  • This song is so great. I love the words, the music and the way she sings it. Only Patty Griffin can sing it like this. "Beautiful"!!

  • Love Patty Griffin, HATE these videos. Horrible quality at best.

  • Wow. I bow before her astounding talent!

  • I lost my doggie, Lily, a few years ago at the age of 18. I play this song whenever I want to remember her sweetness and carefree companionship. She died in our favorite park on a totally heavenly day...blue skies, puffy clouds, just the two of us waiting for her final dr's appointment, which was not necessary as she left from here to there amidst God's beauty and my tears. "The Lord gives, the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord!" Thank you, Patty, for this most perfect song.

  • @saraclark71 So sad for your loss. Your recall of the events is so touching to me.

  • Here it is again! I post this same song every now and then cuz.......it's AWESOME!~

  • It takes only one singer to make me feel like this one does. and ohh that voice!! Here is the tinest little lady singing out like a GREAT BIG DARK LADY (if you know what i mean)

I'm gonna go to FYE and order everything she ever done. RIGH NOW!!

  • My wedding song ~ describes the day, so perfectly...a classic, always

  • MAY THE LIGHT OF GODS MUSIC SHINE FOREVER. AMEN

  • this song along with the rest of the songs on "Children running through" got me thru the most difficult time of my life last year. she is a powerful songwriter and presence on stage no matter her physical stature. Patti you have a gospel size heart!!!!

  • Once again thanks to: gcbfolk for the upload, The Tube for the space and keeping the lights on, and to ck'52 for the share, it would be self-destructive IMO to find fault with this song or the effort of the singer and her ulta cool Gibson accoustic! Rave on Patty Griffin!

  • This is a voice made for a cathedral. This woman makes the sun shine.

  • Her voice is sooo soulful, I could just sit and listen to her all day.

  • maravilhosa

  • @ around 45 secs the voice gets out of sych with the vid

  • somewhere's around 45 secs, the audio & visual get out of synch

  • Amazing song Patty! I am learning to play it. My first song at my 2nd guitar lesson. Love you Patty

  • omgggg i want her voice. it brings me to tears. it's not even the words although the words are good, but as soon as she opens her mouth to sing, it just hits me. her VOICEEEE omg it's just... i cant even describe. yea so, i'm 19 years old, and i'm in love with patty griffin's voice :-)

  • Rocked my little nephew to sleep tonight with Patty singing in the background ....can't get any better than this.

  • beyond words....

  • Einer der schönsten Liebeslieder die es auf der Welt gibt... Es ist Gottes Segen mit einer solchen Stimme und solch einem Gehör auf die Erde gesendet zu werden..

  • Kelly Clarkson introduced me to Patty. Yes, both are awesome artists. So glad Kelly

thinks so highly of her to recommend her music. I wonder if Patty ever makes any costume changes during her concerts.

  • a great love song.

  • This song is incredibly beautiful, and I love Patti Griffin's sultry voice. This song transports me beyond all the obstacles faced in life to something immeasurably happy. I could listen to it over and over and over. Thank you gcbfolk for this video.

I cried & cried!!!!!! Tears of JOY.

  • i love this song

  • I love the mood onstage, everyone seems to be enjoying themselves :) what an honor to play with alongside Patty

  • No, Patty has been around a lot longer than Norah, Norah can't touch her.

  • What a treasure ...... happy to start my day listening to Patty.

  • thank you.

  • You might be right... don´t know why I´ve said that...

  • So I walk out the door for a heavenly day, and wear a homeless mans cross....it means a lot to me....and he is loved...As we all bear a cross..but mines for Jesus....and sure his is too, as hes broke...

  • I have never seen Patty live and am a new fan.....Gotta see her........Just beautiful...........

  • you must see her live if only one time in your life. she will shake the very core of you.

  • Dog spelled backwards is GOD...I believe that is Jesus's LOVE...Unconditional...just like a dog, and very loyal to his People....Our World...His children!! So Patty is one smart woman and writer.....

  • That's quite profound and not sacriligious. i'm sure Patty would appreciate that. She is indeed one samrat woman and writer.

  • What a beautiful song and so well done

  • Patty is way ahead of Norah Jones!

  • better too.:)

  • I thumbed because Patty is the best, but she would never want us say that. I like Norah too.

  • @nvl79 I think even Norah Jones would agree.

  • The style reminds me of Norah Jones´s !

  • wha????????????? omg. i think you may have that backwards, but okay.

  • lol, everyone thinks Patty is covering other folks, so many of them too; great compliment to Patty...

  • Patty doesn't really have a style but can sing country, folk, gospel, rock....she does a good Springsteen take for Racing in the Street too :)

  • what a soulful voice...hapy she is sharing with us all!!!! just beautiful!!!!

  • That's just right. She's not performing for us but sharing it with us. At least that's the feel I get when listening...

  • If you want more of this (like me), get a copy of the dvd "Patty Griffin, Live From the Artists Den." Recorded Feb '07, with "micro-interviews" with Patty between tracks. That'll set the hook for sure.

And ... if "Three Girls and Their Buddy" tour is stopping near you, go! Patty, Emmylou Harris, Shawn Colvin and Buddy Miller are excellent.

  • Great singer writer !! )))

  • I'm a long time fan of this massively talented woman. This album came out right around the time my man had a potential diagnosis of lung cancer, causing us to run off to elope in Jamaica. When we came home we decided that this was our "wedding song." The diagnosis was false and now we slow dance around the kitchen to this song every anniversary. It transports us instantly back to our time in Jamaica. Love you, Patty.

  • I heard this song on Smallville and loved it! Love her other songs as well! Wonderful voice.

  • There is a man I knew and loved as myself. He died in ww2 but he wanted to stay at home on his tractor and look at the clouds over head and sing this song.... think of a future......The BOSS

  • She is a real artist...

  • Love this woman. The CD is awesome 'Children Running Through'. She is such a tiny sparrow of a woman - like Edith Piaf - and out comes this mighty voice. Beautiful song that makes me think of the simplest pleasures in life,

  • Thanks so much for your comment!

I hope she will continue to write inspiring songs such as these.

I've heard that she would'nt mind having a "gospel-size" voice - probably because some of her songs tend to be larger than herself!

But there again, i think like her more as the sparrow of a woman that she is!

  • My pleasure. She's a great singer and Im sure if she were less sparrow like she would blow us all away with a mighty gospel voice indeed!

  • @gcbfolk I think it's ironic that you said this and then she released a gospel album immediatly after :D!

  • I so love her songs, her voice and what i know of the person. That's odd, I have sometimes thought the very same as you about Edith Piaf. That's maybe because they both sing with heart and soul.

  • Lovely, lovely, lovely. I've just discovered her,but this song makes me want to know more about her music.

  • heh, if you've found out more lyrically beautiful songs, like rain, up the mountain, please tell me bout it! anyways, this woman was introduced by kelly clarkson to me. :)

  • heavenly song :)

  • I would love to be her dog... ;)

  • lol, I would certainly roll over!

  • Superbe chanson que je viens de découvrir.
