honestly if he just had better equiptment or something this would be some of the best stuff ever,i mean it still is but that something missing is just his bass or the amp or something, because skill wise his playing is perfect
@TheSoundsofthesouth not to argue, but if Jaco wouldn't have existed victor wooten would be nothing at this point, Jaco was a revolution in the bass world, at those times nobody would thought of a bass player to be a soloist... he was the creator of something big, which then led other on that same way. Respect for both of them
@jaqetall Don't mean to disrespect Jaco, but I think this godlike status he gets is exagerated. He wasnt the frst person to front a band with the bass. Stanley Clarke released his album a few years before Jaco did his debut. There are also, of course, players like Mingus who had been taking bass to the forefront even before that. Victor Wooten, by his own admission, has said time and again that his greatest influence was Stanley Clarke and mostly funk bass players of the 70's.
@TheSoundsofthesouth yeah true, I don't mean jaco is god, obviously Stanley was also a great influence in solo bass playing and truly there are many good solo bass players from those years, I regret whatI said before hahah
In 1982, when I was in middle school, I accidentally came across this and couldn't figure out what kind of music it was or what the guy wearing the crazy clothes was playing. It looked like a guitar but it didn't have any frets and only had four strings, like a bass, but surely it wasn't a bass because basses don't sound like that. Whatever it was, I couldn't turn away but I never caught the name of who it was and didn't see it again until years later. After I got hip, it hit me, "Jaco!"
A FEAST OF GREAT MUSIC!!!... EXELLENT SOLO PERFORMANCE!!!... FEEL THE MUSIC, HEARTS!!!... THANKS... DEAR HEN RIQUE... YOUR LABOR, YOUR HEART HEALTH!!!... MUSIC ENLIGHTENED... HEART TO HEART... LOVE...

Jaco was a great bass player, but if we are brutally honest I think even he would be intimidated by Victor Wooten if he was still around.
