Great video but I must say I am really bummed at the moment. All the older vids I have seen on this camcorder showed it at around $320.00US but it seems that now it is at $995.00. Same camera, just a year or two too late for me.HD with an ecterna mic and manual controls for 300 bucks was a dream for me, alas, not to be.

@ellenthedolphin there's no shoe to mount the microphone, but there is a jack for input and an adapter wire to make a minijack microphone fit. I'm pretty sure you can buy an extension with a shoe mount that will screw into the tripod mount.

@MartinMediaWorks the HD1010 is 1080i which is is a lot more powerful than 1080p, the Sanyo HD1000 is 1080p,1080i is movie quality if you know what your doing when you go to edit

Almost all of my videos on YouTube are recorded with the Xacti HD1010. It's very good. You can record while charging, it comes with the AV cables but you have to buy an HDMI if you need one.

I have the HD1000, HD1010 and HD2000 here, I use them all the time, one comes with me when I am out, the others stay at home etc. Personally I think there is very little difference between the 3, mostly down to Zoom and newer features on the HD2000, in terms of video quality, theres nothing between them.
