There was no better time than NYC in the late 802. The Tunnel, The World and then early Red Zone..Roxy was good but later on.
House music was the heart that pumped the blood of life to all of those magnificent times club kids like me enjoyed. NY was the shit back then, dangerous but never whack. A true New Yorker from the Bronx...Chicago House is the original and best for me and all my brothers and sisters who still have those memories.
I wish they had time machines. Dear Lord, give us House.
im only 18 n i only know about dis music ONE becuz i live in chicago one of da greatest cities ever and TWO cuz my parents played it when i was a child n haven been playing it in our house, i love dis shit
I remember contemplating on buying this cassette back in 87. But because it was 17.00 because it was imported I decided not to buy it. Boy do I regret it.
this is perfect! it's not about the money its not about the fame it's not about a trend, its just real and pure and there is so much soul put into this
@elliotzzxzjjxx...I'm not sure what version you are referring to. When i heard this I was in 11th grade and lived in NJ. The university of Princeton had a radio show "Sounds of the Underground" when I heard I just jumped up and through a tape in a hit record...but if you mean was it all instramental yes....no vocal except the Martins/Malcoms speeches.
Does anyone remember an old multi-part mixtape by Traxx called Unknown Musical Structure? He samples some of these vocals on it. Probably one of the best acid house mixtapes I've ever heard. Can't find it anywhere now.
@koolzainski...yeah it was good, but the Malcom X version was real hot. The song would just end when Malcom said the line.."By Any Means Necssary" and the song would end. Club went ape shit.
@MagneticLeader do you know which version had the vocal mix and non vocal mix? was it the ammnesia double LP with the vocal? did the first can you feel it ep have the vocal?
Just remember the vibes you felt in those House Clubs in NYC.. The Sound Systems were fantastic... The music touch every part of your soul.. Everyone moving...dancing, all having a goodtime.. they way it supposed to be...
@kelly2212 Thanks for the info! Found it... its been about 22 years since I've last heard it. Hearing that deep heavy bassline gave me the same feeling it did when I first heard it. Thanks again!
Oh man! This reminds me so much of The Underground in Union Square and The Silver Shadow on 57th Street, and Friday and Saturday night radio mixes...NYC! House was all about the rhythm... drum and bass! Would anyone happen to know of a house tune I think was titled "Oochie Coochie", circa 1988. The bass-line was so deep, it had to be remixed because it caused the bass speakers in London's Hippodrome to blow out. Would like to know the artist and the correct title if not "Oochie Coochie"! Thanks
@robdagun Reminds me of my home, my church my grail, the place that made it all famous and thats the Hacienda..87/88/89 . i lost myself and found myself all at the same time...
It just never gets old, never gets tired, still fresh as it was back then, and still kicks the crap out of anything then and now, that the mainstream sheep listen too..
@DJPotetsianakis Hmm. Well, I was buying house records a few years before this came out and I wasn't in there particularly early. It is a seminal tune though, - maybe THE seminal house tune.
@Mardyfella Not sure you was buying House tracks a few years before this came out... It is one of the very first House tunes! It is one of the founding tracks that created and carved the sound of House and gave birth to the genre. I think you maybe talking about Disco tracks... House came from the Wharehouse, and that's where it was born. This was the anthem of this musical birth. lol
@TheDannyNation Well, is two a few? The first house record I bought, like a lot of people's in the UK was Love Can't Turn Around by Farley Jackmaster Funk in 86. Still play Dub Can't Turn Around! This Larry Heard tune is a great, seminal house tune. But it's not the first. That's all I was saying.
@skrason This song and the sounds within takes me back to the 90's. You feel a lightness in your body. Its really a feeling! Peace and Joy for everybody!!!
This tune is so amazing!!!! It gives me goosebumps, why can't all radio stations play this tune? 25 dislikes, they have a real shit taste in music, they don't know what real amazing music is! This tune is a classic!
When entering the Paradise Garage and hearing this song you automatically felt like this is home .... and home was you house and house was the house that Jack built.........that Trance baby.......1988..i miss real house music so much....
Chicago House Music is a music genre, a social movement, a phenomenon that was born in the underground clubs on Chicago's west and south side neighborhoods in the early 1980s. The nexus of all electronic dance club music is Chicago House music. The fast upbeat tempo of Chicago House music is classic, orignial House. I an a Chicagoan and lived some of my best years during this era. Chicago House music will never die. And "Can You Feel It" is the anthem for Chicago House.
@JacquesZupp , soo true I'm 19 now nearly 20, and I have been listening to acid house, hardcore, jungle+ dnb since I was 13, I was the only person in my school that refused to listen to dizee rascal and dress like a complete twat! you had teddy boys, mods, skinheads, the acid house rave scene, the hardcore scene, the jungle and dnb scene and now there is nothing!!! there is no originiallity these days and no music is being made with any feeling or real message.
This record brings back to life all the people who passed this world into the next club life. And there, they prepare a dancefloor for us to dance to the songs that speak to our soul!
@JacquesZupp so i'm not the only way that knows that.. true.. im 22 lot of people i know my age listen to the new stuff but got no idea.. i always listen to the 90's because that was the best era!

@TheGrownasswoman-Yeah, I was short a few years to be allowed to get into the clubs back then, but made it later around 89-90. I remember this track back in da days @ the Red Zone w/DJ David Morales,Sound Factory w/Junior Vazquez,Octagon w/Roger S. in NY.But you're right, this is what "what's up" back then and still is.
@JacquesZupp So skinnys ahve been round since the 70's so no. I remember my mom wearing blue snake skin skinnys to raves. The drugs bit makes me sad to be born in 199E (if you raved you would know why i put the E)
@JacquesZupp I feel you. Im a kid in those ages but i like raw Underground Hip HOp from the 90's era. This sounds pretty smooth too my man. WERd.. EASSyy

@JacquesZupp But we can dream and wish ohhh we can wish that one day we can go back to these days cuz lemme tell you there are some of us young ones that think of these words and these songs as heaven, because it iss just that HEAVEN to my ears.,, <3<3<3 Its a SOUL THING!
This is just an unauthorized bootleg version that came out in 1988, the proper instrumental was 1985, this mix was dismissed by Larry Heard as 'disrespectful'.

This is just an unauthorized bootleg version that came out in 1988, the proper instrumental was 1985, this mix was dismissed by Larry Heard as 'disrespectful'.
