i think coldplay just got inspiration from it that didnt try to copy it, i love coldplay the best band in my opinion ..and i love this song too , this guys sounds like liam gallagher
While they do sound sort of the same, I must say that I prefer Strawberry Swing SONG-wise. As in melody, lyrics. I like all the textures Coldplay throws in as well. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy this too. In a different way.

Regardless of whether or not Martin and Pals "stole" this song, let's just enjoy the fact that a song like this exists and the memories we have associated with it, much like Nickgreek said.
Does anybody know if there is someplace where I can buy an MP3 of this song? I can't find any. I don't want to have to order the physical CD, but this song is good enough for it. :)
Can't believe this song is on here, remember when everyone was wearing "the rock" t shirts, fucking love thos song, was lucky enough to see it live as well. Class :)
im not much of a coldplay fan but parachutes is a pretty good album! have u ever heard beautiful world....and spies by them? and im sure u heard spiders before.
Putting coldplay firmly aside a second...This is such a lush, pastel and melodious tune, my head feels all soft and lost in the dreamy music. Someone put it on a c.d for me a while back and its so beautiful, reminiscent of primal scream.
"And nothing keeps me grounded, and I'm itching to distraction. If there's a boat or plane out of here....
oh man.. what a tune.. I remember blaring this out of a stereo on a warm summer evening on a beach a Newquay, just sitting round a little fire, chilling out with my mates... think it was summer of '98.
'i turned the speakers on their side.. i pointed the sound right up at the sky..'
Wow, Hahaha this song makes me smilee! :D Chris hass a great taste in music, this song is really awesomee...Coldplay show on San Antonio wass awesome!!! Greetings from Mty Mex!!
That's what I think! And we should also say that if you like that song you should listen to The Rock by Delakota. That song had this amazing backwards guitar loop going all the way through. And although Strawberry Swing doesn't have that, the Delakota song was definitely inspirational.
to be reminiscent of something is not to plagiarize. you can clearly hear the inspiration for strawberry swing, but it's not plagiarism. if you took the guitar riff out the two songs wouldn't be all that similar.
@stabbyku you must be smoking glue or something. chris martin could only dream of writing a song as good as this.
this is one of the best songs in the world ever, even better that only a handful of people know about so it doesnt get overplayed and killed off like alot of decent tunes.
Damn, Here cause of Coldplay too...... God I actually respected them a lot. Now I think of them no more then a really good cover and rendition band than a great orginal band.
Are you saying that coldplay copied this song? well they got inspiration from it i got to admit but they made it even greater. Great songs both of them

Careful, or you'll have another law suit on your hands.
Wow, thank the lord for Chris Martin. I never would have known other music existed had it not been for Chris. I thought Coldplay invented music!?! but apparently I was wrong. Music actually already existed, but Coldplay just made it much more awesomer and sweet.
God, Chris really is great isn't he.. and so handsome and not irritating at all!!
Perhaps there are other bands out there that I also haven't heard too? Oh well, I'm sure Chris will "take inspiration" from their songs soon enough.
I've been linked to this song from the Coldplay-fansite, as their singer says it's a great song with an even better guitarpart. I have to agree. Delakota makes me think of Oasis a bit as well.
this really is one of my favourite tunes ever. i heard it on the radio once about seven years ago and could never remember who it was by....then six months ago i realised icould find it using google(IDIOT). i literally had tears in my eyes when i heard it..lolololool.seriously though sentimental!!!!!!!!
There was another version that came with a Melody Maker CD, it was great! Anyone know where it can be found?

@whynotzoidberg seriously, how so?

@slacker50 The sound clip at the beginning is from Close Encounters, and "The Rock" refers to the mountain that the aliens land on in the movie.
