  • Hollywood jump ;)

  • not halo...no oxygen, easily below 20,000....that ramp looks like it would be fun to launch a big ass formation though

  • Opening at 6000 = HALHO

  • @ullekush Its HAHO HighAltitudeHighOpening. What you said would make not make much sense HighAltitudeLowHighOpening WTF??

  • Big waste of fuel for 5 people.

  • @Fromheaven007

You were not onboard for the 100+ people I dropped static line 20 min before this.

  • @mil5606 YOU didnt drop anybody

  • is there any differance btw the guys that were in the blue and the ones that were in green?

  • @msgulmar Not sure. These guys are not your regular Army grunts. They prolly wear what they want.

  • What the heck? They just jumped out of a perfectly good aircraft! hehe

^ The joke that my stepdad keeps saying about people who skydives/performs halo jumps

  • you need to get a video from the jumpers POV

  • It looks like there's a lot of misunderstanding about HALO jumps. I spent my career in U.S. Army Special Forces and have a few hundred HALO and HAHO jumps, so I thought that I'd jump in and try to answer a few questions from that perspective. Loadmasters don't jump, they wear a parachute in case they fall out. HALO jumps are generally, but not always from 12000-36000 feet. Above 15000 we have to use O2. I think that air crew use O2 above 12500. Officers in SOF units can be on HALO status.

  • @Paradude54 Thanks for helping people understand that real life is not the way Hollywood portrays it. Oh, and aircrew (at least C-130s and C-17s) have to have oxygen at 10K ft + MSL.

  • @Paradude54 So do loadmasters have to go through jump training then? And they get to jump during the training? I'm getting more and more sure that what I want to do is loadmaster, and even if I don't get to jump hardly ever, I want to do it at least once in my military career. IDK it's just one of those things.

  • @Picapacapopo

Nope, loadmasters never jump unless there is an emergency bailout or we fall out on accident. We are needed on the plane and jumping would defeat the purpose-we are aircrew and have duties in the air, not on the ground with the Army. During loadmaster training you will practice parachute landings on the ground from like a 10 ft platform. And water landings by going parasailing and detaching yourself from the boat. Thats about it.

  • @mil5606 Thanks dude! How long have you been a loadmaster? Is it an exciting job? Another thing, is I don't want to be working with stupid people. Is this a job for dummies? Or do you have to be relatively smart to make it past training and stuff?

  • @Picapacapopo yes you have to be fairly smart. there is a lot of math and a lot of people wash back or flunk out. just a figure for you i started with 12 people and me and 2 other guys finished all the way through without a washback or flunk out so its not a dummies job. and it can be exciting, theres plenty of boring everyday is the same days but theres the fun days too

  • @mil5606 Do you know if it hurts to release your parachute? It looks like it just jerks you up!

  • @iceagescrat1 It only hurts if your forget to tighten up the straps to protect Jimbob and the twins, if you get my meaning.

  • What is these guys jobs?? Do loadmasters ever get to jump?

  • @Picapacapopo These guys were Air Force Survival specialists. No, loadmasters do NOT jump.

  • @mil5606 They're SERE teachers?

  • @Picapacapopo Yes

  • @mil5606 First, thanks for helping me out with this stuff. I'm joining the AF, and I go to MEPS August 2nd, and I don't want to make any mistakes choosing out jobs. Is SERE teacher a battlefield airman job? And how often are they doing this exciting stuff, like jumping?

  • @Picapacapopo SERE instructors usually are not on the battlefield (from what I know). I have NEVER met a SERE instructor that didn't love their job. I don't know how often they have to jump, I'm guessing, once every 3-6 months to maintain proficiency and the extra pay. Not all of them are HALO qualified tho. There are limited number of class dates available for HALO training. If you are outdoorsy, then you will/should love the job. Good luck.

  • @mil5606 Thanks!!

  • @mil5606 These are USAF SERE Specialists, NOT survival specialists, and YES they are on the battlefield, they support Personnel Recovery operations in every AOR

  • @stallionmouse

What are their battlefield duties? I know they work at the JPRC and assist with recovery of personnel, but they ARE NOT on the helicopter with the extraction team.

