  • Luv it! Country at it's best. This song brings back wonderful memories!

  • Gotta luv the chick in the white spotted shirt .

  • What movie is this from?

  • R.I.P. Billie

  • ik heb altijd van je muziek gehouden

    vaarwel lieverd

  • Wow, so sad, RIP BJS. This song makes my all my hairs stand on end, have not heard this for 35 year, what a great song, C/W, Pop, AC just a great tune.

  • RIP Billie jo you will be missed

  • RIP Billie Jo... a good and decent person, and a wonderful singer

  • very sad she has now gone but she lived to a good age....what a great tune this is...I love it...

  • RIP, Billie Jo Spears...She died today, on December 14, 2011.

  • i come from a big family..14 brothers and sisters...and we grew up listnin to country..love this billie jo is a fav...we are from scotland..

  • It's there doll, you're just not willing to find it.

  • Just saw her tonight on her 2011 Ladies of Country Tour in the UK, at Tunbridge Wells. Her voice is still huge but there's next to nothing left of the lady herself. She doesn't look too well I'd say, so get to see her.

This song made me cry...even more poignant when sung by someone whose blanket days are long behind them...

  • @daydayhayday

hope your wrong honest nice person

  • @daydayhayday Yes, sadly, this lady is, well, frail. How gutsy, though, to keep touring and performing (so well). Like kjdiva99 I sincerely hope she appears soon in the US. There aren't too many of her talent left around.

  • @RhineStoneGaucho Frail?.... looks pretty dam good to me.

  • I was 13 when this song was #1 on the charts in '75. I loved it then and love it even more today. I would sell the devil my soul to see her perform live. Hope she can find some dates to do here in the states. I'd drive miles and days to see her!!!

  • Awesome without a doubt!!!!

  • This great South Texan is still performing (2011), even in her seventies and despite various health issues, mainly in the UK, especially Northern Ireland. For those in the area, don't miss her May 2011 appearances in Middlesborough, Skegness and Grantham. I sure wish I could see even one of them! One of the nicest people on the planet.

  • What a Country Voice - love her and this song ! Thanks !

  • This song, along with a few by The Kendalls, and Queen of the Silver Dollar by Dave and Sugar, then throw in Johnny Duncan and Janie Fricke along with a little Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard. Now add a touch of George Strait, Alan Jackson, and Reba Macentire and you have the recipe for Pure Country Music!

Flush this fake crap they call country today down the crapper!

  • what a band.......the sting pulling on the guitar, the dope roe (spelling) combined with the juice harp~~ makes this a complete song. Best singing and guitar I have ever heard..................

  • I played 3 years in Germany an I BET you thats where this is!

  • I grew on this great music and had the pleasure of meeting BJS three times. One of the best shows ever and one of the nicest people on this planet. Still love the lady and her music.

  • all i've done 2night is reminisce songs from my childhood. my mum used 2 play this in the car over and over! i love it!!!

  • @dbd1353 EXCELLENTT!!!

  • I shot the video for this song, all the patrons were told to go about their activities as the producer wanted a natural feel to the song,i think it came of well, jim kins the lightin director is seen dancing and so are the camera men and stage hands,it was a great night and a great shoot, great song.

  • EXCELLENTT!!!

  • great music

  • This is an infuriating video. Only a handful of people in the "audience" are even LOOKING at her, let alone actually listening to this major talent. I almost feel sorry for Billie Jo here....she may as well be singing to a pack of canines at a dog shelter.

And, as someone else pointed out....those "cowboy" hats must have all been purchased at The Dollar Store!

  • Classic! They don't write 'em like this any more.

  • Music just isn't the same any more. This is classic!

  • Love it, too. Thanks

  • I believe this was a concert Billie Jo Preformed at Mickey's Gilley's Bar/Club That was in Pasadena, TX It closed down in 1989.

The movie Urban Cowboy was also filmed there in 1980.

  • @CowboyBootsHats It was filmed at Gilleys. this was the main stage.

