@markandlexigreys Don't worry. the people that are grinding up chicks and throwing them around will eventually go to hell and be treated the same way.
We give chickens life to begin with. Without us they do not come into the world, because in most countries there is no such thing as wild chickens. The reasons chickens even exist is to serve us with eggs or meat. Therefore if they can't serve us in the way we intended when we brought them into this world, then terminating is the only option. I do agree that grinding probably isn't the most humane option though.
"Meat" chickens are normally raised to about 6-7 weeks, and Cornish Hens to about 4 weeks. They're both the same type of chicken, one is simply processed at a younger age. "Layer" chickens are only worthwhile if they are female (unless you are breeding). A 6-week old meat chicken will weigh about 3.5-4 lbs dressed. I would hope to imagine not everybody is a sick fuck who would beat the shit out of a calf. So yes maybe cows were mistreated on a few dairy farms, but saying dairy farms in general is a bit of a joke. If you did that on any of the farms I know you'd probably end up in the hospital.
@geeknproud2110 Do you know what you're talking about? Are you saying that the majority of animal factories care for the welfare of the animals, and not for solely their own profit? So then you're saying that MsDonalds, KFC, Burger King, and Perdue are all humane and respectful animal processing companies. Hmmmm...
@dalooloo28 You say that not everyone is a sick fuck. ya well maybe not every animal factory worker would urinate on a chicken (some do tho) but the company managers don't mind stacking chickens one on top of the other - giving for each a space smaller than a sheet of paper in which to spend their 6 month-long lives. Do any of these animals get a chance to take a breath of fresh air? Do they ever eat a damn seed or corn kernel? Go see the movie Food Inc & read Eating Animals by Jon Foer.

Thats just my opinion and I am a vegetarian, for this reason actually. Because I wouldnt want to watch someone eat my "pet dog." I wouldnt want to watch my puppy get abused and killed for his meat and fur. They are all living creatures and unfortunately people are conditioned to not care about or treat chickens and cows as an item & not a living creature... This is because we are taught that this is what we eat & dont care about rather than THIS is a living creature and has feelings like we do.
The problem here is that HUMANS are conditioned to see animals as a commodity for food, fun or clothing but animals have life too and shouldnt be treated as such. Now, people have dogs and why should killing a dog for its meat and fur be any different than killing a cow or chicken for its meat? Its no different at all. Animals are intellegent and have feeling and they also develop loving bonds with their caretakers.
@happysomeday09 So do trees. Are you mad that trees were killed for books? They are living organisms as well. Because they can't speak, does that make them unworthy of protection?
And how is this anymore cruel than waiting til they're adults and slicing off their heads? I imagine being thrown in a high speed grinder is pretty much an instant death.
And the crushed up bodies aren't wasted - they're used as fertilizer to grow veggies or made into pet food. :O
And PETA hates you because you enjoy watching animals suffer.
In my opinion, animals should be given full and at least the opportunity to enjoy their life up until the day they are killed for their meat.
I am a vegetarian so as much as I wish everyone was a vegetarian it is never going to happen. The best option would be to enforce animal welfare rights which will allow animals to live at farms and be cared for up until the day of death when they are killed for their meat.
There's an online petition going on against this at ThePetitionSite--if you search for "Demand an end to the killing of male chicks" it should come up, or you can find it in the Animal Welfare section under "Farm Animals". It's free and it's going to be sent to the company in charge of a lot of the hatcheries. No matter what you choose to eat personally, this particular process for raising egg hens is unnecessary, and it should be stopped.
This is the meat industry!! What in the hell do you expect?! It's always been like this, and it took a video for people to even care, if these activists hadnt have gone in on one of their under-cover missions...then no one would give a shit. Is it sad dont get me wrong, but am I going to go Vegan? No, because this is how its always been, and how it always will be, no matter how many people go veg. I'm still human.
No, actually, this is not how it has 'always' been. Before factory farming animals were treated with a certain amount of dignity. Given a good standard of life, killed in a manner which caused the animal as least amount of suffering as possible. Indeed, look at many native peoples across the world and you will find that these peoples still, to this day, actually give thanks to their God, whatever one that might be, and thanks to the animal before killing it. Dignity and respect. We have lost it.
We're animals too, right? Should we ground ourselves up? The line should be drawn at single-celled organisms. Anything considered an animal (basically anything that moves, even if it's an ant) should not be put through this unless we depend on it for survival. I think maybe we should grind you up and see how you feel.
