I was watching Eagle of the Ninth with some friends; for those who do not know, It's romans vs celts. My friends are all french canadian so they were rooting for their ancestors, the romans. I'm half french canadian and english, so I rooted for my ancestors from england. They were all like "their the bad guys! Don't root for them, who cares about the ancient brits!" But I stood my ground and rubbed it in their faces :)

actually those of Ireland are the descendants of the celts from Scotland learned that in 2203 Europe in the Early Middle Ages and the Mc and Mac of the names just means sons of so and so

@mephisto279 You could be talking about the plantations but Ireland was inhabited long before the early middle ages. The Picts were Brythonic while the Irish were Goidelic -- as in, their language came from the Gaels. Irish people settled the shores of Scotland sometime around 200AD, creating the kingdom of Dal Riada, which lead to the Scottish adopting Gaelic in the North.

The original picts died out, leaving only Irish Gaels and Germanic Inglismen.
