@ianjoSity Hey, thanks for your kind words! I had a Tumblr when they first came out, stopped using it, then it blew up when I wasn't watching. I really have no idea what it's good for, though, can you explain?
It's painful to listen to this, it sounds like me when I was younger. And I bet this palce claism to be an anti racist. When will people like you end your hypocrisy. WHta right do you have to dictate what is and isn't racist? And isn't it a giant coincidence that it is centred around white/black populations and that WHITE folks are overpowering BLACK folks in terms of stereotyping.
It's a dangerous mindset that basically says only WHITES can be racist. That's IS racist.
''Black people don't have power, therefore they can't be racist''
This bullshit get so tiring. The fact you place us in different groups, seperate us and divide us further and yet have the AUDCAITY to say we are complex individuals shows how much of a hypocrite you are.
You do realize that these charaters are not written by White ''folks'' they are usually written by Jews who also make the same characters about White people.
MLK dreamed that one day people would be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin, but people of this world, especially those socially and deeply affected by the aftermath of slavery in North America, must learn how to appreciate the beautiful of diversity. You don't have to ignore people's differences, pretending that you "don't see color" in order to be a fair and just human being. Love and accept human differences as much as you do human commonalities.
The sad thing is, the same can be said for Native Americans who are often portrayed as pow wow dancing savages, the Latinos who are often portrayed as overpopulating immigrants and drug-smuggling gangsters, the Asians who are often portrayed as the ninjas and kung fu fighters, and the native Africans who are often portrayed on television as poor, third-world beggars. The truth is, telvision is a LIE. Tell -a - lie- vision. Turn it off and get to know real people, not exaggerated stereotypes.

