  • ...Does anyone else think this is heavy as fuck?

  • we've circulated this video, the last two days, to about a hundred facebook friends and discussion groups -- so a few thousand will have seen the link already, and thousands more will in the days to come. to join a discussion of 'MIC-Transportation' in the 20th and 21st Centuries visit the OjaiPost online and see the MIC-Mars story!

  • England was invaded by the Normans in 1066. Within 5 years they controlled all of England. King Henry 11 of England invaded Ireland in 1171. So if you want to lay blame for the following 800 years of Irish history, blame the Normans.

  • Bah you fucking British and Irish bastards. We Scanians of southern Sweden get no recognition world wide at all and the Swedes are like "herr they are Swedes".

But history lessons are for another time! Now stop bitching about religion or countries and fuckign listen you bastards :P

  • Why the FUCK is the IRA and shit mentioned here? This is a all time Irish classic to be enjoyed by everyone, not a certain group of people. Make me ashamed to be Northern Irish some people do. :(

  • I'm American and not of Irish descent, but my sister sang this song to me when I was a child. She went to Irish dances in Brooklyn in the 1960s. I came to love Irish music and people, and I hope to go to Ireland someday.

  • Im English (Live in Australia atm tho ), but i have an Irish line in one of my grandmothers, which im very proud of and intruiged by, more than my Engish or Itailan heritage (other grandmother). i would love to go to Ireland, it looks beautiful. Many Irish people are really friendly and have a great sense of humor (I love Irish comedians, eg.Dara O briain) , im a sucker for a chick with an Irish accent too. I cant defend England very well, its become a cultureless repugnant shit hole.

  • @Phoenix1664 Have you been to England?

You defend Ireland, having never been, yet dislike England.

Try visiting and going off the beaten track, you'll find any culture you like in England

  • @db19745 Wha...? Ive lived in England for 23 years! o.0 And i still do i live in England, Im just working in Australia for a year or 2. Ok some parts of England are really nice, but other parts are absolute dog toffee! The Job prospects are appauling, and im fed up of the shit greedy governent pigs! o.0

  • @Reusneri You're the exact sort of completely retarded racist this world doesnt need. And I bet you have no idea what you're talking about, just another ignorant Englishman.

  • Look.. We could argue and Slag each other off for eternity... But it won't get us anywhere... STOP THE HATRED AND UNITE!!!!

Anyway, does anyone know who can play this on the melodian, trying to learn.

  • Im a NZ maori:) love irish music, very talented people<3

  • I'm Mariachi Squirrel I'm English & British but the Irish were the only loyalists to support King James II and the English parliament were the traitors who placed a pretender on the throne and won with a lot of foreign help. God save Queen Elizabeth II and learn from history but live for today, I read more and learned the truth, I was shocked' but history is embarrassing. God bless the Irish and the British.

  • Irish are thru people

  • oh for fucks sake...an englishman, irishman and a scotsman and a welshman walked into a bar.......they all looked puzzled as there was no women......they argued for a while, still no women...bob said oi oi, pat sais oye oye, jock says aye aye, taff said geddafuckinbeersinyadaftcuntsandavalaff......

  • @rwandb1912 and if they got too drunk ,and pissed and out of hand, then paty, tomy jock, and taffy will end up being what i am, an Australian in van Diemans land.

  • @ timmyhowles, im hoping yer right...so many barriers have been overcome, not by violence or hatred (or guinness for that matter, coz it tastes loik shoite lol).but the vast majority of persons between roi and uk seem to be gettin on just grand...ffs theres so much damn good music and banter/craic ...if everyone keeps smiling and laughing ...the 'hard borders' will disintegrate naturally....

  • irish rovers are better....

  • I Iove the DubIiners and wish for many generations to do so after me. But I cannot direct them to this page with so much hatred displayed within. No doubt many people have a strong opinion to express and are rightfully entited to do so. Just please dont do it here. please Ieave these comments open for genuine Iovers of one of IreIands finest. Thanks.

  • the beard just does it...

  • @jackstrawfrmwchta so what was it doing anywhere near her shoulder! you sad little dimwit

  • @Jennylovessheba her shoulder?

  • @Jennylovessheba what are you talking about. I only stick it in white girls. It was a warning for the others about the black twat and HIV proven connection. 200 times higher rate of HIV. Fact. If you are white and over 18 maybe we should try each other out?

  • @jackstrawfrmwchta oh yeah hun i'm white and over 18, but i don't think we'd have much in common. What make me think we'd have nothing in common? well i have morals!

  • @Jennylovessheba lol, do not feed the troll, jackstraw is a complete tard.

  • English is just a name for the way we speak.nothin to do with the shit hole that is england. Irish people are Irish,We know what we know and no amount of tourture and bulling wil make us forget what you have done to us.

