the reason I asked for the name of the band was to locate them when I got to burma next time and record another video. I will definitely go to Meit-hti-lar just to make a recording.. their works deserved to be well-known, especially the woman drummer player.
If you tell somebody in Meiktila that you want to see Ta Bo Thin, you can see him and Zar Ni Htet (woman pat-waing player). Besause they are husband and wife. They play at many kind of events as professional players. I hope you will do good job. We hired them for a donation ceremony at a monastery. The following is a video of the ceremony.
I must have listen to this clip 1000 times and never get tire of it. I also uploaded a clip of Saing Waing. What is the name of this band? Sain something?
This band is a kind of special session. Ta Bo Thin (Pat-waing player) and other players.... Each player is a master in Maiktila. So this band has no name. Each musician has been working locally in this city. They are masters. But they are not famous in all over the country. And there are very few CD that they play, maybe no CD. So this video that I uploaded is the only video. They are not so famous in Myanmar, but they are true specialists. There are a lot of great masters in local cities.
Thank you for your comment. This orchestra performed at monastry in Meiktila city. I ordered this performance and edit this video personarity. So I'm sorry maybe this is different from the video you watched. But I'm very glad you think my video has the same quality as the video from an exhibition in Uebersee museum. I feel very honer. The name of this orchestra's leader is Ta Bo Thin. He has never been introduced in Europe. But he is very great musician. Please introduce him in German too.
I watched it again and yes... it is not the video i saw in Bremen, although it is very, very similar (even the background). Is it true, that you´re not allowed to go to Myanmar nowadays? My Prof. told me yesterday. She had been there some time ago I think and did some musicological studies.
I can go to Burma. Now it is easy for foreigners to enter Burma except special person who active politically aginst the government. Last month I went to delta area in Burma to support victims of Nargis cyclone.
Have you ever been to Burma? If you have never been there, I recommend to visit there. If you visit there, maybe the image of Burma will be changed. I think you can find something journalism of advanced country can't tell us.
I haven´t had the chance to go there yet and I must admit, didn´t focus to go there until I heard sth. bout the country and the music in yesterday´s lecture. It is sooo interesting to me. I´d really like to do some research there. If only the flights wouldn´t be that expensive. :(
man -- this is a freakin awesome video of Pat Waing. I am a huge fan of Pat waing as I am a burmese ex-pat. I was in burma last month but could not find any good quality Pat waing material.
I did picked up VCD average quality orchestral music however.
thanks very much for posting this - i'm genX American of Burmese descent, would love to go bk to Burma and hire this group (if anyone know their name, addr, pls email me... tks!), have a Nat-pwe..
Saing waing is a unique instrument in the world, congratulations to Myanmar folk musicians. Thanks to YouTube I could learn a little more about the music I've known just by books. "Peace" and freedom for Myanmar!
Thank you so much for Baduak. I'm a Burmese-American girl living in Seattle, Washington and I really enjoy Burmese traditional music. It is real treat to find your video. Thanks so much! ~Mary Win
Thank you for your comment. This singer is also percussion player. The musician like her is rare in this country. Burmese culture is not well known, but it is very wonderful.
Thank you for your comment. This video is not a kind of DVD or VCD for sale. It is a digital video which I take and edit personally. I show other works in my website. If you visit my website when you have spare time, I am glad.(Please search by the keyword "badauk video clip" on website YAHOO )
