  • Do you think the mini adapter will worl with the alesis osp d 502 mkll e drums?

  • I own Roland's HD1 and I would like to be able to use the open hit hat, which is mapped to blue cymbals in the game.

It doesn't seem possible though, even selecting hit hat instead of double bass in RB3 settings I can't get the open hit hat mapped to blue cymbals. I have read that this can be done with superior modules like for instance Roland's TD-9, TD-12 and TD-20, but not with HD1 or TD-4, since you can not change individual notes in these modules.

Have you guys succeeded to do so?

  • Does the MIDI Pro Adapter work in Roland td9kx?

  • Hi, I have Roland HD-1 and works great but at times it will sporadically state that it's disconnected? All I do is press (green) to continue ...not sure what is causing this ... just wondering if you were getting same issue? I might check my cables ...?

  • Merry christmas

  • Hi!

It seems, that Roland works very well together with the MC Adapter!

Do you know, if the Adapter also works with the TD-3 Modul without modificating the DrumBrain or buying any other addon?

It is very difficult to get the MidiPro Adapter, but i hope, that i can Plug and Play my TD-3 (even the open hi-hat)

    Thank you for the answer!

  • @joshi883 as long as the drumkit has midi then it will work

  • Do one using traditional grip

  • sorry for the double post

  • What's the title of the song..?

  • @enrick555

    Centerfold

  • @DocSoCalHB One of my fav songs :)

  • @enrick555

    Centerfold.... 80's song I believe...

  • Did you have to do any modification to get the hi-hat pedal working or does the midi adapter actually do the change itself? If so, that's wicked awesome. A couple other questions about the adapter, does it let your e-kit work for the older games (RB1, RB2), even if it's just the 4 pads? Also I can't tell but I'm assuming your kit has a bass drum as opposed to using a trigger pedal like the Ions. Does the adapter read these well? Thanks for any info.

  • @MaestroSpartan

The MIDI adapter just does what it is told. The working HH is due to setting my Roland module to tell the MPA to send yellow data when closed and blue when open. I use a Roland KD85 kick trigger and a Pearl Demon Drve pedal, the kick drum works thensame as any of the other pads with regards to the in game function. The MIDI Pro works with all Rock Band titles for drums.

  • @DocSoCalHB That is too cool. I have to get one of these asap. Seems like a way better solution than the Ion module. So basically you could have your ride cymbal be your bass drum if you really wanted? Or anything be anything? Thanks much!

  • So when your using the hi-hat pedal it's actually hitting a note?

  • @ChargersRock13

No, it changes the HH cymbal from yellow (closed) to blue (open).

  • @DocSoCalHB

this is prob more a question about the roland module than the midi pro adapter, but the issue I have with my Allesis IO/Trigger is when I step to close my hi-hat (without hitting it with the stick), the trigger senses a hit, and it sends a yellow note to rockband causing me to lose my 4x multiplier (or whichever). Do you have the same issue with the Roland? if yes, how did you get around it?

  • brilliant, thanks for uploading

  • THE FUCKING HI HAT PEDAL I LOVE YOU SO

  • can you plug your drums into an amp and still play rockband so that theres rockband sound and drum sound ??? thank ya

  • @tolexelot

    Yes, you can.

  • @DocSoCalHB okay thanks thats very nice ;D so same with keyboard and the squier i think (would be strange if not) :D ?

  • @tolexelot

Well that depends on the keyboard and the Squier wont score as well with the string mute not in place but that's not a super big deal a that point IMO since you would be judging your performance based on how good it sounds as opposed to game score.

  • Awesome sauce -- Good performance too! Just picked up a roland td9 and looking forward to smashing some notes...

...you need to synch your tv signal sir :) audio is in, but video delay is way off.

  • how easy was the adapter to set up?

  • @Y2KHydro

    Very easy

  • Do the MIDI PRO adapter works on any drums ex yamaha DTX

  • @Quicksn1p3R

I works on any drums with assignable MIDI notes or that use the proper native MIDI notes. See the manual on the Mad Catz site.

  • does it like auto pick the pads ? like if i plug it in will the pads work on the game right away or would i have to fuck with things

  • @rspker378

That really depends on if your kit sends the right MIDI notes out. There is more than one acceptable MIDI note usable per pad input. You can see these in the manual on the Mad Catz site or in the MIDI Pro FAQ on the Rockband Forms Hardware Support page.

All I had to do was assign the right note to each pad and I was good to go. About 5 minutes to dial in since I am very familiar with making MIDI adjustments on my kit.

  • how did u get it early the one for xbox comes out on dec 26 ?? and can u make a video of u hookin it up plx that would help so much

  • @rspker378

PS3 versions came out first. I have had it for a few weeks.

A hook up video would be pretty boring, its one cable.

  • @greenzoid2 i know because they give you a little of a window to hit, but i think and alot of rockband drummers like to have the video line up perfectly with the audio. i think it makes thingsa lot better when its right on. peace

  • @DocSoCalHB right on doc, what ever works for you right.

  • How did you get your adapter? My order says December 26th :/

  • @malcolmgetscrazy

Bought them off the shelf at Best Buy

  • @DocSoCalHB Wich one? I cant find them here in the Valley...

  • @DocSoCalHB Wich one? I cant find them here in the Valley...

  • @spectre486

Huntington Beach, they had 3 PS3 and 3 Wii, no 360.

  • @DocSoCalHB thank you I have it now... but I cant seem to get the hh pedal to switch like yours does. I have simmons sdk7. The adapter reads when I use my hh pedal but nothing else happens. Any advice on fixing this?

  • @spectre486

You have to set your drum module settings to have this work, the adapter does nothing to make I happen. Your module may or may not support the option of assigning independent MIDI notes to open and closed.

  • hey doc nice setup there, i was wondering if you noticed that your calibration is off, when you hit the notes to the music it seems that the notes are registering after that hit bar. if you watch the vid you'll see it. just trying to help. peace

  • @TruClassic

Thanks, I don't really play on the hit line, I look far up the chart and use my ears to play what I she when it fits in the song.

Sounds crazy but I guess that's what makes it easy for me to not spend a ton of time fussing with calibration numbers. I just do a quick run through via manual and play. If the sound matches mu drumming, off I go.

  • @TruClassic The notes don't HAVE to line up with the hit bar. Just make sure that you are hitting the notes on the beat.

  • I thought they stated that the HH control could only be controlled in fills. Or do you have it set that way on your drum brain?

I've been doing this with the GHWT module as well, but I had to connect a MIDI to my computer in order to translate it to the GHWT module. I know the DTXplorer is recognized by the Adaptor, but I would like to keep the blue/yellow functionality...

  • @22harp22

The TD12 has independent settings for open and closed HH MIDi Notes.

Its all drum module settings, the MIDI Pro Has nothing to do with it.

  • @DocSoCalHB :/ I guess I should have expected that...

Well, just another wire to have laying around...

  • @22harp22

Have you considered a MIDi event processor instead of the PC? Seems it would be much more "tidy"

MIDI Solutions makes a 10 event processor for about 125 bucks and will make your bridge a little box instead of a PC so you could strap it to your drum rack somewhere.