  • @lifendsh3r3 OPSEC

  • istn HALO always with Oxygenmask?

  • @ Livin2 Lol... Mil 5606 is a hydraulic fluid... Red in color petroleum based

  • @popacap21 I used to be an aircraft mechanic...hydro tech to be exact.

  • Are there any positions for officers in HALO jumps?

  • @mil5606 not sure how it works with loadmasters but if i posted something out of a TACP FM i would get into some trouble... I also LOVE everyone telling you how to do your job ;)

  • @USAFgarrettwllmsn why everything on this video isn't classified from what i can see

  • what halo mean

    High altitude low open

  • lol I'd just be like fuck it and be the first out...some gangster shit

  • i thought the jump master was supposed to jump too

  • @Richland112 The jumpmaster DID jump. All jumpers jumped. The only people that stayed behind was me and the other loadmaster.

  • @mil5606 oh i thought you were the jump master im sorry

  • HALO stands for High Altitude Low Opening thats why the guy at the door was using oxygen where they will jump from between 25 000 and 30 000 ft and open at about 1 500ft above the ground while when you do normal skydiving you jump from about 12 500ft and open at 3 500ft

  • Who cares what type of jump it is...those boys are jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. I think their cocks and balls may need another chute because they might be too big for just the one....anyway, HIT THE SILK!

  • Crap!

That smily bloke, I want to smack him bad!

  • NOT a HALO jump!

  • Lets not argue about oxygen or what type of jump it is. What's important is that people are willing to jump out of planes at high altitudes in order to protect us so we can continue to argue with each other on youtube...

  • butt plug!

  • HAHAHAH it looks like the last guy bonked his head 1:18

  • Sorry but you're the LOAD MASTER makes you sound like some kind of porn star haha

No disrespect intended just curious about the name haha

  • i gotta try that

  • Good upload regardless of what anyone says. I just love it when people make negative comments on something they have no clue about.

  • Jumping out of a flying aircraft just like that takes balls. Personally I find the concept of jumping out of a perfectly working and intact plane a bit weird, but hell, gravity works as seen on these guys. Their balls of steel bring them down.

  • Well it is in Air Ops 'parlance' called a 'knees in the breeze' and they could possibly be practicing non contact rel work as they might do at night in full gear, this is done usually after a days 'proper training, All Spec Ops blokes do this to wind down..I did a lot of them

  • High Altitude Low Opening ...how does "hop and pop" match up to that? hanus, undisciplined turds

  • @jake3043 Hop and Pop is a slang term used for these types of jumps. Because anything with "freefall" is considered a HALO jump, the lower altitudes are called Hop and Pops. In the first Gulf War, there was only one CSAR insertion. It was a low altitude freefall jump because the pickup was Aussie SAS. It was a Hop and Pop, but it qualified (And set a record). BTW, the word is heinous. Do your homeworl.

  • is it just me or does mil5606 come off as a butt plug? haha

  • @livin2fall It's just you. But thanks for viewing.

  • @mil5606 Shittest skydive video ever!

  • @TheZodiacKiller622 You're entitled to your opinion. Just like the majority of the people that liked it are entitled to theirs. Thanks for adding to my views.

  • Since this is at Fairchild I suspect this is part of the SERE members?

  • It's a HALO jump. Any jump that doesn't have a static line is consider a HALO jump. The fact that this is a hop & pop is irrelevant. Still a HALO jump.

  • @milton1872 in the military that is...... not in the broader discipline of skydiving itself though.

  • @livin2fall the military started the "discipline"

  • @milton1872 Don't forget HAHO.

  • @mil5606 Don't sprout random terms that are irrelevant to the conversation for the sake of looking like you know what you're talking about.

  • @milton1872 I thought, HALO ment High Altitude Low Opening jump.

and that means its not a hop and pop... its more.. hop... falling... falling... falling oohh see that sparrow in the tree? pop... thingy.

  • @milton1872

How can a HALO be a hop and pop? It can't be, by definition. Unless you call it a hop, wait 3 minutes and then pop.