I didn't give a shit, until I watched the footage AP couldn't show in this report - that of the chicks actually being 'ground up alive'.
I've seen almost all of the other footage of factory farm maltreatment of animals, but it is mostly somewhat humane killing, and they are slaughterhouses after all.
But there is nothing humane about this plant's unfathomable grinder for live chicks.
People, please do not misunderstand me. I did not get upset over this video. I figured this was happening before I saw it. Even all of you knew chickens were being killed before this video. After all you aren't chowing down a live chicken are you? I only think this is cruel because of it being baby chicks and not of any other reason. I believe "No women, No Kids" well.... maybe just "No Kids" should also be applied to animals is all. Unless it's sheep. cause I just love Lamb chops.
Do to this video egg prices will now increas by $4 since they will now have to raise all the males. they will then be butchered anyway. they will have to suffer during a slow butchering process which then will be thrown out since there is not enough meat to sell. serious people what did you expect? they dont need males. they die in a istant. I ADVISE YOU TO STOP EATING MEAT COMPLETELY IF U CANT HANDLE THIS. MOOOOOOOOOOO . HELLO SLOTER HOUSES. HOW IS THIS DIFFERNT?????
Im all for delicious chicken and other meats and in no way im a supporter of PETA but the way the co. is treating these animals is insane, when it becomes a fully grown chicken then yea slaughter it for food purposes but don't condone cruelty like that especially to little chicks like that. Sick!
Only if you have never consumed chicken in any form or fashion can you be appalled. If you have then kindly STFU and try worrying about humans and their treatment...unless you eat them too.
1. Did I say humans should be exploited either? No. NO ONE should be exploited.
2. They were ground up...meaning they were KILLED. Their lives were STOLEN from them.
3. Yep, we all die. Does that mean murder should be legalized because we are all going to die anyways? Should I be able to go and kill my neighbor because he will die anyways sometime in his life?
You cannot compare animals to Humans...why do animal rights fanatics not see this?
I am sorry this video bothered you but sorry honey, people have been killing animals for millennia. I guess you probably have a problem with nature as well...or would it not have upset you as much if the people were ripping the flesh from the live birds and devouring it raw...as your ancestors did. The "natural" way :)
Just like roses are a type of flower, humans are a type of animal. We are one species among many. It would be more accurate for you to say humans > non-human animals, but that is still just your personal prejudice.
2. It does not harm humans to advocate an ethical vegan lifestyle, so why are you acting like caring for non-humans is harmful to humans?
3. I was talking about killing, so why refer me to number 2? I'm not talking about pain.
It just seems inefficient. I wonder if any of the agro-science geeks could figure out a use for the make chicks. I mean, they probably taste just as good as hens when they grow up.
No this species isn't considered best for eating. Broiler chickens and layers are totally different species. Layers haven't been bred to grow at a freakishly rapid rate either, so it's not very profittable to raise layers for flesh.
Regardless of their "taste" they do not want to die for the unnecessary pleasure of others.
Ummm the fact that animals try and escape harmful situations make it kind of obvious they do not want to be harmed. The fact that animals cry out when in pain makes it kind of obvious they do not enjoy the pain. Come on, this is common sense - even young children can understand that. You don't need to speak Human English for me to care about you.
How 'bout instead of documenting the suffering of chickens...document human abortions. Methods like: saline solution burning the skin of unborn babies, suctioning devices ripping the limbs off of babies, or partial birth abortion...scissors inserted in the base of the skull and suctioning device put in to extract the child's brain. I wonder if these "chick" activists fight for human babies lives?
Kind of on the fence....I don't feel it's right, but I don't have a stable enough view to take a verbal stand. I already came across the situation where I was pregnant and not feeling ready for a child and had people recommend abortion, but deep in my heart I was honestly offended by the suggestion.
VeganButterfly, we are discussing the topic of the "taking of life". The "chicks" seen in the video are created for the purpose of human consumption. Rape, child abuse, etc. SHOULD be dealt with and, for the most part, are issues that our society fights. However, when was the last time you saw a PSA regarding the cold, calculated, pre-meditated murder of a baby by the cruelty of "medically" induced abortions? Our hearts are small when we focus on chickens while humans are being murdered.
So if we create some humans for the PURPOSE of abusing them, then it would make it okay?
