality is totally wrong. Whoever plays that has quite a metallic sound, not the smooth silkiness that André produces. It is not even one of Andrés students because they usually follow his example.

It might be Hakan Hardenberger, but it is a bit hard in sound even for him.

  • does anyone know wherei can find the cadenza for this piece?

  • look for the Edition Maurice André edition published with some French firm.

  • Edtion Maurice André

  • It's an Eb trumpet

  • This one is faster than what I heard before...

  • Agree. Very fast.

  • Sounds like a piccolo trumpet...?

  • I'm playing this song for music scholarships and man it's tough!!!

  • the trumpet player is amazing

  • Anyone know what CD this recording is from?

    Great expressive trumpet playing.

  • this is an amazing song. I love it. as a trumpeteer myself, I must admit it's a REALLY hard song to play, but I love it. I can't play it as smoothly as they can (yet)

  • Ludwig Guttler is the trumpeter.

  • Thanks... can you give other info regarding the recording? This is such a fast, crisp and clear performance, light and quick, just as it should be. Appreciate any info.

    Dr. Scott

  • Nice... which recording is this?

  • we hav to listen to this in music class but its soo fast here. in my class its much slower lol

  • YOU CUT OFF THE ENDING!!!

but you had the cadenza YAY!

  • This is amazingggggg! What a tune :D Mike loves this song, it is his 'top played' song on his itunes!!!!! Wayne truely brings this song to life; although he didnt play it for us :(

    xx