  • Just simple but perfectly well song, like it.

  • fantasic music

  • For all the Ladies!!

  • love it

  • awwmee! that gurl with the black hat and tie looks so lost!! lol like she is twelve or something!! lmfao!!

You gotta love that little person in white at 2:51 dancing like nobody's watching!

  • A song about outdoor-sex.

America is getting rid of it's narrow mind!

    Congratulations ... !!

  • You're right - whatever she was expecting, this wasn't it! She looks really confused. Hilarious. Brilliant song and voice though.

  • She eventually got with it

  • LMFAO - Great song but the film clip/party - whatever that was stole my attention. Couldn't have created anything funnier if they tried. The girl in the polka dot dress filmed at the start - Wow, clearly her fav song.

  • great song but what a party, looks like a right laugh...Sunshine Club hoedown

  • Real music.

  • No matter, where this performance was.

I thank god for this song.

The greatest one. My absolutelly favorite.

Nearly every time I'm singin together with Billie Jo this song.

    Much Love

    Ute

  • does anyone knows where this was made

  • I think it's about 30 years ago now I saw B.J. during a live TV-performance of her in Holland and I assume this clip is from that event. We all got from those silly cowboy-hats on and we had to clap all the time. There were also those bull-thing etc. It was an triangle stage with one camera at the front. We had also a major shortcut during here performance.

  • holland?...........europe or texas

  • Europe ! Sorry, I didn't realise, there's also Holland in US.

  • Europe,can you see....

  • does anyone know where this was made

  • holland, where?

  • Doc, wouldn't say disabled, just a bad dancer..Used to and still see lots of folks like that around..she's having a good time though..have to also agree Captain a bit on this, that the folks in this video look a bit off in some ways..Billie Jo sure can sing though..

  • hello kid dance weve paid you 100 bucks

  • love this from stacey to her lovely dad john

  • haha i love that young woman at the begining standing there not moving thinking WTF are they all doing lol.

    great song!!!

  • is that a nut house she is in

  • Great! I can listen to this song a thousand times! Thanks for posting!

  • I love it too

  • love this song x

  • we have just been to see her and she was and is still fab, her voice not mimed was as good as it could get so stop ripping her off! she will live forever

  • Amen :)

    Rip nana :)(yn) x

  • Why do you have to spoil it.......???? She holds a lot of memories for a lot of people....!!!! WONDERFULL SONG

  • The only thing crap about her live performance's in the UK were the local, hard to front, back up groups. The voice live or studio belongs in the top 20 of all time pre-rock-infiltrated country singers and may someday find that place.

  • yeh i like it too, reminds me of my hunny , my first and only love.

  • GREAT ! Thanks 4 posting !

  • LOVE this tune :D

  • oht he memories of this song from my childhood, along the cheyenne river in west fargo Notrth Dakota

  • Super Song. Ich liebe dieses Lied. Danke

  • ye ha great song

  • amazing, brilliant. I just love it to peaces listen to it some days.

  • Did you spot Raquel Welch and Rory Emerald in the rowdy crowd?

  • A truly great song from a genuine country artist. But I got a terrific kick out of the video even though the quality is bad. Especially from the young girl in the pink skirt and white hat dancing her guts off. Do you see who I mean? She shows up early in the video and then again towards the end. She is having such a great time that it lifts my spirits considerably. Thanks for posting this.

  • is this about putting a blanket on the ground

  • It is strange because Billie Jo is lip synching to her own recording..in a live setting..like a country version of 'American Bandstand'...still a good song though

  • like top of the pops, western style.

  • Mar Kjartansson I have memories with with this Song...Nice SONG

  • YEEEEHAAAAW....I love it!

  • lol...

  • and we'l go walkin once agen FAB!!!! JUS BECOZ WE ARE MARRIED.........nd lay the blanket on the ground...

  • this is the weirdest video i have ever seen. I could write a thesis on this music video. It is bizarre. However, a great song. The overall feel of the cinematography and acting reminds me of the movie Troll 2.

