Wow, its 1990s and they are talking about the death of manufacturing and farming and a manufacturing country. We need to give zero tax breaks/low taxes to our manufacturing companies
A sad day, I have been reading his book these past few months and followed his battle with cancer, he was obviously degrading in health and appearance but the news of his death was nevertheless a shock. What a loss! There will be no more books, no more articles, no more beautiful prose and irony and insight. So sad...
Look at Richard Crutchfield, when American interviewers and interviewees had class, style, dignity and intelligence. Today we have a white trash circus of baffling buffoon non-college educated whites like Glenn Beck and minions of Tea Baggers who march and protest against their own economic interest. Example: "Get your government hands off my Medicare!" Idiots... They should all die.
In Twain's novel "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court", the character Clarence, the Boss Hank Morgan's aide, protégé, and secretary, suggests an alternative version of monarchy: a royal family of cats. Hank is so taken with the idea of a more pliant, less destructive monarchy that he is stunned when Clarence lets loose with a loud hiss. It's funnier than it seems when I recount it.
@Vostoek At least he's still a Marxist, I interpret his deviation from "Socialism" not as a direct repudiation, but rather a dissatisfaction with the development of supposedly Socialist alternatives. I think he's admitted to that.

Goodbye, Mr. Hitchens. Thank you for everything.

Richard Critchfield is one of the few on this show fully worthy of sharing the table with Hitchens. Character, honesty, refreshing.
