one class of people should not have to pay more than another class of people just for reason of having more. yes jet owners do need a tax break operating these units provides for other jobs that justify the loss of government revenue from those that already pay more than their tax burder dollar per dollar against the lower classes. 14th amendment equal protection under the law, this includes paying an equal dollar amount no matter what the income.
they should install refueling stations across the north atlantic so small aircarft can cross the atlantic and that would solve the fuel/size issue without having to go via iceland and greeland. However i dont like the enviromental consequences of doing that for marine life. at the moment it is necessary to make aircrft large to carry the large amounts of fuel for long distance. if we can create electric aircraft that recharge themselves and glide we could do it in smaller airplanes
i have one question why were you applying the speed breaks while still in flight... wouldn't that create un needed stress on the panel? i was under the impression that is to be applied once contact to the ground is made and throttle is at idle.. i'd like to know if it is because of the high stall speed of the aircraft ? i'm curious because i have chosen to build this over the cozy... don't need the extra two seats
@phantom0482 The Long Ez and most of its canard cousins have a very flat glide/approach. If you want to steepen the decent and see over the nose, you deploy the speed brake.
Just curious if you would be able to put a BRS chute on one of these planes given it's a pusher prop. Just concerned about safety backup - other than wearing a chute on your back.
I just spent the night in Perry, OK last night! Been thinking about buying a Long-EZ too. Kinda crazy. It would have been a nicer trip in the EZ from CO to AL than the 2 day trip in the car!
This aircraft, with an auxiliary gas tank in the back seat, has a heck of a long range.... can fly from Maui to Oshkosh, non-stop, unrefueled.... Bert is the man, for sure...
im working on one of these in work as a restoration project.. hopefully so the owner can fly around the world in it.. its tricky due too the fact hes paraplegic si there will haft to be dual controll on eatherside from the control collumn
I think it was Mihkahil (or something like that) at Renaissnce composite... long time ago.... who said landing canards are much tougher than regular airplanes.
How tough is it ??? I had a chance to get a ride with David Orr and remember pitch was pretty steep. If you flown tail dragger, how do you compare the difficulty ?
It is a great plane to fly, just a couple of gotchas, such as don't over rotate on take off, don't get too slow on approach. Other then that it is a blast to fly.
This is one of (if not the first) canard aircraft in the homebuilt arena. I think of it as grandpa for the others (or grandma depending on how ya look at it:) As such...the others have had a lot of time to refine their designs for performance and looks.
Dallas to NO? That would be a going out for lunch in a Long EZ. "Stillwater Sailor" (see above), is the one to ask! I chided him for being off the centerline, but he's really a pretty good stick!
What is the cruise speed and the range with one of these. I fly a trike right now but would look for a long distance flyer in the future, Say from North Texas to the New Orleans area.

What was the approach speed here?
I see the nose wheel bouncing on touch-down.
Or was that only because the elevators were deflected full up?
I don't wanna nag, I'm just curious about the behaviour of the Long-EZ since I am thinking of making that my next project plane...

Wow cool vid. Where you get these aircrafts.
Are the considered ULA? (ultra light aircraft?)
My PP license is enough to fly them?
Are they expensive?
Thanks
