Zack gets shot quite a few times, falls to the ground and then tells Cloud to be his living legacy. Cloud Defeats Sephiroth not once but twice in the game, then Defeats him again 2 years later when he is ressurected takes a bullet in the heart still lives. The whole time Zack has been dead. Kids what did we learn today? Zack died and Cloud still lives.

His actually birth mother is named Lucrecia Crescent and appears in Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. She conceived Hojo's child, Sephiroth, for experiment purposes. She used to be a scientist, but then sealed herself away after seeing what Sephiroth would do.