  • What do you think is weird about this video? I think it's great with Billie Jo singing her big hit and the audience actually paying attention to her. To me, it looks like the show is in a place like Billy Bob's but of course I don't know where it took place. Billie Jo is a real doll and the first time I saw her sing this 20 years ago she had the cutest dimples. A fantastic voice and great song. Thank you coockies for posting. - Paula

  • Super... (MEMORIES)

  • boy they got some ringers in this video.Check the gal out on :35 and again at 1:11..Boy does she look like she's having a great time or what? Geez..Man, the gal at 2:52 is really rockin' out..that's how to do it..This song reminds me of the Urban Cowboy a whole lot..I think what Ned999 says is true..Sure like a sale was going on with the big ass hats..Course that's how it was back in the day...Goofy people rockin' to a great two-step tune like this.

  • AW that's not fair, she's enjoying herself, that's what live concerts are all about!

  • Must have been a great sale on cowboy hats

  • My whole family singing it tonight

  • Pedalman, your right! This has got to be "lip synching" if I ever heard it!!! Great Song and a DYNAMITE Performer!!!

  • Dont know where the video was made but the band is identical note for note, sound for sound to the original recording, so she is miming here.

  • love this loads. reminds me of times when things in my life were very different...better! feel really nostalgic actually! x

  • love it great song

  • I have a very old 33 1/3 with this on it. What a treasure!

  • yea this is my karaoke song too. One of my favorite songs

  • I, too, love this version; love it, love it, love it!!!!!

    Thanks for posting.

  • love it love it love it!!!!!!

  • does anyone know where this video was made?

  • I love this song =D Always thought it was Dolly until a while ago. This is my karaoke song!!! =]

  • great song great person

  • I was lucky enough to meet BJS when I was 17 yrs old. She is one of the nicest people ever and funny to boot. This song brings back some great memories. :)

  • That is really sweet of you to say. This is my Aunt B.J. She lives closer to home now. Glad you could enjoy her music! BTW, she is hilarious!

  • That is Great Aunt actually. She is my Father's Aunt :)

  • How cool to have BJS as a great aunt. You can let her know that her music lives on and some of us still listen to her vinyl recordings even today and love them just as much as we did when they were new. Have a great weekend.

  • love this song fuking kushty song

  • That girl in the front row wearing the black hat, white shirt and the tie dure looks like she would rather be somewhere else, every one else looks like they're having a good time, but that one girl sure isn't

  • pherhaps she has noone to dance with! I would dance with her she looks quite nice

  • I love this song and this video - of course anything Billie Jo sings is fabulous. Watching this for the first time I thought the gal in front of Billie was trying to figure out "what do I do next?" LOL She did start clapping with the crowd later on - it's very catchy with Billie's beautiful smile and her personality shining through her music. It makes you want to dance just watching and listening. -Paula

  • Im only young myself but love the song along with having a few of her albums greay lady.

  • my name is billiejo too

  • great track, first heard this song on the movie 'Convoy' loved it ever since. good quality video! (United Kingdom)

  • What a beautiful lady,

and what a lovely smile she´s got. :)

    Great song too. :)

  • i stumbled across this and was absolutely taken back to 1975..........it was a good year.......thanks for posting

  • Love this song. Good memories and good music

  • Golly, I love this song. It's been a favorite

of mine for years, but lost track of it until

Youtube came along.Does anyone know what the

time frame would be for this video. It looks faily recent.

  • Well, since she's 71, now, born Jan 14, 1937, I'd say it's at least 20 years old, maybe?

  • ema19us. Thanks a bunch for the info. I didn't know she was 71 now. I figured maybe she was about my age of 62 or so. What a joy to hear her again.

  • Billy Jo Spears sings "Blanket on the Ground" much better than Rory Emerald and Dolly Parton. Thanks for posting awesome video and song. Happy 2008 New Year!

  • I think so! HNY08 too.