@LiloPelakai "White" people have been doing this since we started defining ourselves by our skin color, which is actually a pretty recent development in the scope of human history.
Amen! I also hate how people generalize "white" and put everybody who's "white" into that category. Fuck I'm white, but I'm eastern European and I was treated like shit by "white" people. White isn't a race!
I applaud you on your unbiased view of the video. You came from an impartial standpoint...just objectively observing its content and analyzing it with a clear head. Your critique on this video is much appreciated - given everything you too into account. Well spoken sir!
And why do we need to know if you are black? Why does that somehow legitimize your message further? I'm a White Male and I don't apporve, not shocking seeing as this video divides people further and you yourself proclaim your racial background in some sort of exclamation of pride.
WHy am I denied that? WHy is it OK to make racial attacks on people who are white and then say it's OK because Whites have power. It's a bullshit double standard.
@TikofTok I said I was Black A) because I wanted him to know that as a Black girl-(being that is who the original video is directed towards)- I appreciate his message. B) because I felt like it. You seem anygry and bitter so tell me this... Why are you REALLY mad??? Of course that's a rhetorical question.
The video was not directed at any race in particular. Why do you feel your race is so imortant you have to mention it? If race doesn't mean anything, why mention it at all?
Why are you allowed to practice such an ideal yet I cant. Just like the video maker dictates. Of course, I'm mad. I'm being told that I as an individual cannot achieve anything on my own merits because I am white and that I live in some perfect little bubble while blacks live in some hell.
@TikofTok The video was titled "Shit White girls say to Black girls", so how is that not directed to any race in particular? Of course it's for the entertainment of ALL people, but who watches the vid & says to themselves - "Yea that's happened to me b4"?? You read way too deeply into me mentioning myself being a Black girl. Am I proud of that? Yes. Did pride have anything to do w/ it @ that time? No. I'm just glad that some1 completely opposite of me saw past the comedy & UNDERSTOOD.
WOW! Thank you!! My white co workers just don't get it. I'm the only black person on staff, and it's sometimes just uncomfortable. They say things, that they have no idea that offend me. I should show them this video...
Gets what? That you have racial views and think it's OK to attack whites based on the fact some shit happened decades ago? This entire video bases on the idea that whites have power? Wow.. really... in a White Majority country? Do I complain about Africa where there is an African majority? Nope.
How are you not safe? Whites are the biggest race hate victims by a long shot and yet you believe YOU aren't safe? It isn't whites killing blacks, it's blacks killing blacks.
@MsAerialAngel I don't think anywhere in his video did he say that hardship is exclusive to black people. in our country, majority white people have had and still have better social, economic, and political standings than blacks do. For your circumstance, it is important to consider the frame of reference. While the kids who taunted and jeered at you were being ignorant and discriminatory, they were not being racist. What they did to you had no effect on the larger system that upholds whiteness.
also i remember my friends ,very clearly saying when we were talking about hot women, saying,"there are not that many hot black girls." i swear that was said to me, in front of me. they also claim that light skinned black girls are hotter than dark skinned. i have no personal preference in skin tone and i have see plenty of beautiful black women dark skinned and light skinned. there are small hints in of unintentional racism in things that people say to someone who is of another race
finally someone who gets it. im a black male and almost all of the shit said in the videos has been said to me in reality. some things dont apply because im a male but the majority of it happens all the time. people constantly say "i dont mean to be racist but.....", random people touch my curly hair, white friends try to hook me up with their blk girlfriends, and i get told i act white because i speak well and im educated. my friends also think dark skinned blk women are not attractive
@DjSkyfaze I recently had a quasi "debate" with European Americans who couldn't (or just refused to) understand why African Amerians today must talk about the experiences of slavery. By the end of the discussion, I realized that some European Americans are just determined not to make any connections between past and present. African Americans, on the other hand, see and live the deeper, underlying effects of slavery every day and your experience is just one example among many.
@PowerfulMindsofWomen i agree people think because slavery is over then blacks are having a great old time. but clear evidence of its effects can be seen in the inner cities of america. past generations of blacks in the u.s. didnt get to go to college/get a proper education, so they had no choice but to work crap jobs or resort to crime. they didnt have the resources to better themselves and were not given a chance.
@DjSkyfaze The problem with so many Whites in America is that they refuse to take any responsibility for the horrific crime against humanity that their ancestors committed, yet they socially and financially BENEFIT from this crime to date. That's another reason why the concept of race continues to be a painful problem in America. Healing begins with acknowledging a problem. At least this commentator is acknowledging the ways in which the media stereotypes African Americans.
In everyday activities whites are filtered into the lives of minorities..Santa's white (who know's when you're sleeping and awake) Jesus is portrayed as a white man with blue eyes and sometimes dirty blond hair. Now whites are rapping, the one staple we used (back in the day, not this crap played today) as an outlet for frustrations.. White culture is imposed on us everyday. If we look different or where our hair differently were seen as unpalatable.
Everywhere white people look it confirms their existence. white Judges, white juries, white Senate majority white media. Now please understand, no one hates white people. I'm not seeking to promote hatred, just understanding. The lesser of us "black people" are portrayed as the behavior for the majority (meaning criminals, crack addicts..etc). White have the wonderful freedom of never being boxed in.
(continued) even though I made a great salary and had no intention of stealing. Whites will never know what it's like to have someone approach you as "hey girlfriend", because they think this is the only thing you'll respond to. (saddening) You're right many are not aware of how much power they have because they've always had it. It's like a Hilton trying to grasp the concept of being broke when all their lives they been wealthy.
Thank you, Thank you, thank you. I think certain information is better received if presented by the a person that's viewed as non-threatening. We can watch Jersey Shore, Real Housewives of ..., and any other negative portrayal of whites and whites get the privilege to be able to say "that's them, that's not me". While most blacks/minorities don't have the same option. It's so hurtful to have to live with someone following me around a store in my business suit.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I disagree on so many levels. Please stop explaining "to the masses" what power, privilege and racism is and how it operates in the media. What you're saying might be based in truth but this video does nothing but further divide women.
@dcd19761 The fact that you think a black woman honestly sharing her experience further divides women indicates that your privilege is tricking you into thinking that women are not already divided...
@futuretalkvideos I have no problem with any WOMEN expressing her opinion on ANYTHING but there are constructive ways to do so. Moreover, I am aware the women are divided; I would just argue this widens the gap. It's not a "public service message" it's mocking an individual's ignorance. Please refrain from suggesting that my privilege is tricking me; I've spent almost half my life helping those who don't have the same privileges gain an education and move forward.
@dcd19761 Pray tell, how should women stop being divided if white women refuse to listen to black women talk about their experiences?
