  • LOOOOOOVE IT!!!...

  • me encanta la pelicula y me encanta esta cancion en sus dos versiones...y me hace llorar no se por que ...sera por que nombra Acapulco?

  • Personnellement je préfère cette version à celle du film, la magie de la performance live, avec une super chanteuse!

  • Eeeehh.. not bad. Could've been in French, though.

  • Who's the singer? She's wonderful! Gorgeous, to boot.

  • The Oscars aren't about the best. They're about who is 'due'. LOTR got this Oscar because it was the greatest films made and this was a gimme.

I think we can all agree this song was better than the LOTR one and should have been left in French. Finding Nemo beat this movie for an Oscar. That should tell you all you need to know about the Oscar process.

  • Who said the lyrics HAD to be translate?

  • They were robbed!!!!

  • Ergh, it was totally yank-i-fied.

  • @jazz4 I agree!! The french version is so much better

  • "belle-vous...."

  • OMG! I HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN THIS PERFORMANCE BACK IN 2004! 6 YRS LATER I AM WITNESSING THIS AGAIN! THANK YOU FOR SHARING, ED!

  • nice performance!! Too bad the americans refuse to hear any other language then their own.. French original is better

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" (2003).

  • I love how they've got the little bits of Cabaret Hoover worked in,

  • the academy awards wanted Cindy Lauper to sing this song and Benoit Charest said no way....its Betty who will sing

  • Why didn´t she sing in french?

  • The French version is better! D:

  • Dreadmonkey1: This performance wasn't edit. It's as it was.

  • So why was this performance cut and pasted like it was?

  • Okay, the LOTR soundtrack was, in a word, EPIC, but its replay value is pretty limited. I mean, you COULD be the kind of person who likes to get up in the morning to "The Pass through Moria", but 'cmon, 30s style back-up singers? A vacuum and bicycle wheels being used an instruments? THIS IS WHAT I WISH EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE WAS LIKE.

  • this peice back then had me hunt the film down and buy it as it never reached where i lived til years later and it is still one of the best films put out inthe past 10 years

  • @Mr0Judo0Man lol, yeah. It's not like, combined, all the hits to Belleville Rendez-Vous' many youtube channel totalize over a million... Oh wait, crap, it does. Guess you`ve got your head stuck where the sun never shines.

  • @Malfehzan If keeping my head where the sun never shines, keeps me from hearing this winy tune again i'll happily keep it there. the animation for Belleville is simply out-standing, but this performance at the 2004 Oscars is quite crap.

  • is it just me or does the guitarist give us the evil eye right after 0:58 ?

  • Don't get me wrong. "Into the West" was a good tune, but up against this and "Kiss at the End of a Rainbow"?

  • I love this song, but all I could think was, "Who is this lady, and where is the loveliness that is -M-??"

  • I had been looking for it again since a year ago...just happened to stumble on it tonight, and downloaded it so I have it forever now. I love this live performance

  • This live performance is better than the one from the CD soundtrack...I like Bettie's louder, more raspier vocals on this

  • Meilleur en Français!

  • Dj Champion playing the bicycle. represent.

  • OMG! I had no idea Betty = BEAST untill recently!!!!! aHHHHH

  • I love this song, but I agree that Into the West was the true winner. Oh, and it totally sounds better in french!

  • I think her performance alone should have gotten an oscar. I can't remember what song won that year but I sure do remember this performance. It was nice to see it again. Thanks for posting.

  • "Into the West" — The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King • Music and lyrics: Fran Walsh, Howard Shore and Annie Lennox

  • too kool! for me this was the BEST of the 2004 Oscars! :)

    come on girls!

  • French version is better!

  • I have to say the the first I heard this sonf\g was on The Oscars and I was captivated, especially by Betty,it was sooo cool and so Le Jazz Hot it was unforgettable

  • Jamie Lee Curtis reminds me of Orson Welles in this...

(If you understand my reference, thanks. If not, it's Ok)

  • they shouldn't have translated and those three girls dancing around - they weren't really singing. That was just BS! AND, they should have left the vacuum accompaniament as in the movie

  • The english version wasn't made for the Oscars, it already existed.

My only complain is that "M" didn't sing this.

  • he was on tour and couldn't be in LA.

  • This song deserves a place among the greatest cartoon songs ever! And is doubtlessly the most original.

  • lol what's with Jamie Lee Curtis's sigh at the beginning?!

  • About time someone put this on YouTube. Thank you, I was looking for this since the time it was broadcasted back in 2002. :) This songs superb

  • it was on youtube for a while, but taken off by the poster...bout a year ago I remember seeing it

  • Really? Ah well, my post dates back from almost a year ago, hehe. ;) My my, time flies by! But the song still makes me happy!

    Cheers

  • I like this song! Verry swinging!

  • dj champion!!!

  • The wrong song winner that year. Lord Of The Rings song... who can even remember that now?!

    Belleville was the best.

Too bad they had to translate this one for the Oscar show. It was perfect is is.

  • Into The West. I adored it, sorry :)

    this is wonderful, too!

  • I remember it..but indeed: This number is better. I don't know anybody who isn't going swinging by the start of this nummer.

  • @SOPADELICIOSA Who even knows that this song exists?

  • @SOPADELICIOSA I agree, you are totally right, this is a grat song as the movie.

  • Jamie Lee Curtis esta linda :)

  • linda siempre