  • 0:54 Commander Riker likes Irish music

  • HOLD YOUR WHIST !!! and enjoy the music! :-)

(or take your arguments someplace else...) :-\

  • @BoudiccaBlanc your right mate ive been bamboozled into a arguement everytime i listen to luke kelly or the dubs. fair play to ya man

  • @ChristianPatriarchy , you obviously have no mental capacity to speak of, nor any possible glimmer or sanity. IRA = Irish REPUBLICAN Army. They fought the British for independence, if I remember correctly. You should look these things up, instead or ranting on an awesome song's youtube page. There's no reason you should have posted that. Noob.

  • @meertch shouldnt be shamed/they are grand men barry collins and all the gang

  • @meertch AND YOU ARE JUST ONE MORE IGNORANT AND DELUDED MICK WHO HAS NO TIME FOR ANY TRUTH THAT DOES NOT REINFORCE THE CONCEIT AND THE LIES YOU HAVE BEEN PROGRAMMED TO BELIEVE BY YOUR JESUIT MASTERS.

  • @ChristianPatriarchy JUST SOME CRAZY ARSEHOLE THIS ONE :-) PROBABLY A MULTI OF SOME OTHER TROLL

  • @meertch IM TALKIN TO THE OTHER BOY!!!!! ALL im gonna say is listen to track by sinead o'connor and the chieftains. or watch a film called "the wind that shakes the barley" and you will see the brittish as a pack of blood hungry wolves whose only thirst is domination of smaller countries. although now america has a plan like that but other things olso have prime objective????????????????

  • @liamstyper also braveheart showed them as the scum that they are

  • @meertch respect

  • @meertch You should possibly think of learning to spell as i assume you meant to call Timmy a knob!!! just respect the music for what it is, an old irish song that means something other than causing an argument for petty people, it is music that means something to a generation from many nations for centimental reasons and not just for someone to use it as a soapbox anthem for political nonsense, climb down and shut up !!! love this song Timmy.x

  • @361026 I was arguing a point to @ChristainPatriarchy. I meant no harm to the band or the song; Truthfully, I love them both. @ChristianPartriarchy was stating wrong facts about the IRA, and I corrected them. No harm done. Oh, and since you obviously don't play video games; noob is a phrase used by gamers to call someone a horrible player. In real situations, this works by calling people new at something; like how @ChristaianPatriarchy is probably not only new to youtube, but arguing as a whole.

  • Look below an see the true definition of the phrase:Fek'n Eejit's...on a musical note I love this wee tune.

  • New Zealand Irish. LOVE THE DUBLINERS!

  • Yeehaa! getting back to my Irish Roots Music. x :)

  • its not the same without luke and ronnie the irish beatles

  • I really want this DVD but I can't seem to find it anywhere, does anyone know where I could find it?

  • @evilnat check out ebay, id say there is plenty of them on there..thats where i got mine a year or so ago

  • Her eyes they shone like diamonds, I thought her queen of the dance, and her hair tied up over her shoulder with a black velvet band...

  • @zappbrannigan420,its not queen of the dance, its queen of the land! and,her hair hung over her shoulders, tied up with a black velvet band.now you know.

  • @misterwibbles The Irish don't have a queen, now you know.

  • @zappbrannigan420 ,i know i am Irish,i thought i was helping you with the lyrics.

  • @misterwibbles Lol I know the lyrics, it just galls me to say "Queen of the Land". Fuck the queen.

  • @zappbrannigan420 boo hoo, poor you.....you ignorant cunt

  • @JimBell1984 Dental plan. Get one you fucking limey pig. Fuck you and your royal family.

  • @zappbrannigan420 yeah, good one, you yank twat. You hate us so much stop speaking our language, daft cunt. let's go on stereotypes if you wanna....you fat, ignorant yankie cunt

  • @JimBell1984 Its not your language: your language was anglo-saxon. Modern English is a product of the addition of French and Scandinavian into a base German tongue. Moreover American English is the product of a different linguistic evolution than British English, so for me to "speaking your language" I'd have to be asking for four farthings worth of blood and kidney pie. Now why don't you go back to your outdated monarchy and failed empire and let a relevant nation take the lead?

  • @zappbrannigan420 what bullshit you talk. Every language in the world is influenced by it's neighbours, so yes, English is our language. It hasn't evolved anywhere else which is has more than influenced the slang that we use, you fucking moron, but let me guess, being "Irish" you are obviously an expert on all things English. You are just a bitter, petty minded little cunt. So, I'll ask again, why aren't you talking gaeilge? an bhuil gaeilge agat? feisidh do thoin fein! you ignorant cunt

  • @JimBell1984 Which is has... yep, a true master of English.

  • @JimBell1984 And no, being Irish wouldn't make me an expert in all things English, my degree in history and attendant specialization in Anglo-Saxon literature does. And probably because I'm not Irish, nor did I ever claim to be. Now go along and garble up more of the language you claim to be your own.

