@reksub10 it takes a little and yes you will be alot stonger later on. there is plenty of other things going on so when they take over your den you can ignore it
how do you destroy the ram that comes through with the flame thrower? the dumb thing never takes any damage. I save my cannons for it and they not only miss from inaccuracy but it never brakes.

i play it on pc, and i can't seem to even fucking chose the "crossbow men" at the tutorial. how the fuck do i chose anything from the weaponwheel during den defence?
at the start of the level only use gunman not the crossbow assassins. and only put barricades up at the middle or end (use your hidden gun and it will hold more of them off) so you save moral points to put towards stronger barricades and more gunmen on the roof-tops. After the fire tank you get a cannon tank witch is even harder, but when you blow that up you get a cannon barricade (a barricade with a cannon) so next time you get a fire-tank it will be easier to destroy.
You need to max your notoriety, then survive an assassination attempt. Wait, wait, and wait some more with max notoriety. Finally they will attack a non-locked den (if they all have level 15 assassins, it won't happen).
I have some good news for those of you who hate this mini-game but want the 3 base defense achievement under the Assassin's Challenge. You can go back to the memory of the first base defense and replay that one 3 times. It will give you the achievement. It is almost impossible to lose this battle since they are trying to show you how to perform a base defense. No more losing a base then waiting and hour for the chance to redeem yourself!!
@MRVOC047 you conquer the dens from the templars, and as you play they will try and take over your dens, and you will be notificated, then go to the mark on the map, interact and you will start the mission.

every time I try to Create more baracades or get more gunners all they do is die and then when they come in with the FLame throwers guns and cannons all that ever happens is them taking back the den that sucks
it is quite easy... do this EVERY step and you will win,
1. place the best baricade you have (-1st to last- cannon, flame trower,normal) use only the best type of baricade and place it on the most forward spot, to the most defending position.
2. capture 1 roof and put 2 assasins on it (with a hidden blade)
3. use cannons only once they have to be ready for big attack
4. nick the enemys
5. capture a seccond roof and place up 2 more assasins (with hidden blade)
@REDXJeenKs30000 In the beggining no, but later defenses can become a real pain in the ass, as the kill your men the whole freaking time which dosen't happen in a normal tower defense game! Plus the controls for it are bad and clunky :s

I got the 3/3 den defense easy. People who whine about den defense should really try to develop a more strategic sense in my honest opinion. It's not hard maybe the last one with the cannon ball but other than that... practice makes perfection. :)

Dont know why people are bitching first AC is too easy now its too hard stop fucking whining and get master assassins on the dens if its too hard, and for people like myself who like the challenge, try to get crosbowmen and gunmen on the roofs first, the assassin leaders too (to earn the moral) then focus on putting baricades up and strengthening them. Your troops should be able to handle the forces until the siege weapon arrives, once that happens use caltrop bombers to slow the troops down

I think mine is glitched. I do very well for all of the defense until the seige engine comes. Then, for some inexplicable reason, my cannons shoot right past it. Any advice on fast ways to take out seige engine without cannons. The only special barricades I have at this point are the Greek Fire and Multi-Gun barricades. None of my units seem to be able to do anything.
So there is physically no way to stop the tanks? So what is the point? I just wait for the tank to attack and then i go in a kill the den captain! Easy as piss, but a waste of time!

I agree with most, I hate this minigame. I just recently found out you can move the damn cursor up and down. I kept getting frustrated trying to place people on the rooftops. And I can't seem to ever beat the damn tanks, this video didn't help with that.
The game saysa to press the Left Button for cannons. I put the cursor over the tank thing press LB and nothing happens. So all I can do is watch as my dend is destroyed.
@TheCODlovr ....yeah that actually happened to me, on my 3rd and last defense, the tank stoped at the beginning of the street and shot at the den from there. It was great it made it easier for me to blow it up....so no complaints from me.
I fucking HATE not being able to find enough heralds and officials in time. You waste 15 minutes doing the most boring shit then you get royally fucked up by a cannon at the end EVERY FUCKING TIME. There's like 4 guys operating the cannon, why wouldn't Ezio just jump down and stab the shit out of them? Instead you get the world's worst shots to try to take them down. FUCK I HATE DEN DEFENSE.
@nathan96berry Wanting to get den defense is like wanting to get a case of burning diarrhea. To answer your question though, once your notoriety gets high enough by killing guards or captains, you will have a (far as I can tell) random amount of time to lower your notoriety before you get a message saying one of your dens has been attacked.

I hate this part of the game. I cannot beat the tanks, no matter what I do. I am at the point that I want to skip this part then retake the den later.
I do that. I'll place up to 3 barricades with assassins and everything is fine until the fucking tank comes. The cannon hardly does anything to it and all the assassins die while the barricades are being set on fire. Fun.
Glad to help out guys....yeah at first I thought it was impossible to beat...but after I figured out exactly what to do, it's easy......after you beat it 3 times....the 4th times is super easy....there's no tank!
Remember though, to get the "Iron Curtain" achievement you cant use any cannons......but since there's no tank you don't need it!

