i think everybody should be quiet the fact is this was one of the most devastating natural disasters in us history in terms of the value of the damage, and the efffect it has had on our economy everybody was affected by this whether you want to admit it or not. iowa produces alot of things and all that was affected, i dont think you can really compare this to a hurrican because this type of flood is quite different from a hurricane

I live on Long Island. What was the death toll? I am trying to understand and be objective. Do you know what a category 2 or up hurricane is like? Once you get up to a 3 4 or 5 nothing is really left. It is like a tornado except it lasts longer and leaves more water. I really am trying to understand this all and if it can be compared.

Thank you for making this video. I can't really go downtown and see it because a lot of the streets are closed. Today I went and saw the area around City Park and Mayflower, but I couldn't get too close. It looked terrible. It feels so weird to think about how you were there, where the water is, and how it's being destroyed. It feels similar to the 2006 tornado.

This 100-500 yr flood plain is my home,.. Iowa provides roughly 13% of the WORLDS food you ignorant piles of crap. Nobody here is whining or asking for hand outs from FEMA or Bush, we are just trying to put or lives back together. Natural disasters happen all over. The ground was saturated because of huge rains and lots of snow melt, water is just sitting because the soil wont absorb it, the rest flows into rivers, and the towns near them.

And Iowas 99 counties are allocated approx. $250,000 each annually to spend on nothing but soil and water conservation practices, with a $45,000 max per operator to spend on.

This is a flood plain,.. we understand this,.. rich firtile soils in these plains offer maximum yields of crops per acre, with little input needed, the abundance of crops make feeding pork, poultry, and beef more efficient, which is why Iowa is a WORLD leader in production agriculture. Producing more food per acre of land than any other place. The floods are just part of nature, we call it a disaster, because of the homes, and crop/ livestock loss. Man, i tell you what...That was and still is one nasty flood. I work for the city and during all of the flooding i was working 15 hour days delivering sand...It was a lot of work. We saved a bunch of areas, but still, we lost many houses and businesses. This will hopefully be the worst flood that we ever see again.