  • @milton1872 no a HALO jump is anything above 25.000ft and it as to be low opening and this is defo not a HALO jump because thay dont have oxegen mask on

  • @milton1872 HALO as in the military stands for high altitude low opening thats why the guy at the door was using oxygen

  • that's a bigass fucking plane

  • high altitude low opening as a means of delivering special forces covertly to theaters of operation .of which this is not .

  • @hoops814 I guess you better drop the mop and broom at YOUR janitor job, get on the phone to the Pentagon and tell them they are wrong and to re-write their regulations.

  • @mil5606 He meant HALO, the videogame ^_^

  • I wonder why most of my views are for this video. My other HALO jump video ("Another HALO Jump") that I posted is clearer, has sound, and IMO better.

  • Comment removed

  • Boy, there are some pretty misinformed people stating facts here.

  • @delay275 Yup, gotta love some of the guys in here that obviously studied Wikipedia, instead of actually going through airdrop school....like I did. Thanks for viewing.

  • HALO my arse, tis just a normal freefall, HALO depends on time at altitude {in the plane} prior to jumping and the hypoixa effects, you can fly around at 15-000 feet for 30 mins and still jump with no mask{O2}, at 17-000 Mil where I come from you pre-breathed O2 for 30 mins prior to boarding going to altitude and jumping.

    ex SAS Regiment OZ

  • @Quadrant14

I spent some time workin MH-53's in Mildenhall, thanks for your service. Yeah, its prolly not a HALO drop according to YOUR regulations.

  • training jump under 14000 feet dunno why aircrews are required to wear oxygen thats 1 thing i never understood but im former army we never wore it unless above 14grand or we were in a unpressureized aircraft

  • lol

  • Nice, clear video!!! I love the way they just wave and "jump'!!! A bit different than a bunch of guys attached to lines!

    Thanks for the video!

  • Massive resources for a few guys!

YOU ARE WORTH EVERY F....N CENT.

You make us old guys proud!

  • @Holidats

We did some other training before we dropped them too. Taxpayers got their moneys worth.

  • without oxigen? that is not HALO

  • @isharktube Prove it.....

  • @mil5606 HALO stands for HIgh Altitude Low Opening isharktube is right it would not be HALO without oxygen

  • @simpsonsrules1994 I know what HALO stands for. A jumper jumps at a high altitude and opens his/her chute at a low altitude. Military regs (which I am well versed on) are very specific on what is considered high altitude and what is considered low altitude for chute opening. Military regs are also very specific on when a certin altitude requires oxygen. Two different regs. Once again prove that a HALO requires oxygen. Dont worry I'll wait....

  • @mil5606 very cool vid.i had a question though.(not about oxygen LOL) i was wondering why they were just goin hollywood.

  • @shoobee101

I personally have never seen a full combat gear HALO jump. And I think you'll find it hard to find another vid of HALO in full gear. The guys that do these jumps are usually "high speed" type of guys that do their own thing. In other words they dont have that commander on their backs telling them what to wear.

  • @isharktube HALO - High Altitude Low Opening /HAHO High Altitude High Opening

Mil5606 is correct we (Flightdeckcrew) We fly the damm plane dont really want to crash it.

The jumpers on O2 or not depends on their mission parameters and altitude descent profile.

When we use HALO in military jump terminology dont associate O2 to it straight away.

if you are a civilian and do jumping you know the difference coz you always do LALO!!! Low Altitude Low Opening !! lolol!

    Happy flying

  • whoa whoa whoa whoa hold on, okay, that plane is "one" of your aircraft?!?!?!?!?!???? you have more than one?!?!?!?!?!??????! they cost like 333.2 mil

  • Do they use such a huge plane to drop 5 people? Funny.

  • halo my arse what alt were u at looks like 10000 to 15000 max with no oxy no halo fact

  • @hoops814 where did you learn that definition of HALO?

  • very informative description

  • so why are the loadmasters on oxygen ?

  • @laxinitup62

I'm not a jumper, I'm aircrew and we have different rules which I covered in the description.

  • @laxinitup62 to prevent nitrogen bubbles in their blood stream.

