@mrmerked1 Tethered is when everytime you reboot your iDevice once jailbroken you must boot the tethered which means its dangerous to take the device away from the computer. untethered is the same but it does not require booting it up on the computer. Untethered is the one you want, and 5.0.1 supports it.

@ricky21ish same here and this isnt for 5.0.1 i found out because when you go to the more detailed page and you click on his link to download the ispw, the ispw your downloading is actually 5.0, so if you go to felix burns and download 5.0.1 it wont work

First Download ipsw 5.0, then open redsn0w 0.9.9b8 => extra => select ipsw => select the ios 5.0 ipsw. then go back and jailbreak.... To boot use the same method but then dont clich on jailbreak now, click on just boot. or what Lordjester sais.

from someone else: Here is how i solved the unrecogonized build error after several attempts

1- open redsn0w and dont select IPSW.

2- go to extras and click just boot,.

3- when it shows unrecogonized build error, quickly shutdown your iphone while its on apple logo by holding the home and sleep button.

4- now go to extras and select IPSW of 5.0 and then "just boot".

it should work, i just did that.

just remember use 5.0.1 to upgrade ur iphone on itune and use 5.0 to jailbreak
