  • Ralph Andrus- alcoholic with herpes.

  • THANKS FOR POSTING MY NATIONAL ANTHEM.. I hope you get around to hearing my country Some Time.. Oh.. I live off Highway 40

  • Epic!!

  • Love how Ricky classes up the joint

  • When God gives you your voice, you don't lose it as you get older.

  • Good Ol' boys, long as 'we' enjoy it, but gotta realize these 'classical' guys are incredible musicians as well. It doesn't particularly "turn my crank" but. long as they don't give us the "tight lips & a frown", It's all good. Ricky remains "Mr Bluegrass!!

  • Wonderful

  • A living legend

  • 14 time Grammy Award Winner , Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder Treasure Chest Tour coming to the historic Watseka Theatre Watseka IL on Friday August 26, 2011.

  • Lovely

  • This music makes me smile.

  • When I see Ricky I am reminded of a story in National Geographic some years ago and about the time of Daniel Boone coming here into Kentucky, there were two brothers named Skaggs that were "long hunters" in this area. They were probably Ricky's ancestors since he is a Kentucky boy.

  • I'd love to have seen this show in person. Thanks so much for posting this. Ricky and Kentucky Thunder are playing with Boston Pops again on June 25th and 26th this year. Wish I could make it up there to see it.

  • my mom and dad met him at save a lot and said he was really nice

  • This is really awesome. All these musicians are so talented.

  • And thank you Larry Cordle for writing such a beautiful song!

  • the ensemble drops 50 or so ppl, they'll sound just fine :)

  • That banjo player rocks!! I love to hear Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder.

  • Nice for the band to get exposure this way but the big band is not required for me.

  • This music comes from the very bones.

  • This is a Good Song!, Boston Pops were probally like what the Hell, they got into it :-), they all done a Beautiful Job!

  • @sweetolelady: if you download the free browser, "Firefox" by Mozilla, you can then add extensions that will allow you to download videos from youtube. Just do a search on the firefox website for 'youtube downloaders'.

  • I would love to download this song on my ipod through Itunes but I can't find it there. Any suggestions? (This one especially with the Bostom Pops)

  • This is pretty cool. Bluegrass mixed with a big orch. Apparently enjoyed by the audience as well. Thanks for the video dave

  • super song - -we always used to sing this....super song

  • ricky skaggs you are very very good at singing love your voice

  • This song really got me to listen closely to country music when it was a hit on the radio. Really sounds great backed up the Boston Pops.

  • Fanastic

  • Could not be better! Ricky skaggs is thr living legend of Mandolin, in place of the late Bill monroe.

  • One of the great Bill Monroe's finest proteges at his best. Bill would be so proud...

  • He's got one of the most pure voices God ever created. And he can play the shit out of anything with strings. Go Ricky!

  • ricky rocks

  • i'm larry cordle's cousin the man who wrote this song just wanted to give a shout out to larry and ricky good job boys

  • My Lord he's slapped on some pounds over the years!!!!!!

  • @1granddragon not only pounds but also a ton of arrogance. I have met numerous country stars and Ricky really shocked me to no end. I expected this guy to be friendly and country as cornbread but he is by far one of the rudest performers I have ever met. He is smug and talks to you like he is doing you a favor by him speaking to you. Ricky is good at what he does no one can take that away from him and his many talents, but without fans a performer will go no where.

  • @chip10289...what happened to make you say that?

  • @2handsforchrist I used to work in Nashville in the court system and he came in looking for the Chancery Court Clerk. I was standing there and I said hello Mr. Skaggs hows life treating you, being friendly with him and I thought I would get a reply like good or something to that fashion. Instead I received a "Well like you need to know how my life is, it's going. Why would you ask such a stupid question to me? I was floored. I said I was just being friendly, and he said well I don't need it.

  • @chip10289 you probably caught Ricky on a real bad day. we've all had them. you've probably even said some things to some total strangers that were not of your character. you can't judge him based on one little encounter. I've known Ricky for right around thirty years and have never known him to intentionally be like that. I bet if you ever saw him again he wouldn't treat you like he did that one time.