  • @laxinitup62 they need the oxygen so the nitrogen is removed from their blood so that when the jump the nitrogen doesn't expand in their blood vain's and kill them

  • @laxinitup62 Since everybody is giving you the wrong answer.......the aircrew is on oxygen because our regulations state that we have to be on oxygen at 10k ft and above. Its because they take ZERO chances with the people that actually CONTROL the aircraft becoming hypoxic.

  • @mil5606 Very cool! That makes sense too, as there have been plenty of crashes due to hypoxia.

Bravo on the video, keep'em coming if you can.

  • @mil5606 what were you doing on the C-17 just asking are you one of the operators or something?

  • @MrRicosico12

    I'm a loadmaster

  • Is there a bathroom on a C-17 because I would redundantly like to void my bowels be for doing something like this Diarrhea at falling from 30,000 feet not fun -_-

  • balls of steel

  • I thought halo needs oxygen masks? Do rangers do this? I'm joining the army in the next month or so and going for rangers.

  • @rcoil84 just recon detachment and LRS of rangers do it, and yes you do need oxigen mask for halo jumps above 15,000

  • why didn't you tell me this shit before i jumped in 2002?.lol..just joking man,but i love the vid.next time I will take that shiny new Cam that the wife bought last birthday's fiesta.

  • how often do S.E.R.E specialist do things like Halo or Haho jumps?

  • @lechodemeista Every week

  • The moment I would have jumped, I would need new pants....

  • Dude this feels really scary, can you tell me how it feels?

  • great video. i really like the provided info.

  • Special thanks to the AF guys us Army riggers couldnt do it without ya. Blue skies!

  • not even a real HALO several of the guys aren't even wearing oxygen so they are at tops 12,000 feet

  • @MMACHMP Not too good at reading descriptions are you. You are obviously not qualified in this field.

  • iron man?

  • thats so bad ass

  • @ jnncbuhyc you are a fucking idiot. first of all don't jump into conversations throwing out terms like black ops and tactical CQB pioneer. you sound like a fucking retard if you are going to lie about your military career keep it close to home instead of posting it on peoples youtube videos. i feel sorry for the Americans who believe your line of shit. These poor people who read comments that don"t know any better will think that's the way invasions of countries should be talked about.

  • @mil5606 Thanks for the info!

  • I feel kinda stupid asking this question, but I was wondering if women can HALO jump for the Air Force. I'm only 14, but I am really looking into joining the Air Force, and I would LOVE to HALO jump. Could I?

  • @ilvg612 Not a stupid question at all. In the Air Force the only people that I know that can get HALO school slots are special forces type dudes such as: Combat Controllers, Combat Weather, TAC-P, and maybe Pararescue. Those specialties are all male only. Then you got the SERE guys (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape) and they can also get HALO qualified. And that specialty is NOT limited to only males. So if u become a SERE specialist n get lucky enough to get a HALO school slot, then YES.

  • @ilvg612 other way, is if youre a parachute rigger, just halo qualified riggers can rig halo parachutes, this is how it is in the army, and i believe that the usaf also, im in the 82 airborne division, i am a paratrooper, and i seen couple female riggers from jump school through advanced airborne school over here at ft bragg that got halo wings, also if youre lucky and get assigned here in the army to a special forces groups you could get a halo school slot...

  • @lifesaver198 good info

  • @ilvg612 Most USAF riggers arent even airborne qual'd. I dont think I have met an air force rigger to date that has been through Airborne school...much less HALO. USN, USMC, and Army have a much better deal for their riggers for sure.

  • @lifesaver198 Thanks , The Brotherhood.

  • @ilvg612 YES!

  • @ilvg612... Also another option is Navy. I'm an Aircrew Survival Equipmentman (also known as PR or Parachute Rigger). Navy riggers can also get slots to Airborne school, with a follow on to EOD Rigger school and get orders to Naval Special Warfare Units, EOD units, and a host of other jump billets. Especially if you can get orders to a Naval Special Warfare Unit Group, you can find yourself fast tracked to getting AFF or Accelerated Free Fall school (ie HALO).

