the thing preventing a federal Europe is the idea of Nationalism and Sovereignty in the individual countries. This is like a person that doesn't want to share his stuff with someone, though it would contribute to something better.
Come on people, don't be so selfish. We need to share our lands and resources and together we can be the greatest nation on Earth!
Federal Europe is the only way forward. The problems with Greece has forced the hand of EU governents and has shown that a federal model is the only way forward, any other solution will be a failure.

"isn't it a good thing when europe comes together"...
ahm, why do we need a european soviet-union for that, taking away our democracy. there is totally no reason to merge it all together as an european empire, we can come together in other ways, there is no reason to give everything to Bruxelles. so my question rather is: "isn't it a good thing to let the people decide?" the EU doesn't think so, but i do.
What a frickin' liar! They may not say "federalization" or "federal", once power is given it is almost never given back. He claims the EU has been universally good. What a joke! Put this guy in his place Ireland!!!

I'd like a federal europe.. however the lisbon treaty is not a step towards that... the constitution would have been so, but as you know that didn't go through.
I don't really that a federal Europe would be good for Europe and the rest of the world. I believe t would more likely become like the U.S. and lose its image again!
we don't have to imitate the US... Federalism exists in many variations.. and I adhere to a rather decentralized one. I think, however, w could benefit a lot from standing more united on a series of issues. than we do on the moment.
Cant stand that smug bastard !!!! typical fianna failure crook !!!!!!!! lying bastard , christ he praising communism now !!!! Get off the map bastard ,irish people are being forced to leave now !!!!!!
Again, a euro disciple lies and gives out misinformation. He knows he is lying to his own people. I takes a woman to speak the truth. If a salesman gave you a document that was imposable to decipher, would you sign it?
A United States of Europe would have, in a generation, more non-Europeans in it than 'Europeans'.