When did I say we shouldn't help humans? I am a human rights activist. But why would I be talking about human rights on a video about chickens? It makes more sense to be talking about issues on videos that are about that issue, no?
And why do you think hearts are small when they care for all sentient beings instead of just picking a single group (like one race or species)? Surely because I have enough room in my heart for ALL sentient beings that would mean it's bigger, not smaller?
It's not less compassionate to extend your circle of compassion - it's MORE.
First of all, I'm grateful that you did not heed those who tried to pursade you to murder your baby. Secondly, I never said We created the chickens. God created the chicken and gave humans dominion over them. Thirdly, the point that you missed is that it is insane that there is a video attacking the production of a legitimate food source for humans. The only way that I can see that it would make sense to comment on such a topic would be for the sole purpose of stating that it's ludicrous.
Also, hearts are small when they group a human being in with chickens based on the fact that they both have a nervous system. Humans have a soul...chickens make good "soul food." Humans are created in the likeness of God...chickens were created by God for human consumption. I agree that you are compassionate...but, your compassion is aimed at CHICKENS!!! Are you serious? What about roaches? Aren't they sentient creatures? Ever crushed one lately? Exterminated one with a poisonous substance?
This "freaky Christian" values God's creatures. Some of His creatures I value as being created in His image and having eternal souls (humans), some I value as pets to be enjoyed by humans, some I value as wonderful food sources for humans, and some I value as a means of employment for exterminators. I'm sure that there are some folks in Africa that would appreciate it if you'd kill a few malaria spreading mosquitos. :) And yes, I'd like those mosquitos to be killed "horroifficly" please. :)
flar - I am not weak at all and I am a vegetarian. I am an average weight too, 130 lbs so I wouldnt say I am weak because I eat pasta, bread and vegetables only. Meat makes me sick and I cannot eat it. Even as a kid my mom wanted to force me to eat meat and I was always getting sick and throwing up from it. As a vegetarian I have never gotten sick and I feel healthier than ever since then. I actually feel stronger.
lol I've never had a problem with vegetarianism or the idea of veganism (was merely posting a random bible verse) thats great if you've found hapiness out of it, I'm aware of the numerous health benefits and that some people simply cant stomach meat. What I DONT like is activists putting down meat-eaters as a whole and putting them into categories that are so biased its insane. I was once told that if you eat meat you automatically hate animals....thats what my comment meant :)
Just because they are bred to be enslaved that doesn't make their slavery any more justifiable. Would you have supported the slavery of blacks when the slaves were BORN into the slave trade?
Who can put a purpose on someone else's head? I think everyone should choose their own and I don't think chicken's choose to be exploited, enslaved and killed for the profit and taste bud pleasure of others.
Wow, you just said that African Americans have the same value as chickens. Wow. Well, I was going to go for some reasonable, and well thought-out logical debates, but that's clearly impossible with you. You keep rocking the hyperbole, I'm gonna go and talk with some adults. Stay gold.
Oh wow... You're just a bundle of fallacious arguments. Elsewhere you claimed that chickens are sentient beings. We can all agree that humans are sentient beings. African Americans are human. So, yeah, in your pile of poorly-thought out ramblings, you did actually equate the two.
Human DNA isn't what makes you sentient. A brain, central nervous system, and pain receptors, is what makes you sentient.
Saying someone doesn't matter because they're "not human" isn't any different than saying someone doesn't matter because they're "not white" or "not male".
Wow, you're just wrong. Human life is more valuable to me than animal life. Most of humanity agrees with me. I'm going to have to take the advice of Jefferson on this one... You are a big Mister Wrongy-pants. Wrongedy wrong wrong wrong. People are worth more than chickens.
Ridicule is the only weapon that can be used against unintelligible propositions. Ideas must be distinct before reason can act upon them. - Thomas Jefferson
Yeah lots of people value certain groups over other groups. But this prejudice should not be forced on others. You are forcing it on the non-humans you exploit. I'm sure they don't agree with your human supremacist views. I'm sure they value their own lives just as you value yours.
Umm, well, I'm a human. Also, all the other predators out there, they feel the same way about me. If I was chilling in a bear's den, naked and alone, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be terribly concerned with my comfort.
A bear may not be capable of the higher moral reasoning we are capable of but that doesn't make him/her any less a sentient being. Humans DO have that moral reasoning so we should use it.
