I used to sing this song as a child (11yrs old) :) One of my favorites of all time. In times of good and in times of darkness, I still remembered this song like as if I was a little child. It popped up again during my spiritual awakening :) Very awesome song!
one evening the lord impressed upon me this song and i was looking though the internet to see what came up when i typed the word silverwind. I knew the song they had sung. I did not know the title. This is absolutely beuatiful and at the same time powerful song. Does anyone know how i can get the lyrics? I would just simply like to read them. Sometimes there is a deeper mesage for me when i read it.
Oh My Gosh!! I Grew up with this Music!! Love it!!! :D Question.. Does Anyone know the name of the song that Georgian did on this Album, with his Electric fiddle?? The opening line is, 'My mother used to tel me 'bout the Bible & the Lord. She used to make me kneel down the that stone cold bedroom floor.' I Can't remember the name of that song & it's one of my Favorites!! Please let me know?? Thanx, Whalefreak
Yesterday I heard SIlverwind for the first time - the first that struck me was: "this is christian ABBA". It's good to hear this kind of music about our Lord.
@mikosoft I totally agree with you. When I listened to their music on the radio in the 80's, I didn't associate their sound with ABBA's, but I did yesterday when I downloaded their music. I love their music!
I can't recall the guy's name, but at Creation 79 or Jesus 78 he gave his testimony. He was from one of those small athiestic countries that used to be part of the Soviet Union. It was amazing how he got out, found freedom in the USA to not satisfy his soul, that it was only when he finally turned to Jesus that he found true love and freedom.
they were so smart because they made three or four albums and when at their peak they stopped. they never went htrough the dry-well period so many christian artists go through. all t heir music feels so alive and full of the Holy Spirit not just pain and failure and backsliddeness i hear in so much music .
they are amazing ! Im only 24 and i love this music cause it brings true fulfillment to my heart. this is real holy spirit filled music. I got the albums on record and love to play them. Georgian lives only a hour from me
I'm trying to decide if I still want to keep my Silverwind sheet music book. Got on here and was surprised to see there are videos. I'm still willing to part with the music book.
Saw Silverwind in 1983 and absolutely loved them. Their music is contagious! I have their tape "A Song in the Night. Wish I could get something onto a CD.
This song is still on my playlist of songs to sing silently at 3am when you wake up after nightmares... music was created as praise, and praise DOES beat out the nasties! I've even found myself repeating the chorus upon airplane takeoff - it's become a type of prayer.
Man, this is such a haunting song. I normally can't get into songs with a children's chorus on them, but this song has struck a chord with me ever since I first heard it as a kid. And now, listening to it again after all these years, it has such an emotional effect on me that it's almost hard to listen to... and I mean that in the best possible way. There's definitely something special about a song that can do that to you.
What a great find - thanks for posting!!! I used to listen to this tape every night until I'd go to sleep... just keep flipping it over, side to side, until I passed out. Every song on it was terrific - almost hypnotically so. I loved Elya, too... I wish I still had it :-)
I echo everyone else..thank you thank you thank you so so so much for this clip....amazing how an old once forgotten song becomes like a reunion of an old and dear friend...so thank you so very much
They have a myspace page but it doesn't refer to anything recent. It's viscerally jarring as a parent with young children to compare this innocent imagery with what passes for acceptable now. I'm sure it sounds naive or silly but I truly miss being 9 and sitting on the back-porch with friends on a hot summer evening listening to this on cassette while chasing fireflies - without a care in the world.
Once in a while we are blessed with writers and musicians with a destiny to inspire the world. Silverwind was such a group. How many nights I played them over and over. Thanks for the video. I wish they would reunite and make a dvd.
OMG...I have been searching for Silverwind all over and finally at least this song has been uploaded. Thank you so much. My favourite christian contemporary group from the 80's. Another album entitled "By His Spirit" was also very good. Memories.
Thanks for Posting this. I asked sparrow records to post this but they may not have had it in thier video library. Silverwind had some nice tunes. I remmber they were always billed as "ABBA" type vocal group. Never saw them in concert either.
*cries* OMG this was my FAVORITE VIDEO as a child! I will never forget the Dove out of the ball and....OMG!! TYVM to you Trustn!!! *huge hugs for you my sister/brother* :-D
I tried finding some of the great old Christian music videos earlier this year and didn't find this one so I was quite delighted to find it tonight. Such a beautiful song and video. My girls loved this one so much and it was great to see it again!
Wow..what a blast from the past. I LOVED this group. My parents were involved in a musical group in my youth that did some of their music and the memories of traveling with those lifelong friends is forever meshed with Silverwind's music. Thanks for posting this.
Yes, they were a good group. I think the orignals were called into missions...I know the man was anyways. One of the girls does children's lullaby's now...I have that CD for when my children were babies. I saw them in concert after they broke up.
yes, thankyou for putting this one on....do you have any others....they were/are/still are great....my three oldest daughters thought the were "the bomb!"....are there any other silverwind videos out there?.....does anyone know the group, "servant?" they were great, as well....
What a dream come true! I've never seen this video in its entirety until today. Silverwind is my absolute favorite singing group of all time! Did they produce any other videos?
I also saw them in concert. They were a very good group. Our daughter (now adult) may still have their album. A good Christian witness through their music!
I saw them in Florida early 80's. Whatever became of them? My favorite song was "The rider". Why do good things have to end? This group should have lasted!
I know that the original members were replaced with three new ones on the Set Apart album in the mid-80's. Georgian Banov (the guy in the video) has a nice MySpace page that actually has soundbytes of five of the songs, plus this same YouTube video. Let me know if you want the link.
Thank you for posting this! It brought back a lot of memories for me. I remember seeing them in concert when I was a girl and owned a tape of their music.
at first I thought this song was like apart of a cult or something