Just kicked the second ones ass. When you beat the first one, you get the Greek fire barrier...use it! It plows through the troops. Be careful though..they now have bomber troops that can blow up your barrier....so be prepared to rebuild it immediately.
Same goes as before...rifle man city on both sides with assassin leaders. Oh and dont forget to loot the troops...it gives you moral points to buy more rifle men...just move the pointer over the dead guys and hit the "B" button. Game changer!
Okay I just beat the first one.....here's what you do...place 2 assassin leaders on both sides for cross fire effect then place nothing but rifle assassins and only rifle guys.
Whenever a guy dies, replace him immediately with a rifle guy.
When the tank shows up start hitting it with cannons....and you also shoot at it with your pistol. Continuous fire the whole time.
Also when the tank gets to the den..place a leader and set of riflemen behind the tank...just keep shooting at it.
Here I thought the multiplayer was a pointless addition now they add RTS elements. NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS.
It's poorly implemented, and right now all my towers are burning because I could give a flying ***k about this aspect of the game. Everything else is A+ though.
God Dammit. Unless you have nuclear fucking cannon balls there's litte way of destroying those rams. I'm at the point of just letting the assholes burn my den and then taking it back later on.
Half the time i cant even put people on all the roofs, at one point i had my guys up the front but once the fire tank took out the barricades there was nothing i could do. Seems like a pretty broken game mechanic all round! :(
siege machines are easily beaten by having a lot of riflemen. just make sure your riflemen don't die, have a cannon barricade, and use the special cannon attack thingy (red bars). for some reason riflemen do more damage than cannons or bombs
This is starting to be BS. I do perfectly fine until the end where that fucking greek fire tank ass rapes me. I tried using the cannons to take it down. It just plows straight through my barricades and my crossbowman and rifleman can do shit against it. I dont know what the hell to do and i can always be keeping a low profile when i gain awareness every time i renovate a shop. WTF?
For god's sake. This is easily the worst part of the game. Its horrible. I can deal with it until the end, with that stone battering ram thing. I used all three cannons at once on it and it barely made any damage. I had 3-4 barricades up but it basicallys rolls straight through them. It sucks... Unless I'm doing something wrong. There has got to be a way to take down that fucking fire tank.... I came close of doing it. Just barricade the hell out of the street with one leader. Then cannon the first wave then loot the bodies and start using rifle or crossbows
I am trying to get the sword of altair which you get for completing all the assassin guild missions and these fecking den defences is a requirement!!! you need to complete the den defence 3 times as part of the guild objectives!!! its bad enough trying to beat it once!!! and if you want to keep a low profile if have scour the area for a templar witness or preacher to lower your profile if you dont want a den to be attacked!
@John1993W dude... den defence is fucking easy, yeah you might lose 1 or 2 times but once you get the cannon baricade just use that and spam rifflemen. if you do that you don't even need to use the cannon.
If you don't like Den Defense, keep a low profile and stop killing innocents... make sure you pay off scribes and kill city officials to keep your meter at the lowest possible profile. I was having to defend my dens constantly until I realized I wasn't keeping my top-left meter as low as possible.
well there is a way for you to make your dens immune to attacks.. you can do it by assigning an assassin to a den and completing both parts of his or her Master Assassin training will cause that den to become 'locked', rendering it immune to future Templar attacks.... also whenever the templar awareness meter is in aware status, performing actions that lead to meter increases may provoke an attack on an assassin den.
How the hell can i get templars to attack my shit I keep destroying shit and so far nothing I haven't even paid heralds

Yesterday when I was doing Den Defense, there was a glitch. I was getting morale points, and no templars were showing up.
I got over 2,000 morale points before I restarted.

Dont know why people are bitching first AC is too easy now its too hard stop fucking whining and get master assassins on the dens if its too hard, and for people like myself who like the challenge, try to get crosbowmen and gunmen on the roofs first, the assassin leaders too (to earn the moral) then focus on putting baricades up and strengthening them. Your troops should be able to handle the forces until the siege weapon arrives, once that happens use caltrop bombers to slow the troops down

I think mine is glitched. I do very well for all of the defense until the seige engine comes. Then, for some inexplicable reason, my cannons shoot right past it. Any advice on fast ways to take out seige engine without cannons. The only special barricades I have at this point are the Greek Fire and Multi-Gun barricades. None of my units seem to be able to do anything.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ill place 3 barricades or so with weapons on them and bruisers yet still the fucking ram can get past it in 20 seconds, Den defense is a piece of shit, if you don't find heralds or officials, you're fucked.

I agree with most, I hate this minigame. I just recently found out you can move the damn cursor up and down. I kept getting frustrated trying to place people on the rooftops. And I can't seem to ever beat the damn tanks, this video didn't help with that.

