This was the ending of the season 3 premiere, "Wait For It."

Slap 1 occured in the obviously titled "Slap Bet" and Slap 2 occured in the episode titled, "Stuff." Both those slaps occured in season 2.

@anismessi basically there was the ep where they find out robin's 'hideous secret' and when they were trying to figure out what it was they made slap bets, so the winner of the bet would get to slap the looser.

tl;dr, marshal ended up getting 5 free slaps on barney to be given at any point in time that he wanted, so he did one right then, and every so often they appear in random eps.

This one he warned barney about in advance via a website for extra fear mongering and lulz XD
