You could use thick plastic sheets instead of that noisy silver foil right? I would prefer plastic sheets. Your recipes are real simple and fast. But once in a while, do show your face. I too am from Secunderabad :), now in US.
Hello sir, this was good one.. we also add left over boiled rice in this also some freid onions. You said you are in Secunderabad... but what you cook is mostly karnataka cuisine......
That is very nice to know sir... and so was my dad from karnataka ...however karnataka cuisine is more healthier when compared to all the other states in south.....specially the north karnataka one...it is not spicy enough....which makes it more healthy...
thanks a lot for the very encouraging comments, really appreciate them ! and secunderabad, especially is a beautiful place, ...marredpally ?that would be too much of a coincidence ! me too ! yes, am researching on a few good recipes which i will be posting after perfecting them ! :)
oooh! looks so cute. But my situation is kinda diff! Im in US and i don have a slightest idea were it will be available! are u in india? which part are u from?
you're are lucky if you have migrated to the us..its a beautiful place...and i did notice on a visit last year that these things are available in the indian grocery stores which are there in every state in the usa.. yes, i'm in india.. in hyderabad ( actually secunderabad !)
thanks for encouraging my recipe uncle! im a ametuer cook...just learning. So,i don know the fundas behind many recipes. i do it the way im taught...:)! thank u so much for telling me the reason of pouring hot salt water. My husband is very traditional wen it comes to rice rotti! if he sees me doing this pressing job.....thats it im gone. he will start commenting that im lazy! :)
i remember, my mom used to make me climb a nearby badam tree to pluck fresh leaves ( large ones ) from it and would insist that you have to press it only on the badam leaf.. ! she changed to plastic sheet only when her own sister ( whom she has a good regard for ) told her..now even my moms sister bought a poori press and is going about telling every one !
hi!thanks for the recipe uncle. I usually make the traditional one taught by my mother in law.I add boiling salt water to rice flour and simultaneously mixing well. then make the chappati shape with my hands. We usually have it with groundnut chutney. Thats a plain version. Yours look a different one. Will try that too. :)
thanks for the encouraging comment ! yes, adding hot salt water makes the dough a little less brittle so that you can shape it with your hand; i found the poori press doing the job of making the chappati shape easier.. yes groundnut chutney is the ideal.. some people like it with jaggery, some with just butter and me - just like that ! :-) cheers !:-)
Wow, this looks very exotic. I have never even heard of rice roti. I can't wait to try this and give my family a change from the same old whole-wheat roti. Thanks.
Thats the way ahuh ahuh I like it ahuh ahuh! Yeah!