Hmm, I think that's where our core difference lies. I believe that a core element of sentience IS the ability to reason. There's a difference between sentience, and merely having a central nervous system.
I do not consider an animal's instant death in a grinder to be an immoral act. When I kill a fly (a sentient being, by your criteria) I do it fast. I would consider someone who pulls the wings and legs off to be cruel. Someone torturing a chicken with a hacksaw, I would consider sick.
So what if people are worth more than chickens? I don't refute that point one bit although I'm a pretty hardcore vegan. What I will say is that when you consider the global warming (and human extinction), the health affects on humans (cancer, heart disease) and these sadistic practices, eating animal products just doesn't make sense.
I don't need to look up "someone". The dictionary reflects current values of society, so it would also reflect the speciesism that is rampant in our society.
Back in the day black people weren't considered "someone" either, but that didn't mean they weren't. Regardless of the prejudice of others - sentient beings are sentient beings all the same.
All sentient beings are someones. You can treat someone like an object, but that doesn't make them one.
Laws for chickhens, geeze, like THATS whats needed, more freaking laws. How bout minding your own business and go take care of some birds you buy lady. The HSUS pulls more heads on chickhens then anyone else, go bitch at them.
thank you for making an "assumption". I don't care about feelings of the chickens. I was strictly trying to point out the whole "no women, no kids" philosophy applied to animals. geez. if you don't know for sure what someone is pointing out then don't criticize.
You don't have to try to think about animal's feelings to know that killing a baby is at least a bit unkind wether it's human or animal. It's about morals not about feelings.
Waste of a valuable resource. The poultry industry should increase the market demand for capons.

This is because we are taught that this is what we eat & dont care about rather than THIS is a living creature and has feelings like we do.
happysomeday09 1 year ago
The problem here is that HUMANS are conditioned to see animals as a commodity for food, fun or clothing but animals have life too and shouldnt be treated as such. Now, people have dogs and why should killing a dog for its meat and fur be any different than killing a cow or chicken for its meat? Its no different at all. Animals are intellegent and have feeling and they also develop loving bonds with their caretakers.
happysomeday09 1 year ago
@happysomeday09 So do trees. Are you mad that trees were killed for books? They are living organisms as well. Because they can't speak, does that make them unworthy of protection?

And PETA hates you because you enjoy watching animals suffer.
In my opinion, animals should be given full and at least the opportunity to enjoy their life up until the day they are killed for their meat.
I am a vegetarian so as much as I wish everyone was a vegetarian it is never going to happen. The best option would be to enforce animal welfare rights which will allow animals to live at farms and be cared for up until the day of death when they are killed for their meat.
happysomeday09 1 year ago
For anyone who's interested-
There's an online petition going on against this at ThePetitionSite--if you search for "Demand an end to the killing of male chicks" it should come up, or you can find it in the Animal Welfare section under "Farm Animals". It's free and it's going to be sent to the company in charge of a lot of the hatcheries. No matter what you choose to eat personally, this particular process for raising egg hens is unnecessary, and it should be stopped.

Is it sad dont get me wrong, but am I going to go Vegan? No, because this is how its always been, and how it always will be, no matter how many people go veg. I'm still human.
flargmuffin92 2 years ago
No, actually, this is not how it has 'always' been. Before factory farming animals were treated with a certain amount of dignity. Given a good standard of life, killed in a manner which caused the animal as least amount of suffering as possible. Indeed, look at many native peoples across the world and you will find that these peoples still, to this day, actually give thanks to their God, whatever one that might be, and thanks to the animal before killing it. Dignity and respect. We have lost it.

and don't equate animals with human.
it only cheapens human life.
simhopp 2 years ago

2. The chickens in this video were not suffering, they were ground up instantly.
3. Everything dies. Just ask the millions of emo kids on Youtube.
SnivenMcLovin 2 years ago
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
1. Humans > Animals
2. See number 1
3. see number 2
SnivenMcLovin 2 years ago
1. That's like saying roses > flowers.
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
"Sentient" I do not think that word means what you think it means.
Also, humans are predatory omnivores. I don't have a problem with that.
BigFrankieC 2 years ago
It just seems inefficient. I wonder if any of the agro-science geeks could figure out a use for the make chicks. I mean, they probably taste just as good as hens when they grow up.
BigFrankieC 2 years ago
No this species isn't considered best for eating. Broiler chickens and layers are totally different species. Layers haven't been bred to grow at a freakishly rapid rate either, so it's not very profittable to raise layers for flesh.
