@drex48239: somewhat easy. hard to hold, keep balance, and does a number on your pinky but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy.

that's just my opinion. some may say otherwise.

@ChoraViola u dont hold it on your pinky u place the base o berimbau at your pinky the hold starts from the 2 middle fingers and the base of yous thumb i am capoeirista and the most of all is how to play a berimbau i watched serval times my instructor how he hold the berimbau and from his tactic i learn for starting is really hard to balance it but if u give the weight of berimbau bend at front a bit and hold hard with yous middle fingers it commmin by itself :P

@drex48239 doesnt sound like he really learned it.....but Im listing to it as if it were 1 guitar string being pounded on similar to a piano, this is really just a cruder form of them 2 insturment well not really by kinda, you could make a good argument for and agaisnt that stament, anyway I would like to take a wack at the insturment for a few min to see what I could come up with.

My favourite African instruments... I'll love to try and play the Angolan variation of the berimbau.

This berimbau is brazilian. The African berimbau has a diferent sound and the "cabaça" stays in the midle of the wood.

Well I said "African instrument" because of its obvious African origin and that African descendants adapted it from the original. Also musical bows are still used in many countries today in Africa and other countries of the African diaspora.

Anyway next time I'll just say Afro-Brazilian Instrument.
