Firstly, the tissues are only theoretically separate, when you lift a weight, you exercise, muscle, nerve, fascia, bone, joint, blood vessel etc. If you load tissues through 'full range of motion' you maintain suppleness. It is also safe to dynamically and rhythmically mobilize joints to keep them supple provided the dynamic range of motion is appropriate for the given joint...
@larzlucifer it's a little bit off putting because he's talking about stretching ligaments and tendons, which once stretched do not go back to their original length, this makes for unstable joints. I believe that this can lead to higher rates of injury.

Just a small detail: repetition in the gym does not give you big muscles, you have to add heavy weights to get big muscles. :o)
