  • I am an American MacDonald, My clan's houses were burnt to the ground and then we we left for Nova Scotia, and moved down towards the states....When my dad brought my sister and I home, we met a Campbell <3 She said "Aye....Watch yer back Mr. MacDonald...for I be a Campbell <3 She might have well been a MacDonald, she had so much love for us in her voice <3

  • the divide will always be there but ill never forgoet im scottish not saxon

  • Aye they didn'a get us a' tho. Wur stull here yet.

  • JUST A VISION FROM THE 45 WITH THE ART OF HINDSIGHT WHY DONT ALL campbells STAY THE FCUK AWAY FROM GLEN COE AND INFACT ALL THE TRAITORS OF MANY CLANS GO NOW AND JION KB HE IS DIED campbell=TREACHERY FORGIVENESS NEVER

  • actually some oh the Campbell's told clan MacDonald about the set up thats how we were able to get away

  • It was the orders of King William of Orange, the MacDonalds did not want to swear allegiance to a foreign king until they had permission from the true King of Scotland.

    Long live the MacDonald clan.

  • @framac1110 King William of Orange who was he another invader for gods sake

  • long live the jacbites

  • Im a mutt, half Finnish a quarter Swedish and the rest English and SCOTTISH! Most of us americans are fucking mixed...

  • MAY WILLIAM ROT IN HELL GOD BLESS KING JAMES

  • High Wood , ya fecking Campbell

  • Have the MacLeods forgiven the MacDonalds?

  • @irateofwatford WHA REALLY CARES ITS THE campbells MENTIONED IN THE SONG!!!! THE MacLEODS WERE ALWAYS TRUE TO THE CROWN AND PROUD MEN

  • Soon we will be free !

    Independence for Scotland.

  • Nevertheless a great song...

  • Children, I have not read anything true to the story on here, gaconnichie, we all know it wasnt the Campbells, it was English Troops disguised, that was after Old Man MacDonalds truce was refused, he couldnt deliver on time due to bad weather. • killing because they were catholic. under williams order. scum

  • @andygracey1 WELL SPOTTED YOUNG MAN the Jacobites will never be beaten not when but one son lives Camplell is ot be trusted but as the generations continue they are not ALL bad just MOST GOD bless KING JAMES

  • Can foxes really kill sheep?

  • @RocaDeearCenjar A wee lamb yes, But a fully fit sheep can easily see of a fox. And decent farm fences can keep foxes at bay.

  • @TheSpiritof45 Someone already answered my question, and quite frankly their answer was far more sastifactory then yours.

  • @RocaDeearCenjar WAS IT MORE CORRECT!!!!!! AND TRY USING THAN NOT THEN IT MAKES UNDERSTANDING MUCH EASIER! BUT KEEP ON BEING "FRANKLY" IT PUTS ACROSS SARCASM SO WELL HAVE YOU GOT SOME campbell BLOOD IN YOU!!!!!

  • @TheSpiritof45 No... and really the reason his answer was better was because he explained it in detail. All you said was "yes" which does give an answer but dosn't give much in the realms of "why" and "how". So please, if you can give a better explanation on how foxes can most definetly kill sheep then by all means do so as it would be apperciated

  • @RocaDeearCenjar i looked into ur quandry it appears to be 2 real answers 1 the song would imply that the MACDONALDS were helpless sheep as they were asleep and completely in a state of trust and the foxes were the sly sleekit exelent at sudden action of violent attack of the argyls 2 the natural straight forward question can it happen i spent my first 20 years on a farm and the main tactic of a fox is 2 chase the FULL size sheep till it gets 2 a stage of panic then munch a' the best

  • @TheSpiritof45 That was much more informative, adding in your own personal experience was an especially good point. Thank you for telling me that.

  • @RocaDeearCenjar yes they can...

  • @B00NCHAN I know. That fact has already been established twice.

  • MON THE CAMPBELLS HAHAHA CHOP CHOP

  • troops were actually Campbells. To me the idea that it was somehow a clan action was a get out for central govt. When the shit hit the fan then the propaganda went into overdrive. Not our fault sitting in power in Edinburgh - it was those bloody savage HIghlanders massacring each other again.

  • @gaconnochie we highlanders might have been a little savage. But we are still scots the same. We want Independance just as much as any lowlander

  • @DrinkToIreland I don't think they were any more savage than Lowlanders. Just suited central govt to portray them as so :-)

  • @gaconnochie ah ok

  • @gaconnochie I must have missunderstud your comment. This song is so good. As is every song by the corries. Alba Gu Brath! :)

  • We campbells did it under orders from the scottish KING. Listen to the lyrics of the song "The Campbell had orders, King William had signed" We didn't do it for a random reason. We did it because the king had ordered us to.

