  • mine doesn't have the transcoded media or high quality media

  • Can you get the speed to anything other than 50%, 25%, or 5%?

  • Hey you guys!

Check out my tutorial on how to ramp slow mo on final cut 7. If any of you still use that editing program. ;). But check it out, its clear and will defiantly help you get the nice professional looking slow mo you want!

  • Interesting.. But your clip is still artefacting. Tip: DON'T USE INTERLACED FOOTAGE! Any camera that can shoot progressive 50/60fps plus, then retimed using Optical Flow WILL PRODUCE BETTER RESULTS. E.g Panasonic SD900 shoots 50fps @27mbs @1080p.. Only £550! So it doesn't cost a fortune for really good slow mo!

  • @FCPWHAT You're right, in fact this tutorial teaches you how to use Optical Flow AND deinterlace a clip to slow it down even further, but of course if your camera shoots progressive 50 or 60 frames per seconds you can just conform your footage to 25p and the Retime it to gain better results ;)

  • When i hit cmd r the tool bar on the side doesn't pop open it just puts a yellow bar over my clip for whatever speed i want to play it in. any idea on how to open that side bar

  • or you could just d it in under 2 minutes in motion 5

  • @qdog1342 Stabilization is quicker in Final Cut, and Color Board is a feature. JES Deinterlacer is a necessary step for some kinds of footage. So actually there's no real advantage in doing this in Motion 5, especially if your editing a video with more clips in it.

  • I don't get the option to select 'optimized media'. its just grey and i can't click it :(!!!

  • what are you recording with ?

  • Exact what I was looking for. Thank you!

  • amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks a lot!

  • ma hai salvato la vita!

  • @sKaTOshhhhh Mi fa piacere!

  • PLEASE HELP!!

Really great tutorial, simple and clear, but mine doesn't seem to work :(

I don't know why but at 2:40 I don't have the option to click 'Filter chroma' (that button isn't there at all) and at 3:30 I don't have the option to select 'ProRes 422' or any of the ProRes options. Do you know why this is happening???

I tried it with the Photo-JPEG option and the end result wasn't smooth slow motion at all, it was really "clunky"

    PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!

  • @lazzawazza93

    same here

    please help us

  • @lazzawazza93 Are you 100% sure you got the last available version of JES Deinterlacer. If there's not ProRes in the output tab, look for Apple Intermediate Codec that is very similar, or do Export->QuickTime Movie. It's an option.

  • @FabrizioLINUZRinaldi

I think so, I literally just downloaded JES Deinterlacer from the official website after watching this video. The 'ProRes 422' option is there, I just can't click it. But the 'Filter Chroma' button isn't there at all :/ Does the video have to be a certain quality to use ProRes 422??

Also, what will Export->QuickTime Movie do? :)

  • @lazzawazza93 Export->QuickTime allows you to use QuickTime own compression Settings to export video. You should definitely try that option, maybe there you can select ProRes or Apple Intermediate Codec, or any other intra-frame suitable codec. Hope this helps ;)

  • @FabrizioLINUZRinaldi

thanks I'll try it out this weekend because I'm away from home atm and can't access final cut, i'll let you know if it works :) If it doesn't work, it doesn't matter too much, i'll just use the Retime Editor in final cut, my camera shoots 50fps so it still looks quite good like that :)

  • thanks for that tutorial, but i was wondering if this would keep the audio of a clip and slow that down as well? or would it be bad quality audio?

  • @Skateboard4God The "slowed" audio is generally bad. But you can use it if you want.

  • talk mother fraker.. jeez are u mute?

  • yeah love the vid, quick question, when i look for my 422 file under the events folder, i dont have a folder that is called transcoded media, what do i need to do? Thanks

  • Hey man, this vid is really helpful. I do have one question though. If I import footage straight from my GoPro camera, do I need to change the format before I try any of this stuff? I didnt quite follow exactly what you were doing at the beginning. I tried this with about a 3 second clip and its taking a super long time. Any tips on how to fix that? Thanks!

  • @bobbyglaser1 You have to check if the GoPro footage is either Interlaced or Progressive. If it's progressive you want to import that directly in FCP X and use Optical Flow to slow it down.

  • Why don't you try TALKING to explain the shit your doing. Are you afraid of your own voice? Fucking nerds.

  • @HowToEatWaffles You're comment is awesome, thanks! BTW subscribe to the channel ;) PS: Yep, I'm a fucking nerd.

  • Thank You. I have the HF S100 and this video has help me out a lot.

  • @chops411 Great! You're welcome.

  • i have a problem, All my clips gets ruined when there in final cut pro. I have specs that is required, but every time i import a file it gets some green flash that is ruing the clips Please help!

  • @xXEllisGamerTagXx Is that DV or what? The problem is probably related to the codec. Can't help very much with few details, sorry.

  • haha garageband music

  • @kjh720 Actually it's a royalty free song by Kevin MacLeod, you should google him, it's great stuff.

  • thanks this is the best

  • @danielkassinen Thank you, man. Sharing is caring ;)

  • super nice video

  • @coolcooljonathan Thanks!

  • dude how many fps is this ?

  • JUST GOT FINAL CUT PRO I NEED AL THE HELP I CAN GET

  • Hey, great job on the vid, clear n precise but i have on issue. The video is no doubt smooth but it still jerks (smoothly). How do i fix that thanks.

  • Thanks much for this tutorial! Unfortunately, I'm having the same issue as MrFirearcade. Prores 422 codec doesn't show up as an option. However, I do have all the additional software loaded. Thoughts? Thanks again!