And your privilege IS tricking you. It's not an insult, it's just true. I'm not saying I'm better than you. I inadvertently act sexist and racist (and many other things) every single day. I cannot judge anyone or the shape of their journey toward becoming more socially conscious. But this "women stand united!" argument is evocative of racist 2nd wave feminism.
@futuretalkvideos I agree... or when black and latino and Asian women refuse to listen to white women talking about their experiences, because whites aren't allowed to be offended by any racism they experience, and also, whites apparently can't suffer from racism. A black girl told me this, anyway. She must be right.
@LiloPelakai She was right. If we define racism as the institutionalization of white supremacy (and that is how I define it), then it is impossible for whites to experience racism.
@futuretalkvideos Honestly, as a white girl, when my friends (mainly Black ones, not gonna lie) posted the "Sh*t White Girls Say" video, I laughed my ass off. It is even funnier that other white people are gettin all offended by it and shit too. It is ridiculous. I have heard white people say all that dumb shit and more to African Americans. Some of the worst stuff I hear if said when no black people are present. As if that gives white people a free pass when there are only other whites. Please.
dude u r soo right its so hard being a black girl going to highschool and its even harder being the black girl who listen to green day and radiohead and is on the honor roll. people are always shocked about me and always asking me what are you like im another species and they have a hard time adapting to it and its not just the white people its the black people too. black people are so brainwashed by how we are portrayed on tv and on the internet that they are even believing it and its just sad
I enjoyed this. Your very open-minded to critical ideas that are creeping onto the backs of Americans. I honestly wish that I came into contact with more white people with your line of thinking on a daily basis ... not to say they don't exist... just that if they are here that they wouldn't be afraid to address cross cultural issues like these that you have taken on so strongly .... definitely going to check out your blog ! Much love Many blessings
@futuretalkvideos that isn't to be considered racism because black people as a whole do not have power to limit the individual progress of any white person and we are born with the upper hand. That to me is straight up bullshit. Racism exists in all shapes and forms. It's something I've felt on my own skin too, even though I am white. Having said that, I honestly thought nothing of the vid you're speaking of. I just thought it portrayed a minority of very unfortunate people.
@futuretalkvideos Hey, had read this before and it's very interesting and unfortunately, very true especially speaking of America (where I do not live) but I was speaking on racism on a small scale between individuals. The idea that a black person cannot possibly be racist towards a white person is just wrong and atrocious to me, but the document and what you say is very true. I don't see the last 2 comments I posted here though. I hope you had read them :/
@MissLalaland89 You posted MANY duplicates, I attempted to leave just one copy. I apologize if I accidentally deleted the originals, I honestly did not mean to do that.
I don't really know anything about race politics outside of the United States, but what you call "racism on a small scale between individuals," I just call prejudice. Anyone can prejudge anyone. But racism, in my opinion, is the institutionalization of white supremacy.
@futuretalkvideos Oh damn. I kept reposting them because I was getting an error message everytime. I had no idea duplicates got posted :/ Sorry. Ah, so you're saying that whether it's individual black on white, white on black, white on white etc 'racism,' It is merely prejudice? I understand what you are saying though. I think that's definitely very true for America (I do not see it so much in Europe) which to me is especially damn sad..
@futuretalkvideos I agree about the media in most cases (although I do think perhaps people in the entertainment industry aren't doing themselves or anyone else any favours since they also propagate those stereotypes and certain images very well all by themselves). What I was really speaking of was racism on a very small individual scale. Nowadays people say that well...if a black person throws racially motivated slurs at a white person, it isn't Racist because as a group cont
I agree with you with you to a certain extent, but that doesn't make it right or OK to do, for any race.. And not all representations are bad ones either. Not even close.
@SSJinchuuriki Only if a white person's comfort is more important than a black person's right to express the reality of their experience is it not okay. And if you think that, then I don't think I'm going to be able to convince you of anything.
And I specifically stated that one-sided representations can be harmful even if they are not "bad," because the problem is when white media tries to mold black identity, regardless of shape.
@futuretalkvideos I can understand where you're coming from. But I think you're wrong in some areas. I'm entitled to my opinion. And no, you can't convince me of anything because you'd have to prove a lot of things to me which would be impossible for someone such as yourself or anyone for that matter.
I LOVE YOU. Thank you so much, in sharing this with my white friends who don't understand that I have to be extra good and try extra hard to be "normal" and I still am expected to have "that black girl attitude" or wear a weave and huge earrings, regardless of how I actually dress and behave!
I don't normally comment on things however, as a mixed/black woman, I just want to say THANK YOU for making that point so plainly. I couldn't have stated it better. Dialogue like this needs to go viral, not another sexy video or cat playing the piano. Nothing is hotter than intelligent, open, and respectful conversation (although I'm digging your earring and beard, too).
(cont'd) @MBradley234: How can one define racism without a discussion of power? You yourself refer to racism as oppressive; power differentials are inherent to systems of oppression. Moreover, it is precisely the inequality which racism reproduces and reinforces that makes it so pernicious.
@futuretalkvideos: incredibly well stated. There's an excellent book by a professor of sociology at Smith College entitled "Bad Boys: Public Schools and the Making of Black Masculinity" which discusses, in part, the ways that negative portrayals of black masculinity in main stream media lead to racist perceptions of black boys by both educators and members of the criminal justice system and the effects therein.
@MBradley234 Email me -- info@futuretalk.co -- so we can engage in real dialog. I don't understand your point here, and I'd like to hear you out without character limits.
As a black woman having heard 98% of the stuff Franchesca portrayed in her video, I simply have to applaud you for this. It's nice to hear someone sensible and well-spoken addressing the situation! (:
Yikes... This video has got such a response! I think some people need to stop getting their knickers in a twist ( perhaps 'panties in a bunch' would be the American way of saying this?)...@ some of the black female posters...Seriously?!?! STOP EMBARASSING US!! @ Some of the people that claim all this has been said before by POC.... Yes, It's all been said before, but not in such a concise manner...
I agree with you to some extent. But the Liberal Media does indeed portray EVERY race and minority (including Whites) as their stereotype, along with; lesbians, gays, transgenders, bisexuals, etc. And as member of LGBT community, I see it all the time whenever there is a gay guy in a television series or film.
@matthewthecoolkid I agree that media portrayals are bad for more than just black folks. The problem is not always misrepresentation but rather underrepresentation. Media harps on a few specific kinds of (black/latino/gay/etc) people until we think that ALL people of that group are like that.
This is simply not a problem white folks have to deal with, however, because you can find all different kinds of white characters in the media. Overrepresentation.
@matthewthecoolkid Now add being black on top of it. Make sure the LGBT doesn't ignore racial issues in their community. That kind of hypocrisy shouldn't be tolerated either.
THANK YOUUU!!!!!

