Many creatures eat their own waste. Even humans can eat their own poo without becoming sick (as long as they don't know what they're eating), this was proven by what the Nazis' did to the Jews (not joking). Pork is perfectly fine to eat as long as you cook it all the way through. Just like many other meats, if they don't cook it enough it can lead to food poisoning but if cooked right then its fine. Beef is worse for parasites/tapeworms than pork.