  • @ilvg612 There has only been one AF female to ever go to HALO school. She was a USAF SERE Specialist.

  • Comment removed

  • @ilvg612 Aerospace Physiologists (male or female) can also go to Military Free Fall, they are the ones who are in the aircraft during very high altitude jumps (taking care of oxygen / equipment / etc...)

  • @ilvg612 or become a c liscensed civilian skydiver and go up anytime you want to do a halo from upto 24k ft. we also have parachutes you can steer and land as smoothly as stepping off a curb. All you military jumpers are more than welcome to come jump with me and my sky brothers and sisters at "skydive skyranch" in siloam springs arkansas

  • could you plz tell me if loadmasters have to parachute ever?

  • @tizit88 No, they dont have to jump in normal situations. But we are expected to be able to jump during emergencies that require it.

  • It's probably a little sketchy wearing a shitty little PPB when that ramp is open at

    10 000ft!

  • @Roch3VP

Nope. I'm good. Fall out...pull rip cord...pray. Or don't fall out!

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS 02?

  • @halcncod

    oxygen

  • i pack their chutes, those guys are awesome to work with everyday

  • Hoorah! God Bless America

  • thats gotta be the damn cleanest aircraft i ever saw anybody jump from.

  • wait a minute...! THEIR STATIC LINES ARE UNHOOKED!!!!

    j/k!

good vid! but for some reason I didn't get any audio, is it my connection or YT doing it's thing again?

oh and quick question, do the jumpers ever get towed by a piece of equipment as the exit or have you witnessed a jumper just tumbling and falling on or of the ramp? if so, what's the Jumpmasters duty?

  • I miss seeing your B52's flying over Spokane..I wouldn't mind the noise of those everyday flying around my neck of the woods..

  • ¿A cuantos metros saltaron?

  • @pipika2 They jumped around 10,000 ft. or about 3,048 metros (meters).

  • @mil5606 10,000 ft isn't a HALO jump... HALO jumps are from 20,000+ feet.

  • @OneSkiWonder troll

  • @mil5606 I'm a skydiver, not a troll. Get your facts straight or get the fuck out of the military. We have enough idiots running the country, we don't need more trying to protect it.

  • @OneSkiWonder LOL. the troll's tactics backfired. Look who ended up mad. :-) Next time shhhh about stuff you know nothing about and somebody far away on the net wont piss you off and ruin your day. Skydiver regulations and Air Force regulations obviously differ. After looking at copies of the Air Force regs I cut and pasted in the video info section, you'd think a smart troll like yourself would be able to figure that out. But have a nice day sitting at the computer. The rest of us have jobs.

  • @mil5606 then it isnt a HALO jump and dont tell me im wrong im 101st airborne and also served at 82nd so possibly you should research what halo is before saying something dumb like a halo jump is 10,000 feet

  • @aurick7737 lol

  • wonder if they still get that "oh fuck" moment like I do when I leave the plane!

  • great video. awesome experiance it must be

  • Great video.thank you Jumpmaster

  • can civilian s do this

  • @lokallize yeah its called skydiving

  • ? Last summer I jumped out of a casa spanish military airplane at 18,000 with no oxygen. Of course we felt weird but obviously i'm still here =P

  • I jumped from 14,000 last month without oxygen. Sometimes you'll take o2 on the way up, but you won't jump with it.

  • what branch of the military does this

  • @TheBurritoTaco HALO jumps are almost always Special Forces regardless of branch. Marine Recon, "Green Berets", Rangers, Para-Rescue...it doesn't matter. You have some "normal" paratroopers who have HALO wings and not in SF but it is really hard to get a slot in the school if your not a SF type of paratrooper.

  • @TheBurritoTaco Every branch except maybe the Coast Guard.

  • C130's have the same regs... I am a 130 Load.

  • What a view! To stand their looking out of the back like that, like standing on top of the world. I've got tens of static line jumps and was lucky when I got door position here and there. But man, that is the ultimate door position!

It makes me feel a little sad though that I'll never get to do that or even static from a 141 or 130 again. Maybe next lifetime.
