  • Wait... you don't need a CDL for this thing? I'm gonna start looking for some single axle trucks then.

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!

  • CAT POWER!

  • dude you got to much fuel going through

  • i am jealous that truck is awesome

  • Nice job be sure to post it when its all done I like what you did ... just wish i had time and money to do the same,

  • I want.

  • haha yea you keep thinking that about the cdl dont bring it into WVa with them,Air Brakes ALONE will stop it here

  • @MrRonaldforren All states have different laws. I live in California, and air brakes do not have any affect on it here. Besides, I have a class A with air brakes endorsement anyway, so it's not like I was worried about anything no matter where I went.

  • AWESOME TRUCK. Wish I had the money to do that

  • that be fun what motor does she have in her shea 18 speed or a 10 speed

  • if it has Air brakes you do need at least a class B CDL to drive it no matter what city and state you live in.

  • @markvaars37 As taken from TruckingSafety dt org Question 5 Is a CDL required for a commercial motor vehicle equipped with air brakes, even though the weight rating is 26,000 pounds or less? No. The GVWR or GCVWR, number of passengers or transportation of hazmat would be the sole determining factor. Air brakes, by themselves do not establish any requirements for CDL.

  • @markvaars37 Actually for Minnesota, you need a Class A because out here its based upon the original GVWR

  • I want to buy an old rig and convert it to a RV, I saw one in colorado where I am stationed that looked pretty nice. I hate cab over design, but for lenght, you cant beat it.

  • hey have you thought of making another pick up like that with the cummins n-14 with loud jakes

  • WHY? lol i'm kidding

  • this must be in idaho

  • Are you gonna paint the box? If not remove it and make a nice plate to cover all the frame. like a real truck.

    NICE PROJECT!

  • @baallzdeep Yeah, the intention was to paint the bed to match the cab and hood. But I ended up selling this thing before I got around to it. I like that idea of putting a plate to cover the frame. The only reason I put a pickup bed on it, was so I wouldn't have to stop at scales in California:-) But it turned out that I liked it better as a regular truck. So next time I get a truck just to play with, it is going to remain a real truck.

  • @dasani110 I suprised that the CA smog cops weren't all over you for all the "coal" you were rolling. When you were reving the engine sitting still in the lot I could hear engine stumbling to clean itself out & the fuel gurgrling in the cylinders. Did you just have fuel turned upto tilt or did you restrict the return line. Way back when when I was driving I had a truck with a cummings in it I put a rivit in the return line to up the power & smoke it The sound of your engine reminded ot it

  • my dream truck i love it wish i can get a pete and add a cummins n-14 with loud jakes and 10 inch pipes and add pickup bed on it

  • only comment i could come up with: my god that is FUCKING awesome!

  • wow buddy , that is a first for me and i look a lot of trucks and big rigs , great cam shots and vid , hot big rig and nice graphics on truck , i know that you get some head turned on this one ! Thanks for sharing and awesome !

  • how do you drive it without cdl???? Ive been wanting to do this forever please awsnser back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @poppamosher check out the explaination I posted to @Fireheart528. One side note a CDL has noting to do with weight of the vechile it has to do with the use of the vechile. If you own a lawn cutting business and have a pickup truck and a trailer with all you mowing equipment because the "truck" is used in conducting Intrastate commerce you need a CDl and you should have a trailer endorsement aswell. Addtionaly the pickup truck should have DOT numbers and stop at weight stations .

  • how do you drive it without cdl???? Ive been wanting to do this forever please awsnser back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ok the sparkle paint job is fucking sick! i love it and the whole truck is awesome

  • that is probably the coolest thing i've ever seen

  • what do you get for miles per gallon?

  • Killer truck but damn how much that cost u?

  • what kind of fuel milage do you get with that thing!!!

  • LOL honestly if u still have it after I graduate from school I would be more than happy to buy it haha

  • alright how much u want for it? lol

  • @kyleimali I don't know, how much would you give me for it? :-)

  • You just gave me a 5 year plan!! That is awesome!

