I like the stretch effect. You can still have the loud bang when it contracts again. The stretch makes sense. It's going fast, so it looks like it is everywhere at once. Personally I like Voyagers warp effect. good stretch, flash, just add the bang and you got the perfect warp jump.
@trekgeek1 why would there be a bang? light barrier not sounds barrier remember ^^ but i understand personal preference i prefer it without the bang makes it seem far more sleek and advanced, more like its slipping into warp not hammering into a wall.
Yeah, I know there is no sound in space, it's just cool and makes it powerful. Silent slip into warp huh? Well, I guess everyone has their own strange preference. Bang, silence, it's all trek, and that's what matters. Peace and long life.
@trekgeek1 I just mean to me it seems more advanced as all the ships before had big loud bangs as if they had to force their way through with brute strength. Now the sleek advanced E just glides past it. See what i am getting at?
Yeah, you believe that the E appears to do it much more effortlessly and thus reflects a higher technological level. I agree that is probably more accurate, but it just seems to lack that finish. It's like having to sneeze and then it just goes away and you are robbed of that nice finish.
ah but lets not forget the stretch warp effect that the prometheus uses and furthermore having that warp effect for the sovreign class was actualy the way that they first wanted it b4 they first bought out the bigE.
In one episode of ST:TNG the ent-d travelled at somewhere like warp 9.9999999999 so they could get to a place where no man has got before (I think that was the name of the episode?)
It was the TNG1st season episode "where no one has gone before", and the Enterprise-D surpassed warp 10 (with the traveler's help) allowing them to go more than a billion light years to a realm almost beyond spacetime itself. Oh, and I don't know why the people in the star wars universe even NEED a hyperdrive to go so fast, they are too busy blowing themselves to kingdom come (hence the name of their series) to bother using their technology for exploration, therfore making it useless...
I'm pretty sure if a ship is advanced enough to have warp drive, its advanced enough to have sensors elaborate enough to allow them to plot a course so they won't bump into any planets on the way out of the system.. just a little common sense..
The thing about engaging warp drive in a solar system being a bad idea has to do with being so close to a singularity like the sun. Enough of it could cause solar disturbances or instabilities
Almost... Except the Sovereign class's unique nacelle configuration prevents potential gravimetric/subspace interference that might interact with a star typical of standard warp propulsion up to that point; so, like the variable geometry warp fields created by the pivoting nacelles of the intrepid class, the enterprise is also able to traverse space at warp speed without threat of causing a potentially hazardous solar disturbance.

Beautiful beautiful warp. It was weird without the flash at first, but now it feels much smoother and more elegant without the flash.

The U.S.S. Enterprise - E is the coolest, badest ship ever in the Sci-Fi world.
I would take it over anything from Star Wars, Babylon 5, Battleship Galactica, Aliens, Avatar, etc.
All I would have to do is fire a couple of quantum torpedos and those other ships are finish!

Remember the warp from the original and the Motion Picture? That was so psychedelic.

It was a bit trippy, I keep expecting to see a pink elephant appear in the middle of it lol.

I agree too, especially in theaters. JUST the scenes where they went to warp made the movie 100% better.

In full agreement.

Well, since the captain is James T. Kirk, the warp entry should look like more like from Star Trek 2,3,4,5,6(if you watched them) :-D

I agree. It's sad though cos that was the last time it went to warp. RIP enterprise d

Isn't engaging the Warp Drive in a solar system a bad idea?
Then again that entire show was a bad idea.

No, you miss the point.

A star (like our sun) is not a singularity. You're probably thinking of black holes.

i love it when a ship goes to warp or into hyperspace. the enterprise-e is bending the space around it.

I do too.
"Hyperspace" is a term not used in Star Trek, but in Babylon 5 and Star Wars.

The best stretch effect on warp is visible on the NCC 1701 D in TNG. This one is almost as good as that.

Agreed. I know the original series was back in the '60s but the effects were really cack compared to them now.
