@FabDoll26 I only eat fresh foods: fruits, vegetables, meats and nuts. I don't stay quite this lean all year long, but I stay within 5 pounds of this weight so it is easy for me to diet down for my contests.
@ChrisZFit maybe i should try that because i realllyyy want to be cut like you i eat very very clean all the time hardly ever cheat but i still have some carbs for breakfast and after my workouts sometimes like oatmeal or sweet potatoe but i keep my portions small
Chrissy I've been watching your videos off and on for a couple of years. They are by far the most informative. You are first and foremost an educator. You really know how to get a person's attention. You speak well, loudly and articulately enough...music's great, demonstrations, perfect. Thanks!
Crunches are useless, your abs come from heavy training and 90 percent diet, crunches are shit for your back. When I dieted I had an awesome 8 pack, but never done a situp or crunch at all.
I am so glad I found this video. Chrissy, thank you for making it. I love this one and your other one about decline crunches. You look great and you teach effectively. My daughter says I have "six-pack abs with a candy coating" -- I lover her to bits, but now you have shown me how to shed that candy coating. Make more videos. Thanks.
I don't think she is too thin. She has dieted to obtain a leaner physique. Chrissy I am a fellow fitness instructor, and I have to say, you have a great physique and incredible form on all your instructional videos. Good work!
Amazing. I wish women would not be afraid to perfect their bodies to this calaber! I know I am not. Strength is sexy- it is empowering! I bet you could defend yourself in a fight. Your side muscles baffle me. I have never seen such definition. Wow- tremendous!
btw what do you mean draw them in? i cant do much other than contract them..i just do the movement this "drawing them in" thing is new and weird but i spose if your not supposed to do it then it doesnt matter that i know how since im not doin it
All your hard work has obviously paid off, Chrissy--your body is stunningly beautiful. If we average joes can't get motivated watching you demonstrate your own fitness tips--we're pretty much beyind help ... lol!
I use to let them bulge out and then I had a natural six pack but it looked weird because my stomach always stuck out. It looked like like if was full of air or gas. It didn't start to flatten out until I contract my stomach in. I great tip from a guy that had a 10 pack lol told me, When you're at your deck or driving, contract your stomach in for as long as possible and hold it. Time it and try to beat your record. You can do it that as much as you want, and notice huge difference.
@Jahkillian yes that is true....unless you train your deeper abdominal muscles (tranverse muscles), you will tend to have a belly that sticks out. However, while doing crunches, you cannot effectively contract the muscle while drawing it in!
@Jahkillian pfft who cares if the stomach sticks out, anyone talks shit then just take your shirt off and show them your abs of steel, that should shut up any critics =)
@Jahkillian what if you can do it all the time?ive been doing it since i was a kid and now its just a natural reaction to contract them in and flat. what i think is harder to develop is the kind that is flat but has each little ab muscle popped out but not popped out like somethin gross lol they look like little bumps but the abs as a whole are flat.
short and concise, I like ! better than those instructional videos that spend so much time on what company they represent and every other affiliation and "small talk" and halfway through the video they finally show you the exercise
Actually, you don't draw in the stomach to prevent the rectus abdominus from bulging, but rather to activate the transverse abdominus during a crunch. This is a controversial technique. It's advocated by Paul Chek for instance, but Stuart McGill and others believe it's not important.
I don't think most trainers tell clients to 'draw' their stomach in during crunches for the purpose of their abs 'not bulging'. The old 'belly button to spine' is to engage the transverse abdominus to provide more stability and muscle activation in the core.
@rephyn I agree. It would be nice if author would provide more detail on what facts she bases on her advice, instead of giving us false analogies. I can see that she has great abs and what she's doing works well for her, but when giving advice to others a solid, educated basis is needed. Otherwise unwanted results, or even injury may occur.
@rephyn exactly right! This video is teaching people to disengage their TrA which is a completely incorrect pattern for training the muscles of the core. The rectus abdominis muscle is a gross stabilizer of the trunk and should not be fully engaged until the load is too much for the TrA and inner unit muscles to stabilize the spine. The transverse abdominis or the "belly button drawing in muscle" SHOULD act first to protect the spine....if your core is functioning correctly.
Y'know, I always try to make sure that I know how to do an exercise... how to not hurt myself and how to get the most out of it, but I have to admit I never gave a second thought to crunches. I had that "pull your stomach towards your back" in the back of my head... probably placed there by some H.S. coach 15 years ago. But, what you say makes total sense. *sigh* Thanks!!
crissie is great, her videos are very clear and to the point....she has an awesome body too, though she does look a little bit masculine for my taste. anyway good on her!
i disagree. I think she is a stunning combination of muscularity and feminity. She is a living work of art. Its functional too. She is a track athlete as well as a bodybuilder.
