I asked a different Mayan in Belize about the "doomsday" theory of the calendar, and what she said makes total sense. Just follow the money. The doomsayers have something to gain. The end of their calender really means just that - the end of that one. They will start a new calendar, with probably a new end-date (I didn't ask when or if there is one, and can't seem to google the answer either)

It can be done in less than 400,000 generations.

@MrMikeyPark they're cold blooded animals, so they are very economical with how they spend energy. he didn't feel threatened so didn't bother to resist, but didn't appreciate when his mouth was being tugged on (and started moving away).

its really quite interesting, most cold blooded animals can survive on one meal every few months because they spend energy so efficiently. we waste a WHOLE lot of energy simply to keep our bodies warm, but that lets us be active and not rely on the sun.