  • do ya need a CDL to drive this since it's basically a Class 8? and are ya gonna tow anything with it anytime soon?

  • @SeaDollarsBertram Nope no CDL needed to drive this thing, and no I didn't really plan on towing anything with it.

  • @dasani110 i bet the police stop you alot and get confused. This is a rig body infront how come you don't need to have a big rig license?

  • @dasani110 How do you not need a CDL to drive it? I live in Georgia, and I'm not even sure if I could drive it over here.

  • @Fireheart528 if you are not conducting intrastate or interstate commerce than you do not need a CDL. You do however do need is a drivers licence with air brake endorsement and the proper weight endorsement. Think of this way if you own a Prevost motor coach which is basically a tour bus with a custom interior. As long as you use your "Prevost" as you personal RV or "Not for Hire" vehicle the only drivers licence requirement is to have proper endorsements.

  • @SeaDollarsBertram if it has airbrakes u need a cdl/ if not u can do what u want.

  • That is just incredibly awsome - love it! Looking forward to seeing how the finishing goes.

  • Nice, I've been planning a similer truck based on a 1996 379 cab and 378 hood on a 2005 Ford F-550 chassis, custom 50's style box with running boards. Will be powered by a Detroit 4-53T and RTO-6610 trans. I have the engine allready and am working on that at the moment. The empty wieght of my Peterbilt Pickup should be around 10,000 LBS? It's nice to watch your progress and ask questions along the way. Keep those video's coming. Any chance of a Detroit powered versoin in the future?

  • So it's a "Podge", or a "Dodgerilt" lol

  • are you gonna paint the bed?

  • @xxbal1inxx Oh yeah definitely. In fact I didn't even want to post any videos of it before I did, because I didn't want people thinking it was staying that way. ha ha I just put the bed on it about a month ago, and it's been entirely too cold here to do any painting so it's gonna have to wait til spring.

  • thats awsome man ur gonna have too get a shot of teh camera in the bed somwhere and u goin thru the gears. is that a 425 or 400 motor? thats great u got one of these ur gonna have a blast with it.

  • @Unlimited3406 Yeah, I was actually going to attach the camera to the tail gate looking up at the stacks, but my dang camera doesn't have a very wide angle lens at all. But yeah, I'll get a shot of that sometime soon. It's got the 425 motor, and just before making this video, I had turned up the injection pump to somewhere around 500HP

  • @dasani110 thats great man u got one awsome set up. and i just thought of another shot u can do. when u had the camera layin down in the tunnel u should go thru the gears right near the camera and keep shiftin as ur pullin away from it, those 6 inch stacks will make alot noise in the tunnel. Its just too go give u an idea when u go too make another video. keep the vid's comin

  • Way Cool!

  • i love it man keep making videos for this beast im planning on doing something like that in the coming months....theyre gonna love that thing here in new england. I wander what theyre gonna say to me when i try to get a passenger vehicle inspection sticker for that thing...should be fun

  • That thing is sweeeeeet! The sound remindes me of the Smokey And The Bandit truck!

  • that is saweeeeet

  • awesome pickup my friend

  • Just awesome!

  • I love that truck ! I gotta build one now! Did you some how lower it and make the cab smaller? or is that model small like that? can you make a vid of the inside of the cab?

  • @onetoughtechie That's just the size of that model. I didn't modify the cab or anything other than simply shortening the frame so the rear axle would line up with the pickup beds wheel wells. I actually recorded a bit of the inside of the cab yesterday, but decided not to put it in this video because the interior still needs some serious attention. There are pieces of the cab missing and things. I've got a lot of work to do in there.

  • Nice job, how's it ride?

  • @emerald310 It rides pretty good, but it is a little rough. I adjusted the air bags on the suspension to be a lot softer since I'm not hauling any heavy weight, but I think I need to remove a leave from the front suspension leaf springs too or something to make the ride a little smoother. I kind of like the way it is though because there is no body roll when going around corners. ha ha