Regardless of their "taste" they do not want to die for the unnecessary pleasure of others.
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
How do you know what the chickens want? Do they speak to you directly?
SnivenMcLovin 2 years ago
Ummm the fact that animals try and escape harmful situations make it kind of obvious they do not want to be harmed. The fact that animals cry out when in pain makes it kind of obvious they do not enjoy the pain. Come on, this is common sense - even young children can understand that. You don't need to speak Human English for me to care about you.
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
How do you feel about abusing babies who cannot speak? Crying and squirming isn't English.

dixietony 2 years ago
How 'bout instead of documenting the suffering of chickens...document human abortions. Methods like: saline solution burning the skin of unborn babies, suctioning devices ripping the limbs off of babies, or partial birth abortion...scissors inserted in the base of the skull and suctioning device put in to extract the child's brain. I wonder if these "chick" activists fight for human babies lives?
vandaman74 2 years ago
Why not care about ALL sentient beings? Why pick and choose?
Maybe we shouldn't worry about abortion and worry about rape instead? Or maybe we shouldn't care about rape and only child abuse?
Why only pick one thing to care about? Our hearts aren't that small. We can care about everyone.
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
@ VeganButterfly
Just curious...What are your views on abortion?
SnivenMcLovin 2 years ago
It's cold, calculated, pre-meditated murder of human beings with the least ability to defend themselves.
vandaman74 2 years ago
Kind of on the fence....I don't feel it's right, but I don't have a stable enough view to take a verbal stand. I already came across the situation where I was pregnant and not feeling ready for a child and had people recommend abortion, but deep in my heart I was honestly offended by the suggestion.
VeganButterfly 2 years ago 4
VeganButterfly, we are discussing the topic of the "taking of life". The "chicks" seen in the video are created for the purpose of human consumption. Rape, child abuse, etc. SHOULD be dealt with and, for the most part, are issues that our society fights. However, when was the last time you saw a PSA regarding the cold, calculated, pre-meditated murder of a baby by the cruelty of "medically" induced abortions? Our hearts are small when we focus on chickens while humans are being murdered.
vandaman74 2 years ago
So if we create some humans for the PURPOSE of abusing them, then it would make it okay?
When did I say we shouldn't help humans? I am a human rights activist. But why would I be talking about human rights on a video about chickens? It makes more sense to be talking about issues on videos that are about that issue, no?
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
And why do you think hearts are small when they care for all sentient beings instead of just picking a single group (like one race or species)? Surely because I have enough room in my heart for ALL sentient beings that would mean it's bigger, not smaller?
It's not less compassionate to extend your circle of compassion - it's MORE.
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
First of all, I'm grateful that you did not heed those who tried to pursade you to murder your baby. Secondly, I never said We created the chickens. God created the chicken and gave humans dominion over them. Thirdly, the point that you missed is that it is insane that there is a video attacking the production of a legitimate food source for humans. The only way that I can see that it would make sense to comment on such a topic would be for the sole purpose of stating that it's ludicrous.
vandaman74 2 years ago
Also, hearts are small when they group a human being in with chickens based on the fact that they both have a nervous system. Humans have a soul...chickens make good "soul food." Humans are created in the likeness of God...chickens were created by God for human consumption. I agree that you are compassionate...but, your compassion is aimed at CHICKENS!!! Are you serious? What about roaches? Aren't they sentient creatures? Ever crushed one lately? Exterminated one with a poisonous substance?
vandaman74 2 years ago
ok you are just a freaky christain who is ok with one of god's creatures be grounded and killed horroifficly... you should value all life
ps. i dont kill bugs either
mkflovesyou 2 years ago
This "freaky Christian" values God's creatures. Some of His creatures I value as being created in His image and having eternal souls (humans), some I value as pets to be enjoyed by humans, some I value as wonderful food sources for humans, and some I value as a means of employment for exterminators. I'm sure that there are some folks in Africa that would appreciate it if you'd kill a few malaria spreading mosquitos. :) And yes, I'd like those mosquitos to be killed "horroifficly" please. :)
vandaman74 2 years ago
Well done defending your post. We're human after all, kingdom animalia? BS I say the kingdom of God good lord.

flar - I am not weak at all and I am a vegetarian.

I wish they would show them actually getting ground up.
