This was a travesty for me.. I grew up on Captain 20, and then all of a sudden he tried to get "educational" with dazed-out kids who were just wasting my valuable free time.. Maybe one good thing came of this- I started riding my bike alot more..
Captain 20...ahhh the memories. I was 6 years old when I moved to Alexandria, VA in 1980, and he was a big part of 3 glorious years that I spent there. Does anyone have any footage or any of the PSAs for kids that he used to do with puppets...like Howard and Milton M. Milton?
You can get the story behind Captain 20's famous "flying" spot and watch it in a streaming video by going to his Screening Room.
Unfortunately, YouTube won't allow me to list the actual web address in this comment, but all you need to do is put a dot and a com on Captain20. Then, scroll to the bottom of the page and look for the photo of Captain 20 flying.
Captain 20 is still entertaining folks with a new act: Dick Dyszel presents his Las Vegas Style Stage Hypnosis Show.
Catch his act at "The Comedy Spot, Second Stage" on Saturday, May 10 2008 at 7:30 pm. For details, go to his web site by adding a dot and a com to DickIsHyp and see an actual demonstration through a streaming video.
LOVE this show growin up with the bad audio n all, LMAO!!! Hey does anyone remember the one where cap had his own daughter on the show and she completely wrecked the show for whining and crying, and cap was losing his cool on national tv? I'll remember that one for life, tell me theres somebody out there that can back me up, i know you know, c'mon, (still LMAO!!!)
Yay! I was a senior in high school, but my kid sister watched Captain 20. I was more into the Count. Good times! Man, this brings back memories! Awesome!
God man, I used to watch Captain 20 all the time when I was a kid, such memories. Jesus I'm gettin' old. Who remembers Creature Feature with Count Gore Deval? Remember ritualistically flippin' over to Channel twenty every Saturday night after SNL? This show came on after school before the Superfriends!
When you watch Family Guy, don't you look at anchorman Tom Tucker and say, "OMG! Doesn't he look like Captain 20?"

Dig that version of "Norwegian Wood" playing in the background.....Totally 80's. Poor Meredith, sounds like she was having a bad snack day.

I have the audio from this and another "monsters" PSA "learn to share with a friend!" from around 81-82 on a cassette tape.

Bring back local programming. 867 episodes of Law and Order a day are enough. Bring back Captain 20.