  • @zappbrannigan420 I also study Anglo-Saxon language and literature, and have a good grasp of middle English. So, just because of outside influences how does English not belong to the English? It is our language, and despite the subtle changes between the English spoken in other Anglophone countries it does not mean their English influenced English English. English has evolved, and as much as it has used loan words and been influenced by our neighbours' tongues I still ask how is it not English?

  • @JimBell1984 English stopped belonging to the English when they decided to make the rest world speak it. /thread.

  • @zappbrannigan420 what a load of horseshit! so gaeige doesn't belong to the Irish cos they enforced it on the Picts? French doesn't belong to the French because they too had an Empire? I could go on, you simpleton. The thing is, you hate us English and you try to rationalise it. If you hate us so much why do you speak the language? I bet you're quite happy with the economic benefits of living in an Anglophone country

  • @zappbrannigan420 fuckwit

  • My Papa always sings this and when I was a kid would ruffle my hair when he got to "Beware of the pretty Coleen". My name is Coleen, and while I may not be pretty, I always liked it that he would do that. Happy birthday Papa!

  • @MsLadyDarkside Your Papa was sure you were the prettiest Colleen in the land!

  • irish rovers are better

  • @lionlennart The version with Luke Kelly would take some beating imho. :)

  • like

Ravbo1 said good job but luke is da man!!!!

    yeooooooow!!! gwan luke boi

  • Hating anyone due to the accident of their birth is plainly retarded. Accept humans and move on.

Celtic music is incredible. Agree on that.

  • I'm Irish, And Have Been Singing This Song Since I Was Three. Still My Favorite Song . I Memorized The Words, Lmao.

  • Of course it's directed at you. What else would you call someone who makes a blanket judgement based on race? You don't see the irony in your statement?

  • Top guys. Reminds me of many a spannered weekend in Dublin with the boys!

  • 11 ppl hate the Irish. Must be English.

  • @MrEODTEK Racist.

  • @UKSlimmi I hope you mean THEY'RE racist...and that you're not directing that one word comment at me!

  • @MrEODTEK I'M English and do NOT hate the Irish. In fact I play the bodhran with a celtic band. SOME english might, but then so might people of other "ethnic" cultures. As a Geordie, I feel a connection with the Irish.

  • @faey06 mosty english have a vast majority of their genetics fro the pre anglo norman people i.e celts/ pre celtic first settlers......so dinnae worry yerself :P....talk it from a genticist..we see the joke that we are all one species

  • @faey06 I'm an american boy, but I love Irish music so very much. I have so much respect and I could listen to Irish music so much. I play guitar and any chance I get or when I think about it. I learn a song by the Dubliners.

  • This song is owned by Luke Kelly - his live version is the ultimate. Sean Cannon does so many good songs in a brilliant way, but its not an easy job to sing the songs that Luke Kelly sang - no one can replace Luke.

    Jens from Denmark

  • @Ravbo1 totally agree with you, any song Luke sang became 'his' :) RIP

  • Amazing and beautiful... I love Traditional Irish Songs.

  • I love the dubliners.

    And Oliver Cromwell too ,

    Luke Kelly and ronnie drew.

    Kieron,barney and john ,

I hold a torch to you all.

    Good night god bless,

    As my nan would say!

Make of this rhyme what you may !

  • 2 kinds of people in this world , the irish n the people who want to be irish

  • @XxKooneYXx

without doubt most people are connected with ireland some how, a very travelled nation over the years, an irish man can be found in the very many countries i`ve been to

  • @XxKooneYXx ...my sentiments exactly....GOD Save Ireland!

  • @XxKooneYXx I'm French and i'm the second kind of people =)

  • @XxKooneYXx You forgot about Mexicans, who think Lucha Libre and candy skulls equate to a culture.

  • @XxKooneYXx Keep dreaming Paddy, keep dreaming! The order is: 1) USA ; 2) German; 3) English. I'm afraid the Irishman is down there with the also-rans, nice people but not very high in the achievement stakes!

  • @inkats How does this relate to the song? jingoistic rubbish.

  • @inkats fuck the english tiochfaid ar la !

  • @inkats here theres no way the english are third :O there not soo great the countrys they tried to take over have fought there way & got them back so they havent really achieved anything cus all they have is england

  • @XxKooneYXx

    Cough.... Well...

  • @XxKooneYXx

    glad im Irish (A)

  • Watch out for the Devil's own invention!!

  • @mdoodles123 ....dontcha forget Ciáran -.-

  • old people rock.

  • I saw these guys having a few drinks in a pub opposite the Darlington theatre a few years ago. What a night and a lock in lol.

  • I love this song. For some reason it touches the Irish in me. I forget where I heard it first, but it doesn't matter.

  • I can still sing along but please listen to a live version from the Dubliners with Luke Kelly from 1976. This is how to sing this song!!!

  • I have so much respect RIP Mum & Dad x

  • Impossible to listen to this without swaying, Happy childhood memories!! Missing you more than ever mum and dad, love you both loads!! R.I.P :) x x