  • @DrinkToIreland "We campbells did it under orders from the scottish KING" Although in truth the Campbells didn't actually do it at all. It was devised and planned by central govt in Edinburgh with the agreement of the king in London and carreid out by an official Scottish regiment of the line at that time. Campbell of Argyll was the colonel in chief but that was only an honoury title and he had no command etc. Campbell of Glenorchy was in command of the troops but only a tiny minority of the

  • @gaconnochie yeah. Thanks for not being a jackarse that says "Campbells suck" mate :)

  • @albagubrath90

You are an utter wank, I am embarrassed for you trying not to show you sectarianism but yet failing so badly. You try and pretend you are in the middle but yet use words suchs a taig and tattie mucher. You are an anti irish bigot and that is it.

I am a scot and Irishman. A proud Celt.

    You are an ignorant prick

  • @CYBYEH Actually wasnt me who wrote that shit pal, was my wee brother, left my acount open by mistake and he thought it would be funny to act like a dick by posting stuff to wind people up. My granny and granddad where irish so im anything but anti irish, although i would like to say you cant have two nationalities you are either scottish or irish not both.

  • alba gu brath

  • @JamesDonnelly90 no you fool Ireland was taken as a whole by the english... the scots only came in at about 1603 and england already held ireland.... the only the thing scots helped protect was northern ireland. Learn some facts dumbarse

  • @JamesDonnelly90 fuck the pope, this coming from a man RAISED catholic. I am seriously thinking of converting to protestant. Because #1 catholics believe communion is his actuall blood and body... i just can't believe that is true #2 The pope is a fucking idiot. Also this channel is for scots and according to you your an irishmen born in Scotland who hates scots so fuck off lad

  • @JamesDonnelly90 the pope is foreign , celtic christianity is native! the true irish christianity

  • @JamesDonnelly90

The famine is over...why don't you go home?

  • The Glen Coe Massacre was not a simple Campbell v MacDonalds - it was far more political. If you knew your history you would know this! The Campbells were used as a scapegoat! It was hundreds of years ago it's a little sad that people still hold grudges and if a Campbell walks into certain pubs they will be given short shrift! I'd be worried about far more important issues!

  • @graeme140677 You're right. There was only a handful of Campbells among the perpretators who were regular troops. It was a unit of the Scottish army acting on the orders of the Scottish govt itself. I suppose it was easy for central authority to shift the blame in public perception by directing it towards traditional clan rivalries. Blame the uncivilised Highlanders! In truth the various clans subjected each other to much worse atrocities in the past but this wasn't one of them

  • @gaconnochie GREAT IMFORMATION MOST PEOPLE STILL BELIEVE THEY WERE ALL campbells AND ONLY ONE WE KNO FOR SURE WAS THE SEARGENT I DISAGREE WITH YOUR BELIEF OF SCOTTISH PLANNING NO NO AND I SAY AGAIN NO IT WAS ORDERS OF THAT HORSE HUMPING ASSHOLE FROM THE DUTCH REJECTS!!!!! GOD BLESS KING JAMES OUR DAY WILL COME AGAIN!!!!!!

  • @TheSpiritof45 Long live King Francis II!

  • @gaconnochie money & power

  • @cyclefree fuck those elitist bastarding lords.... they can.go kiss my non norman hairy arse

  • @JamesDonnelly90 dumb fckin pykees eating each other

  • @JamesDonnelly90 No i aint a catholic i am certainly not a protestant i dont think thats a religion at all i am simply a follower of Christ and believe in his teaching as for this holy father stuff my holy father is the LORD i have no hatred for any religion except one [non christian one] i was not criticising your guy merely stating common knowledge if you ever meet your guy he may teach you some humility

  • @JamesDonnelly90 learn to spell muppet TOO MANY E'S IN BLESS but at least you realise the pope is not GOD he is an elderly man with a big hat and as said before he was a member of the 8 youth at the same time as genocide was taking place the blessing of God is what that MAN needs and perhaps some of your priest need some education on whats normal with regards sexual matters and this is a MUST but continue on your path but mark my words it may not be the rightous one!!! PRICK!

