What a find !!! I always remembered this . Good Ol' John " Bulldog" Drummond who usually delivers all the Outfit stories sent out in the cold and getting harassed . I love it I must of watched it 20 times already. Thanks for Posting !!
I love it when Drummond says, "We gotta talk to some of these fans." And the drunk with his buddy on his shoulders points skyward and says, "Talk to dis guy!" Without missing a beat, Drummond obliges.
If you wrote this scene as fiction, it would be laughed at as utterly unbelievable.
Jim McMahon was a mediocre quarterback at best! I don't why Bears fans think he was irreplaceable, considering they managed to win a buttload of games without him.
The 1985 Bears were the greatest one year wonder of all time. After that year, offenses (Redskins, 49ers) pretty much solved the 46 defense, to the point no one feared them. The Bears offense even under McMahon was never anything special, and certainly wasn't the kind that could win a game.
I remember this like it was yesterday. As we walked out of gate 0 in old Soldier Field we got close enough to watch this first hand. It was the only thing that made me laugh that whole day. Thanks for posting. What a ride we had in Chicago with all those great players and coach Ditka. Too bad Jimmy Mac couldn't stay healthy. That team should've won 3 or 4 Superbowls. We'll never see anything like that again in our lifetime. Actually a big thanks to Jim Finks for finding them all.
Hey Einstein! I suggest not wearing 'REDSKIN' colors when doing an interview about the Bears losing a playoff spot to those peabrains! Your lucky for not getting your head rung off!!
I had this on tape after the game, but I taped over it by mistake. I've been waiting over 22 years to see it again! Thanks for posting! This is one of the funniest clips I've ever seen! Look at Drummond gettin tussled around by these drunk Bear Fans. " I felt like I was on the folksal of a tramped steamer." Then the drunk on the guys shoulders thwaps his hat around, and Drummond shoves back! If you listen closely you can hear him say ..."I'll shove you Mister". Too Funny!!!
I'm glad everyone enjoyed this Video I posted. I had to dig thru over a hundred old VHS tapes to find this nugget. I appreciate all the comments! Mark - Dekalb, IL
It is great to see this again, I remember watching it LIVE as it happened. Does anyone have the follow-up video? I distinctly remember someone pulling the stocking cap off his head and tossing it back into the crowd, so they must have gone back to him at least a second time.
we need a super bowl win badly. i'm tired of hearing about the 85 bears in 09. look at the reporter handle his business. and of course, "the bears are #1 next year." lol
What was Drummond thinking? Nice hat Buddy... Maroon and Gold? I can't tell but I certainly hope that wasn't a Redskins hat. Someone should have smacked him upside his upity azz! And Howard has his Ditka starter set going. Stache and the cracker fro, all he was missing was his blueblocker bifocals.
And these meatballs want the Olympics? You a dumb piece of shit! If people from Chicago are meatballs than people from wherever the fuck you're from are shitheads!
One of the all time classics in Chicago local news coverage.
Some context here; this was a devastating loss in the 1st round of the playoffs for the then defending Super Bowl champion Bears. They went 14-2 in '86 and expected an easy time with the 'skins.
For a die hard Bears fan I remember this scene well when it first aired and it brought some levity to that depressing defeat. Steve Dahl, a DJ in Chicago, played the hell out of this for years. Great to see it here, it never gets old.
lol, the last bears fan yelling, HEY IM A GENTLEMAN!!! lol classic bears god i love the fans, fuck the reporter, can handle the heat get out of the frying pan
Saw this years ago on a show, haven't seen it since. Thanks! "Tramp Steamer!"... lol