@divalizzous
TikofTok 2 days ago
@TikofTok I said I was Black A) because I wanted him to know that as a Black girl-(being that is who the original video is directed towards)- I appreciate his message. B) because I felt like it. You seem anygry and bitter so tell me this... Why are you REALLY mad??? Of course that's a rhetorical question.
divalizzous 2 days ago
@divalizzous
TikofTok 2 days ago
@TikofTok The video was titled "Shit White girls say to Black girls", so how is that not directed to any race in particular? Of course it's for the entertainment of ALL people, but who watches the vid & says to themselves - "Yea that's happened to me b4"?? You read way too deeply into me mentioning myself being a Black girl. Am I proud of that? Yes. Did pride have anything to do w/ it @ that time? No. I'm just glad that some1 completely opposite of me saw past the comedy & UNDERSTOOD.

PowerfulMindsofWomen 1 week ago
@PowerfulMindsofWomen i agree people think because slavery is over then blacks are having a great old time. but clear evidence of its effects can be seen in the inner cities of america. past generations of blacks in the u.s. didnt get to go to college/get a proper education, so they had no choice but to work crap jobs or resort to crime. they didnt have the resources to better themselves and were not given a chance.
DjSkyfaze 1 week ago
@DjSkyfaze The problem with so many Whites in America is that they refuse to take any responsibility for the horrific crime against humanity that their ancestors committed, yet they socially and financially BENEFIT from this crime to date. That's another reason why the concept of race continues to be a painful problem in America. Healing begins with acknowledging a problem. At least this commentator is acknowledging the ways in which the media stereotypes African Americans.

I'm not promoting hate and division. I just want whites to understand that the lives of white people and black people are indeed quite different.
NappyHalo 1 month ago
In everyday activities whites are filtered into the lives of minorities..Santa's white (who know's when you're sleeping and awake) Jesus is portrayed as a white man with blue eyes and sometimes dirty blond hair. Now whites are rapping, the one staple we used (back in the day, not this crap played today) as an outlet for frustrations.. White culture is imposed on us everyday. If we look different or where our hair differently were seen as unpalatable.
NappyHalo 1 month ago
Everywhere white people look it confirms their existence. white Judges, white juries, white Senate majority white media. Now please understand, no one hates white people. I'm not seeking to promote hatred, just understanding. The lesser of us "black people" are portrayed as the behavior for the majority (meaning criminals, crack addicts..etc). White have the wonderful freedom of never being boxed in.
NappyHalo 1 month ago
(continued) even though I made a great salary and had no intention of stealing. Whites will never know what it's like to have someone approach you as "hey girlfriend", because they think this is the only thing you'll respond to. (saddening) You're right many are not aware of how much power they have because they've always had it. It's like a Hilton trying to grasp the concept of being broke when all their lives they been wealthy.
NappyHalo 1 month ago
Thank you, Thank you, thank you. I think certain information is better received if presented by the a person that's viewed as non-threatening. We can watch Jersey Shore, Real Housewives of ..., and any other negative portrayal of whites and whites get the privilege to be able to say "that's them, that's not me". While most blacks/minorities don't have the same option. It's so hurtful to have to live with someone following me around a store in my business suit.

