It's not a Joplin song. It's an Erma (Aretha's sister) Franklin song. Joplin ripped off Erma and crucified it.

Carrie is very talented, but I don't like this rendition of the song. It was too slow for my tastes, where as Piece of my Heart is supposed to be past and upbeat sounding. But still, I give her props.

This might be one of the reasons I was slightly biased against her vs. Bo Bice. I have always despised this upbeat version of Piece Of My Heart. It's not Carrie's fault, coming from her generations, but Faith Hill, as good as she is, ruined Janis' classic broken-heart blues song. It's not supposed to be happy damn it.

But.... Carrie has made the most of her success on the show. I just hate this song.

Haley was far better on this song and all around a better technical singer but Carrie has the prefect voice and twang for the country and pop country she does. When Carrie was on Idol she great looking but not sexy like she is now, while Haley may not be as pretty but far sexier and many women voters look for things to hater for because of it, while they may not even realize it.

Haley could sing, which scared my wife, because she was a Lauren fan, but I could never stop thinking Haley was a petty fake person. I couldn't say why, just my instincts. If I'm wrong, it would be a rare mistake when judging character, but possible. A lot of people said Lauren was the fake one. I didn't get that feeling.

I love that even though she's nervous and all - her vocals are there!!!! It's frustrating when contestants show some good, some hideous stage presence but the vocals are terrible. Not her best, far from it, should I say. But heck! Her worst AI performance cannot even be called horrible - it's not even bad at all!