  • @2handsforchrist Yeah he may have been having a bad day. But when in the public eye ya gotta kinda suck it up especially when you are looked at in high regards. The 2 people that were there was shocked as I was. I know people have bad days, but to call someone stupid, kinda a far reach for a bad day. Not like I was gonna ask for an autograph I had more repsect for him than that, and he lost it that day. You think folks are nice but soon find out different if you say anything to them. Take care.

  • @2handsforchrist I just saw some other posts about Mr. Skaggs and it seems he does have an attitude with people. You said he might have been having a bad day, but from what I read with others that have been around him say he is arrogant, bossy and stuck up. So he must have meant what he said that day. How can you know him for 30 years and your only 31 I find that a mystery? I think your defending a man who is a very rude person. His music has been no where for years that may be why.

  • @chip10289. alright sir...I can most surely respect your opinion. not everyone's going to dig the same thing. thanks for the response!

  • God bless you.

  • Ricky Skaggs is synonomous with class. He came to our town of 25,000 3 years ago and gave a world class performance for a crowd of 400. I was totally embarrased that more people didn't show. We all gave him and Kentucky Thunder a standing ovation several times to show our appreciation. He is one of the greatest talents ever to hit country music. Started his own recording company to help new talent and continues to be his own man. I put him in the same class as Eddie Arnold and Chet Atkins.

  • they are all legends DAMN I love this music and love some good pickers

  • Uhhh, it's not about selling out, it's about getting a little bit closer to where you started.

Where do you think country music came from???????!

Be educated...........................then speak, different conclusion, duh.

  • Oh wow, what a combination.

  • Great find. I love this and I'm not a true 100% fan of bluegrass. My first love is Rock but I know talent when I see it. Ricky Rocks.

  • Please give me the heads up, I will pay just don't block me, Berea KY

  • Found these five songs about three weeks ago, been listening to them daily. Just a joy, the blend, so well put together.

  • Right, Did Ricky and the boys class up the joint or what? Think some of the starched collars didn't quite know what to make of it. :]

Great stuff. Thanks for posting this.

  • I have 5 songs of Ricky w/the Pops doing my arrangements. In some you can catch some of the Pops musicians smiling . . . and you know they are trying not to show they are having fun . . .those old "longhairs" as we used to call them.

    Thanks for the compliments.

  • @quantumdave For being such a busy person, you sure have a lot of time to comment on youtube!

  • @beatsbooze This has to be the best music ever! guys that been playing all their lives to realise their dreams, and doing a damn good job of it.... listening to this music gives me goosebumps every time.

  • @kcaissie Thanks for this. This is great music. I appreciate all of it, but this gives the "other guys" a chance to hear/see some classic stuff. Hope Quantumdave is still putting some of this together. Great mix.

  • @beatsbooze Ya Ricky and the boys did class the joint up a bit,I'm sure it was gettin a lil bit stuffy till Ricky and Kentucky thunder showed up,lol Great post for sure!!

  • @beatsbooze You're absolutely right! You know, I saw Steve Martin play banjo at the Power Center in Ann Arbor, MI, and he classed that place up with sweet bluegrass music! But, all the snooty rich folks expected more of a classical feel for the music, and I bet no one other then a few people (including myself) had ever heard bluegrass or old-time. They did a tremendous encore that night, everyone cheered, and about three people other tan me knew about the Orange Blossom Special.

  • It's adding a little class to a beautiful type of music .Have you noticed these muscians are masters of their instruments?

  • its ricky skaggs ppl ..... trust me its bluegrass

  • Blues? Bluegrass? Country? Let's just call it... American Music. : )

  • it's kind of weird, he blends bluegrass features like the banjo, fiddle, and mandolin, but then their are drums and a horn section... im not sure what you would call it.

  • Bluebrass, maybe?!? hehehohohaha

  • @quantumdave

    LOL

  • @quantumdave hrm... actually, that doesn't sound like such a bad idea. country/bluegrass+brass=win, as far as i'm concerned. Either way, sounds great.

  • @quantumdave "Grassical music!"

  • @farmorganic23 It used to be called the Nashville Sound back in the 80's but I have to agree, it is just great American music.

  • Im sorry, I love Ricky Skaggs, but I think he lost his way after the album "Skaggs and Rice" best version of "burry me beneath the weeping willow tree" ever! And highway 40 blues is not a bluegrass song... country- there's nothing wrong with that, just saying.

  • but he does it in a bluegrass style.