The game saysa to press the Left Button for cannons. I put the cursor over the tank thing press LB and nothing happens. So all I can do is watch as my dend is destroyed.

@TheCODlovr ....yeah that actually happened to me, on my 3rd and last defense, the tank stoped at the beginning of the street and shot at the den from there. It was great it made it easier for me to blow it up....so no complaints from me.

I fucking HATE not being able to find enough heralds and officials in time. You waste 15 minutes doing the most boring shit then you get royally fucked up by a cannon at the end EVERY FUCKING TIME. There's like 4 guys operating the cannon, why wouldn't Ezio just jump down and stab the shit out of them? Instead you get the world's worst shots to try to take them down. FUCK I HATE DEN DEFENSE.

@nathan96berry Wanting to get den defense is like wanting to get a case of burning diarrhea. To answer your question though, once your notoriety gets high enough by killing guards or captains, you will have a (far as I can tell) random amount of time to lower your notoriety before you get a message saying one of your dens has been attacked.

I do that. I'll place up to 3 barricades with assassins and everything is fine until the fucking tank comes. The cannon hardly does anything to it and all the assassins die while the barricades are being set on fire. Fun.

Some tips that helped me:
1. Ignore archers, focus on placing rifleman
2. Place a barricade early if you are only using rifles
3. Only use cannons near barricades as they are very inaccurate
4. The air assassins are pretty decent. Place 1 for every 2 rifleman
5. Once you unlock them, place a fire barricade up front and a cannon barricade far back
6. Spam Ezio's gun and loot as much as possible
7. Pay attention in case of the bombers destroying barricades

Glad to help out guys....yeah at first I thought it was impossible to beat...but after I figured out exactly what to do, it's easy......after you beat it 3 times....the 4th times is super easy....there's no tank!
Remember though, to get the "Iron Curtain" achievement you cant use any cannons......but since there's no tank you don't need it!

Just kicked the second ones ass. When you beat the first one, you get the Greek fire barrier...use it! It plows through the troops. Be careful though..they now have bomber troops that can blow up your barrier....so be prepared to rebuild it immediately.
Same goes as before...rifle man city on both sides with assassin leaders. Oh and dont forget to loot the troops...it gives you moral points to buy more rifle men...just move the pointer over the dead guys and hit the "B" button. Game changer!

Okay I just beat the first one.....here's what you do...place 2 assassin leaders on both sides for cross fire effect then place nothing but rifle assassins and only rifle guys.
Whenever a guy dies, replace him immediately with a rifle guy.
When the tank shows up start hitting it with cannons....and you also shoot at it with your pistol. Continuous fire the whole time.
Also when the tank gets to the den..place a leader and set of riflemen behind the tank...just keep shooting at it.

Here I thought the multiplayer was a pointless addition now they add RTS elements. NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS.
It's poorly implemented, and right now all my towers are burning because I could give a flying ***k about this aspect of the game. Everything else is A+ though.

Half the time i cant even put people on all the roofs, at one point i had my guys up the front but once the fire tank took out the barricades there was nothing i could do. Seems like a pretty broken game mechanic all round! :(

siege machines are easily beaten by having a lot of riflemen. just make sure your riflemen don't die, have a cannon barricade, and use the special cannon attack thingy (red bars). for some reason riflemen do more damage than cannons or bombs

This is starting to be BS. I do perfectly fine until the end where that fucking greek fire tank ass rapes me. I tried using the cannons to take it down. It just plows straight through my barricades and my crossbowman and rifleman can do shit against it. I dont know what the hell to do and i can always be keeping a low profile when i gain awareness every time i renovate a shop. WTF?

For god's sake. This is easily the worst part of the game. Its horrible. I can deal with it until the end, with that stone battering ram thing. I used all three cannons at once on it and it barely made any damage. I had 3-4 barricades up but it basicallys rolls straight through them. It sucks... Unless I'm doing something wrong. Judging by the rest of the comments, I'm not the only one with the problem though

I am trying to get the sword of altair which you get for completing all the assassin guild missions and these fecking den defences is a requirement!!! you need to complete the den defence 3 times as part of the guild objectives!!! its bad enough trying to beat it once!!! and if you want to keep a low profile if have scour the area for a templar witness or preacher to lower your profile if you dont want a den to be attacked!

If you don't like Den Defense, keep a low profile and stop killing innocents... make sure you pay off scribes and kill city officials to keep your meter at the lowest possible profile. I was having to defend my dens constantly until I realized I wasn't keeping my top-left meter as low as possible.

I actually love den defense, to prevent it you have to assign a lvl 15 assassin to a den, with a lvl 10 they can still try to take it.

well there is a way for you to make your dens immune to attacks.. you can do it by assigning an assassin to a den and completing both parts of his or her Master Assassin training will cause that den to become 'locked', rendering it immune to future Templar attacks.... also whenever the templar awareness meter is in aware status, performing actions that lead to meter increases may provoke an attack on an assassin den.