  • @JamesDonnelly90 WHAT THE POPE!!!!!! HE DOESNT EVEN KNOW ME I AM VERY LUCKY I CAN CONVERSE WITH THE LORD WITHOUT ALL THOSE "INBETWEENERS" I RESPECT THE PONTIF HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE HITLER YOUTH AFTER ALL AND I DONT THINK THE "SUPPORT" YOU ADVERTISE FOR PALISTINE IS A GREAT IDEA AS NOT ONE OF THE PALISTINIANS WOULD ACCEPT YOUR STANCE ON THE POPE ARE YOU NOW GOING TO ABUSE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET A LIFE YOU LACK HUMOUR COMPASION INTELIGIENCE YOUR A GUY OF POOR ONE LINERS

  • @JamesDonnelly90 NEVER HAS AN INDEPENDANT SCOTLAND INVADED IRELAND YOU BABOON AS FOR TRAITOR SCOTS WHO JOINED THE ARMIES OF THE eNGLISH CROWN YOU ARE CORRECT AND THAT FACT MAKE ME FEEL SICK BUT A VERY LARGE AMOUNT OF UR COUNTRY MEN FOUGHT IN THE FIRST WORLD WAR THRO CHOICE WHAT U GOING TO SAY ABOUT THAT I SUSPECT YOU ARE IN SOME SORT OF RESIDENTIAL CARE HOME FOR IDIOTS AND THEY LET YOU PLAY WITH COMPUTERS FOR REHABILITATION AND IT AINT WORKING!!!! good luch in getting better

  • @JamesDonnelly90 dont bring fucking religion into this..................celtic christianity is the only native version anyway...both caths and prods are foreign,,,,,,,,,,,,,celt chritianity was miles ahead of its time only focusing on jesus's life

  • @3tangle3 hi mate dont even try to dicuss anything with this heathen AND YOUR POINT IS TRUE PRODS 1560ish catholic came with the romans!!! we existed way before then this guy seems determind to profane against everything perhaps if he found some faith he might be more content BUT MAYBE NOT!!!!

  • @JamesDonnelly90 THATS DIGUSTING I AM NOT A PROTESTANT YOU FOOL AND I WOULD DO ANYTHING IN MY ABILITY TO SUPPORT IRELAND AS IT WAS TAKEN BY THE scum english JUST AS MY HOMELAND WAS GOD ONLY KNOWS WHERE YOUR IDIOTIC VIEWS COME FROM WHY DO YOU PERSIST IN THIS BELIEF OF MY FAITH BESIDES THIS SONG HAS NO RELAVANCE TO YOUR MERDE

  • @JamesDonnelly90 you really dont know your facts at all go away and read, perhaps that will be difficult but please try judging me i am happy for you to try but trust me only GOD can judge me not a moron like you god bless the 10

  • @JamesDonnelly90 i am a MACDONALD decentant you may not be aware that the majority of them are Roman Catholics to this day spelling does not really matter when a stupid person such as yourself gets the points i am surprised your picture is off the Palistine/provo badge you really sound like a union jack supporter I JUST DONT GET IT!!! but I JUST CANT GET ENOUGH of your subline stupidity SO PRODDY I AINT!!!!! • @JamesDonnelly90 not quite accurate it was king willian of england who ordered the attack SO NO IT WAS NO CLAN AGAINST CLAN THIS LIE IS AS SHITE TODAY AS IT WAS WHEN THE POWERS ON BOTH SIDES HID THE TRUTH AND ENCOURAGED THE PEOPLE TO BLAME THE CAMPBELLS AND I HAVE YET TO MEET A "STUPID" SCOT A FUNNY KIND SUPPORTIVE BUT NEVER STUPID!!!!!!

  • listen I'm a Campbell and i know most of you Mcdonalds already hate me... but it doesn't matter which clan we are from! What we need to do is get out of the union England riots and government are going down... and if we are stuck in union we go down too. Also remember Not ALL the campbells fought for the government A son from the campbell cheiftan led some campbells for bonnie prince charlie. Thats just lettin ye Mcdonalds know i don't think poorly of ya. Alba Gu Brath

  • @DrinkToIreland despite being a Campbell you are surpringly CORRECT and some other so called clans coluded with those english scum way before the clan Campbell so 100% agreement [ first time in 321yrs!!!!] from this fellow scot

  • @TheSpiritof45 yep. We campbells sided with bruce way back in scottish wars for independance

  • I HAVE COMMENTED SO MANY TIMES IN RESPONCE TO EVERY campbell STILL GOING ON ABOUT SHITE LISTEN FOR THE FIRST TIME TO A FELLOW SCOT campbells will NEVER BE WELCOME IN COE campbells go home AND STOP ANNOYING US

  • @TheSpiritof45 Aye i'm a campbell? what have ye got against me mate? i did nothin to harm ye that was based on clan wars 100 years ago. If you still feel that way... idc it's you're decision

  • yup , slap a campbell..... THE GREGORACH

  • John Hill. The scapegoat was Campbell of Glenlyon who was in charge of the action but he was well down the line of command overall. Only a small handfull of the troops involved were actually Campbells. Edinburgh and London could say "look at these Highland savages butchering each other again" when in fact it was conceived and planned by those very authorities.