  • Oh my Heavens!!! This is just too good!!. It doesnt get any better than this. Good ol Kentucky boy doing us proud!!!

  • Love it ! I Dedicate this song to Kyle!

  • What an honor! It shows what pros the Bluegrass guys are when it's all said and done! We love Ricky!

  • Bluegrass & Boston Pops is tops!

  • very cool, I am honored to have had ricky skaggs and the boston pops come to my home town ketchikan,alaska...they performed live in our high school auditorioum and what an amazing, fun show it was! the best time I had ever had.

  • Amazing. Any way to get a hold of a DVD of this concert?

  • Bluegrass is real country. And the orchestra can compliment any genre of music --- but man, is it great with bluegrass or what?

  • Thank you, because when I got the assignment to write the orchestrations for them I was worried about how exactly I should approach it. I ended up just making them another member of Ricky's band. I was very pleased with the way it turned out!!

  • Wow! You wrote the orchestration? Very nice. I admire you musicians that can make so many musical parts work in unison.

  • hands down ,one of the best in the biz.!!!!! we love ricky!!!!

  • Thanks for a wonderful presentation & a beautiful accompaniment Quantum Dave!

  • my favourite song! He's great

  • Ricky Skaggs is the man!

  • I had the good luck to meet Ricky Skaggs. He is a great guy, and one heck of a great player and songwriter.

  • Classical meets country....what an awesome mix.

  • saw him in wendover. He's great

  • It is very much appreciated to be able to see this on You Tube. Wonderful. Ricky was featured most weeks on Country Radio shows in the 70's on many stations but it died here in UK. Of course I realy appreciate all the other artists on You tube also, and I buy cds often.

  • Brilliant !

  • Hoovie you ought to lay off that narcotic, that stuff done made you null and void.

  • I just performed a symphony bluegrass concert with this guy. He's amazing.

  • He's not as good as Denny Mitchell of the Ottawa County Bluegrass Band

  • and yet, Ricky is the LEGEND and who's heard of "Denny Mitchell"?

  • loser

  • Comment removed

  • @Banjerman07 lol, hell yeah!

  • yeah hoovie...who is Denny Mitchell.

  • What a great man - humble, caring, helping, and can sing the shit out of any song you put in front of him. He's truly got a velvet voice, one of the best voices in the history of country/bluegrass music!

  • yeeeeepppppp!

  • really great music..xxx

  • i love the way ricky wobbles his head

  • awsom!

  • Great song

  • a incredible song played by the best.

It still rocks here in the Netherlands

  • Them high falutin people in the audience look a little, "uneasy". Funny.

  • nice post, it really makes me appreciate the original, the steel guitar makes a huge difference in the original

  • Great combination, bluegrass and full orchestra. Like Donna Summer's McArthur Park. Loved it.

  • Love his walk-up at the end of the mandolin solo, from Ray Flacke's original guitar solo.

    Great band then and now!

  • Yes, it did turn out well! And the orchestra's balanced beautifully with Ricky's band. Nice work!

  • What can this man not do??

    A true legend.

  • right you are, the boston pops, ricky and Kentucky thunder is the tops!

  • it's great...can't say much more than that

  • This is a great video.I am so proud that bluegrass is being played by such talents.Everyone of those guys is a master at their instruments.Bluegrass...country music in overdrive.

  • amazing.

  • ethon

  • Very enjoyable. Im not much of a Blue Grass fan but this is nice.

  • BRILLIANT, BEAUTIFUL, HUMBLING! Well done brother. Keep going!

  • amen to that. I never thought the Boston Pops Orchestra could mix together with bluegrass in such great harmony. But this changed my mind cause Boston Pops+Kentucky Thunder=AWERSOME!

  • Practically magic. Nice job from a legend.

  • Man, I'd forgotten how much I like Ricky. What an awesome entertainer, singer, player. He's kind of in the "middle ground" of country music, but I'm fine with putting him up there with Merle, Waylon, Willie and all the rest.

  • el blues de la Nacional II de La Guardia

  • gorgeous

  • A "roadgeek tune" and the Boston Pops... what a freakin' awesome combo!!! :)

our time look what he did as a young kid Donald E Doyle

  • Absolutely wonderful!!! A new genre of music has been born. Any chance there were enough songs to produce an album and if not, any chance they will do it in the future?