But seriously, they are animals which are born to be killed and eaten. This is the quickest, cheapest way to do it.
It might be that someone could grind the stuff into a hamburger type paste, mix garlic and dip in batter and deep fat fry them
Or they could add the grindings to dog food and make a small profit.
There is a lot you can do w/ this.,
chucktautkus 2 years ago
Just because they are bred to be enslaved that doesn't make their slavery any more justifiable. Would you have supported the slavery of blacks when the slaves were BORN into the slave trade?
Who can put a purpose on someone else's head? I think everyone should choose their own and I don't think chicken's choose to be exploited, enslaved and killed for the profit and taste bud pleasure of others.
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
Wow, you just said that African Americans have the same value as chickens. Wow. Well, I was going to go for some reasonable, and well thought-out logical debates, but that's clearly impossible with you. You keep rocking the hyperbole, I'm gonna go and talk with some adults. Stay gold.
BigFrankieC 2 years ago
Yeah one sentient being is as valuable as another. There's nothing illogical about being against prejudice.
A sentient being is a sentient being regardless of their species, race, gender, etc.
There's nothing logical about disregarding someone's feelings and rights based on their appearance or anatomy.
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
But read my post again. I was referring to the ACTION of breeding someone into slavery, not comparing the slaves themselves.
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
Oh wow... You're just a bundle of fallacious arguments. Elsewhere you claimed that chickens are sentient beings. We can all agree that humans are sentient beings. African Americans are human. So, yeah, in your pile of poorly-thought out ramblings, you did actually equate the two.
BigFrankieC 2 years ago
Human DNA isn't what makes you sentient. A brain, central nervous system, and pain receptors, is what makes you sentient.
Saying someone doesn't matter because they're "not human" isn't any different than saying someone doesn't matter because they're "not white" or "not male".
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
Wow, you're just wrong. Human life is more valuable to me than animal life. Most of humanity agrees with me. I'm going to have to take the advice of Jefferson on this one... You are a big Mister Wrongy-pants. Wrongedy wrong wrong wrong. People are worth more than chickens.
Ridicule is the only weapon that can be used against unintelligible propositions. Ideas must be distinct before reason can act upon them. - Thomas Jefferson
BigFrankieC 2 years ago
Yeah lots of people value certain groups over other groups. But this prejudice should not be forced on others. You are forcing it on the non-humans you exploit. I'm sure they don't agree with your human supremacist views. I'm sure they value their own lives just as you value yours.
Who are you to deterimine who is inferior?
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
Umm, well, I'm a human. Also, all the other predators out there, they feel the same way about me. If I was chilling in a bear's den, naked and alone, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be terribly concerned with my comfort.
BigFrankieC 2 years ago
What makes you think a bear's actions justifies yours?
Some lions aren't concerned with the lion cubs they kill. Does that mean we shouldn't be concerned about child abuse either?
Equal consideration doesn't mean disregarding that there are differences between others. It means caring about others DESPITE their differences.
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
A bear may not be capable of the higher moral reasoning we are capable of but that doesn't make him/her any less a sentient being. Humans DO have that moral reasoning so we should use it.
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
Hmm, I think that's where our core difference lies. I believe that a core element of sentience IS the ability to reason. There's a difference between sentience, and merely having a central nervous system.
I do not consider an animal's instant death in a grinder to be an immoral act. When I kill a fly (a sentient being, by your criteria) I do it fast. I would consider someone who pulls the wings and legs off to be cruel. Someone torturing a chicken with a hacksaw, I would consider sick.
BigFrankieC 2 years ago
So what if people are worth more than chickens? I don't refute that point one bit although I'm a pretty hardcore vegan. What I will say is that when you consider the global warming (and human extinction), the health affects on humans (cancer, heart disease) and these sadistic practices, eating animal products just doesn't make sense.

SnivenMcLovin 2 years ago
WTF? I'm an anti-racism activist.
Just because I care about all sentient beings regardless or species, race, or gender, you label me a racist? Do you even know what racism means??
VeganButterfly 2 years ago
I don't need to look up "someone". The dictionary reflects current values of society, so it would also reflect the speciesism that is rampant in our society.
Back in the day black people weren't considered "someone" either, but that didn't mean they weren't. Regardless of the prejudice of others - sentient beings are sentient beings all the same.
All sentient beings are someones. You can treat someone like an object, but that doesn't make them one.
