  • @whitedime Foam rolling followed by static stretching can be much more effective then either alone. Don't neglect stretching, foam roll is not meant to replace and static stretching especially during 'phase one' workouts actually is (for most people) necessary to help the muscle repair, align/grow properly, and to, most importantly, STAY THAT WAY. Higher phase workouts don't need static stretching but that doesn't mean one never does it again either.

  • Just stumbled upon this demonstration. Are these stretches done before lifting? Is the thought behind this therapy to aid with muscle soreness?

  • @KDub1961 See "Self Myofascial Release". In short, yes, this is a component of muscle realignment and repair.

  • I'd suck that dick

  • hardcore fast demonstrations

  • @TeppTennis UMADBRA!!?!?!!

  • i bought maximum strength and ive been doing these for four weeks..the tennis ball calf stretch is a personal massage it feels so good

  • What kind of ball is that? can I use a round hard plastic hockey ball?

  • @cljfox Its a lacrosse ball. If that is too hard for you then downgrade to a street hockey ball.

  • great way to masturbate in the gym

  • I AM a monkey who humps a football and I take exception to your analogy!! A. that's not what it looks like. 2. get some sun. $. Thanks for the vid, minus the discriminatory and unecessary shot at monkies.

  • guess you just couldn't wait until the vacuum cleaner was a little further than five feet away?

  • turn the damn vacuum off......

  • So is it bad to roll the lower back..?

  • Is that a tennis ball?

  • What size is that Roller? I want to order 1 or 2 from the US. as here in Norway we dont have foam rollers for sale.

  • @Kampkunstner just go to a hardware store and get either 3 or 4 inch PVC pipes. those should be available everywhere

  • @Kampkunstner

Avløpsrør pakka i bobleplast e.l. gjør susen!

  • wow gay shorts the hot to digg. you covered it ..!

  • "monkey humpin a football" lol

  • Hi just a quick question when iv been doing foam rolling there has been some arguments about holding postion as if there is knots in the muscle you will relise / flood the knot there for realiseing . also with the lat would it be better to follow the muscle around so instead of staying on the side flowing the muscle fibers around to the attatment . Love fit cast im a english Personal trainer and loveing the knolege i have gained from you cast

  • why sould i do this exercice?

  • is that a special ball or is it just a tennis ball or something?

also, is there some reason you left out the hamstrings? Are you not supposed to roll your hams?

  • I've heard the same thing TS500ER that you shouldn't foam roll before training. I think it was Bill Hartman that said it in an audio I was listening to. So, I think it depends on the source and your goals. I think if your a little achy or not completely warmed up then I don't think you can go wrong with a little rolling before training.

  • People are saying that you shouldn't do the rolling prior to training. It relaxes you too much and you lose the motivation to train. Do them after training. True / False ?

  • i just got the Magnificent Mobility DVD! yeah. i had to tell you

  • nice vid, but..... couldn't you wait until the damn vacuum was done?

  • Thanks for the video. I love reading your articles on T-Muscle magazine.

  • This is a wonderful demonstration video. Nice work!

  • got serious heel problems, caused by muscle problems in the calv and under the foot, working with the ball brings pain release fast!

not many doctors or physiotherapist will tell you these exercises, because they would loose many klients :-) !

    thanx

  • vacuum is killin me

  • what an inconsiderate cleaner! sack that fool!!

  • That's not a cleaner, that the myofascia releasing! Stuff was backed up!

  • I'm suree this is good stuff as always from Cressey but I can't watch it with the fucking vacuum noise. Please re-film this

  • Couldn't you get the cunt with the vacuum to stfu first?

  • Is someone vacuum cleaning? seriously.

  • Awesome stuff. Helped alot, I have ankle problems, after going through the routine my ankles feel better already

  • "If you do this right you should look like a monkey humping a football"

    lol

  • Terrific!!!!

Today I did these shoulder routine w/ tennis ball and my left shoulder which I couldn't abduct has got much better immediately.

  • did my first session today...I feel like a i'm falling apart!

  • Absolutely awesome video!

  • this is a very painful stuff. Especially the abductors!

  • those foam ones are good. one time I done it with a rolling wooden pin.

  • Great video... a lot better than that other one when you search "self myofascial release". It's 10 minutes and NO commentary -NONE.

  • Great video but be very careful about the foam roller on your spine. A very big no no especially if you have osteoporosis or osteopina

  • what? not on your spine? never heard of this

  • Thats only a contraindication to an existing medical condition. You could say that for anything eg. "Don't use it on your legs if your leg is broken" or " Dont roll your shoulder with the ball if you have bad tendinitis"

There's no reason not to be doing any of this stuff unless you yourself have a medical defect.

  • Great vid, thanks.

  • Thanks for the upload. This is excellent myofascial release. How many times a week should this done for a hard working athlete?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm a huge fan of this warm up

  • i can feel my muscles getting worked just watching this

  • Great to have quality people posting info here.

  • Great Video! Thanks for sharing!

  • No hamstrings?

  • hamstrings are usually better with sticks than foam rollers

  • sticks?

  • massage sticks

  • Reminds me of my porn

  • Question...I read that foam rolling is not meant for those in chronic pain..does anyone know why? It seems to me this would be one of the main reasons to use it. I haven't found a reason to the statement..anyone know?

  • I had read that as well, but I'd also found information on massage therapy being used on clients with fibromyalgia with great success.

I took a chance on a few of my clients who have fibro and it helped their chronic pain a great deal.

  • I do all these at the gym. then snicker to myself watching everyone else doing endless static stretches before lifing. EC's the man. I just bought his new book and am seeing results two weeks in. very impressive.

  • @whitedime Just did a search for Maximum Strength and it's sold out at all the bookstores near me. Gonna go and put in an order tomorrow. Great video, Mr. Cressey. Thanks !

  • @whitedime Dynamic stretching is where it's at + soft tissue work.

  • Well done,

We do this drill using a full water bottle.