I disagree on so many levels. Please stop explaining "to the masses" what power, privilege and racism is and how it operates in the media. What you're saying might be based in truth but this video does nothing but further divide women.
dcd19761 1 month ago
@dcd19761 The fact that you think a black woman honestly sharing her experience further divides women indicates that your privilege is tricking you into thinking that women are not already divided...
futuretalkvideos 1 month ago 29
@futuretalkvideos I have no problem with any WOMEN expressing her opinion on ANYTHING but there are constructive ways to do so. Moreover, I am aware the women are divided; I would just argue this widens the gap. It's not a "public service message" it's mocking an individual's ignorance. Please refrain from suggesting that my privilege is tricking me; I've spent almost half my life helping those who don't have the same privileges gain an education and move forward.
dcd19761 1 month ago
@dcd19761 Pray tell, how should women stop being divided if white women refuse to listen to black women talk about their experiences?
And your privilege IS tricking you. It's not an insult, it's just true. I'm not saying I'm better than you. I inadvertently act sexist and racist (and many other things) every single day. I cannot judge anyone or the shape of their journey toward becoming more socially conscious. But this "women stand united!" argument is evocative of racist 2nd wave feminism.
futuretalkvideos 1 month ago 24
@futuretalkvideos I agree... or when black and latino and Asian women refuse to listen to white women talking about their experiences, because whites aren't allowed to be offended by any racism they experience, and also, whites apparently can't suffer from racism. A black girl told me this, anyway. She must be right.
LiloPelakai 1 month ago
@LiloPelakai She was right. If we define racism as the institutionalization of white supremacy (and that is how I define it), then it is impossible for whites to experience racism.

Some of the worst stuff I hear if said when no black people are present. As if that gives white people a free pass when there are only other whites. Please.

Much love Many blessings
nappiebynature 1 month ago

I hope you had read them :/
MissLalaland89 1 month ago
@MissLalaland89 You posted MANY duplicates, I attempted to leave just one copy. I apologize if I accidentally deleted the originals, I honestly did not mean to do that.
I don't really know anything about race politics outside of the United States, but what you call "racism on a small scale between individuals," I just call prejudice. Anyone can prejudge anyone. But racism, in my opinion, is the institutionalization of white supremacy.
futuretalkvideos 1 month ago
@futuretalkvideos Oh damn. I kept reposting them because I was getting an error message everytime. I had no idea duplicates got posted :/ Sorry. Ah, so you're saying that whether it's individual black on white, white on black, white on white etc 'racism,' It is merely prejudice? I understand what you are saying though. I think that's definitely very true for America (I do not see it so much in Europe) which to me is especially damn sad..
MissLalaland89 1 month ago
@futuretalkvideos I agree about the media in most cases (although I do think perhaps people in the entertainment industry aren't doing themselves or anyone else any favours since they also propagate those stereotypes and certain images very well all by themselves). What I was really speaking of was racism on a very small individual scale. Nowadays people say that well...if a black person throws racially motivated slurs at a white person, it isn't Racist because as a group cont

SSJinchuuriki 1 month ago
@SSJinchuuriki Only if a white person's comfort is more important than a black person's right to express the reality of their experience is it not okay. And if you think that, then I don't think I'm going to be able to convince you of anything.
And I specifically stated that one-sided representations can be harmful even if they are not "bad," because the problem is when white media tries to mold black identity, regardless of shape.

@futuretalkvideos I can understand where you're coming from. But I think you're wrong in some areas. I'm entitled to my opinion. (cont'd) @MBradley234: How can one define racism without a discussion of power? You yourself refer to racism as oppressive; power differentials are inherent to systems of oppression. Moreover, it is precisely the inequality which racism reproduces and reinforces that makes it so pernicious.
irleventh 1 month ago
@futuretalkvideos: incredibly well stated. There's an excellent book by a professor of sociology at Smith College entitled "Bad Boys: Public Schools and the Making of Black Masculinity" which discusses, in part, the ways that negative portrayals of black masculinity in main stream media lead to racist perceptions of black boys by both educators and members of the criminal justice system and the effects therein.

I agree with you to some extent. But the Liberal Media does indeed portray EVERY race and minority (including Whites) as their stereotype, along with; lesbians, gays, transgenders, bisexuals, etc. And as member of LGBT community, I see it all the time whenever there is a gay guy in a television series or film.
matthewthecoolkid 1 month ago
@matthewthecoolkid I agree that media portrayals are bad for more than just black folks. The problem is not always misrepresentation but rather underrepresentation. Media harps on a few specific kinds of (black/latino/gay/etc) people until we think that ALL people of that group are like that.
This is simply not a problem white folks have to deal with, however, because you can find all different kinds of white characters in the media. Overrepresentation.