  • nice vid! what mac do you use?

  • sorry for asking it but I just can't see a smooth video... I've done everything you told but there're still some jerks... I would like to find how to obtain a twixtor-like video... I just see that in JES desinterlacer there is no "color filter", and no ways to choose ProRes 422. Can you help me ?

  • @rouliofr You can choose different codecs for output. Maybe the video is not smooth because you're trying to slow down some very shaky footage.

  • using gopro footage too and i see your video still has the blur/trails on the edges of any moving person or object. how can you get rid of that? also can i use MPEG stream clip to do the same thing?

  • Comment removed

  • When I deinterlace the video and import it to FCP, the video is in slow motion, yes, but it's in red? the whole video is in red color! any ideas, what did i do wrong?

  • @helmling93 That's weird. You should try different codecs...

  • @MrFirearcade this is probably because you don't have the prores 422 codec on your machine, to get it, go into FCPX, go into the Final Cut Pro X menu (just to the right of the apple logo top right) and click "Download Additional Content", software update will then search for updates and one of them should be an update for FCPX, install this and the codec should be on your machine

  • Thanks so much! This was really helpful! :)

  • awesome, I'm going to give this a go for sure, i have done a few time-lapse videos but never done slow-motion because my camera doesn't support higher frame rates! but this works really well!

  • @TVGStv I'm glad you've found this helpful ;)

  • @FabrizioLINUZRinaldi I d'ont know why, but when I do optical flow (with gopro) it kinds of goes back and forth.... it jams, like if the image is vibrating. When you play, the image will not be smove, it will for a fraction of second show the image from beforre. If you do understand, could you please help me. Thanks

  • thx for the tutorial this is what i was looking for

  • whats that song at the beginning

  • @puchalaka Link in the description ;)

  • YESSSSS I CANT FREAKIN WAIT TILL I GET THIS! My version of IMovie doesnt have slow motion and ive been dying to have it again :D

  • ....while you show your steps....

  • its hard to understand what you mean, cause Iam missing the explanation. Did you ever try to read whats shown on the sreen while show your steps ???

  • @benibube Yes I tried. I suggest you to pause the video if you can't read everything. BTW for my next videotutorial, coming in the next few weeks, I'll keep your issue on mind. Thanks for the feedback

  • WHO CAN LEARN FROM THIS ...???

  • @benibube What do you mean?

  • its not allowing me to tick the optimize media box!!! @FabrizioLINUZRinaldi @shazlydays

  • @robotmamo What kind of footage are you trying to import?

  • @FabrizioLINUZRinaldi umm, i just imported a video from my camera to iPhoto,

  • @robotmamo Maybe the footage is already "optimal"

  • @FabrizioLINUZRinaldi ohh, that kinda makes sense since i recorded my footage with a 1080 camera.

    thanks

  • Is it for getting no shaky or for slow motion ?

  • @shazlydays Slow-motion, if you just want the "no shaky" don't deinterlace, just use Final Cut Pro X stabilize feature ;)

  • @FabrizioLINUZRinaldi

But i see that Video Quality > Optical Flow also helps right ??

  • @shazlydays Optical Flow affects the Retiming because it calculates the movement of the pixels of the clip (that's why it's so slow). To stabilize the video Final Cut Pro X does similar calculations, but it's a different thing.

  • @FabrizioLINUZRinaldi ]

Thx but how to stabilize ?? where can i get this Feature

  • @shazlydays After you click on a clip, in the info tab there is the stabilize feature. Take a look at the User Manual if you don't find it ;)

  • @FabrizioLINUZRinaldi

Thank you so much you're awesome n i subbed :)

  • @shazlydays Thanks a lot for subscribing!! ;)

  • Hey, Im following this tutorial, but my videos come out red once imported into fcpx. they play fine in quicktime from my desktop, but once i bring them into fcpx, they are red.

  • @rook2485 If the video come out red it means Final Cut Pro X cannot find the source files. Are you sure you're importing them correctly?

  • Hey great video. I just downloaded JEs deinterlacer, but it's like I don't have the same options as you, I cannot select the ''filter chroma'' button, it's not even there, and I can't seem to render it direct with Pro res 422 !? it's just grey, I can't press it. any help ?

    Thanks in advance

  • @Fiascoproduction It's really strange, are you importing in JES Deinterlacer the clips that Final Cut Pro X converted to Pro Res 422?

  • @FabrizioLINUZRinaldi Yeah, I've done everything you've done in your video, but the Pro res 422 are still grey!? anything else I can do to get the same effect as you?

  • Hey is there Any way i can motion track in motion 5 and then share the video with final cut pro x?

  • I have OS X and Final Cut Pro X and this doesnt work for me. When I pull up the file in JES deinterlace the "ok" button is always greyed out so i cant deinterlace after I select my settings.... any tips??

  • @410MaXiMuS That's a bit strange. Are you sure you're in the input tab? And in the output tab have you set the destination folder and format for the export? If everything is set up correctly I really don't know what's going on. Is it up to date? BTW you can email the developer or check the forums (everything is in the official website)

  • thank you!!!

  • @AltamimiDirector You're welcome! ;)

but...... why you don't put the double language? :D

  • @gas85 grazie mille!!

  • @LaMaxSound Grazie mille! :)

  • Ottimo tutorial, è potentissimo il nuovo X!!

  • @beddamatrixz grazie!!