  • @gaconnochie Hill tried to help the McDonalds, it was the master of stair who said that they should be excluded from the list.

  • speaking as a MacDonald, even to this day, i never trust anyone with the name campbell....

  • fucking campbells

  • Up The Campbell's, each and every yin o them

  • the king william was a bastard!!! shame to him!!!

  • @odinkey76 Kind of sensible point you make. It probably suited the Scottish govt and British monarch of the day that the myth should arise that the Campbells did this. Of course they didn't. It was regular regiment of the army that carried it out with orders concoted by the govt in Edinburgh and given ultimate sanction by the King in London. Argyll was the Colonel in Chief of the said regiment but that was only an honorary title. The actual commander of the regiment was an Englishman called

  • Theres still Pubs in Glencoe stating 'Dogs welcome, but NO CAMPBELLS!'

  • @neilfergusonuk True!!! I saw it on the last weekend!!!

  • @neilfergusonuk guess i can't go to them pubs then.... can me dog go in?

  • @neilfergusonuk QUITE RIGHT YOU CAN TRUST A DOG!!!!!

  • @neilfergusonuk QUITE RIGHT YOU CAN TRUST A DOG THEY ARE FRIENDLY AD WOULD NOT MURDER YOUR WHOLE FAMILY IN THE NIGHT SO THE RULE IS PRETTY ODVIOUS!!!!!!!!

  • proud to be scottish and a campbell descendant

  • Hat's off from a ClanRanald husband and Wallace Wife!

  • The Campbell's, Mackenzie and some of the MaClaren.... The MacDonell's have had it hard ---- im MaClaren =)

  • I have Scottish blood on both sides of my family. My father's come from Clan Donald, and my mother's from a sept of Clan MacLaren. So it was completely ironic that the new girl from work came over and she happened to see my sash. She kinda laughed and looked green and said "You're going to hate me now" I asked why, and she said "I'm Campbell" And we stared at each other for a moment, and I kinda laughed and said 'Well that's the only problem you've got!' and I hugged her. I think I shocked her!

  • @LadyAryun

I am Clan MacLaren (Patterson sept) on both sides of the family with Clan Donnachaidh also on my Dad's side. On my Dad's side I also have Campbells and we also joked a bit about being opposite one another at Culloden.

  • @LadyAryun

The ill will toward the Campbells over the massacre of Glencoe is not entirely justified. As noted in this ballad; the massacre was at the order of King William III and was carried out by the King's troops.

Animosity toward the Campbells may be due to the fact the troops were lead by Captain Robert Campbell, although historical documents show that he was coerced with threats that he would be charged with treason and executed if he failed order the attack.

  • anyone ever heard the myth That this war was between vampires and werewolves if so come back to me if you have any info on it

  • I am a MacDonald and proud of it. I can trace back to the slaughter. My relative was berried with no name, just Mac Donald on his headstone

  • I am 1/4 caste Scottish ... an proud of it

  • I am 1/4 caste Scottish ... an proud of it

  • Up the Campbell's! Campbell and proud :D

  • @bairns123 same friend! Ne obliviscaris!

  • @DrinkToIreland Well said!

  • The last Henderson Chief at Glencoe was Dugald MacHendry. The chiefship passed as a result to his daughter's marriage into Clan Donald. Her son, Iain, established the MacHendrys as the hereditary pipers for the MacDonalds of Glencoe. At the time of the Glencoe Massacre, the Hendersons were the bodyguard and pipers for the Chief at Glencoe. I am a Hendry and proud of my heritage.

  • snp suk dik

  • Presbyterians who were re-established in power in turn persecuted the non-juring Anglicans in Scotland. Both sides were as bad as each other. But it was 260 to 370 years ago anyway. The idea that anyone alive today should be tainted is plainly silly. And it is totally irrelevant to modern politics and modern nationalism. Alex Salmond has continually denounced sectarianism in all its forms and it is the last thing the SNP would get mixed up in.

  • I want a real scotsman !!!!

  • MacDonald of Clan Ranald and very proud. Thank you for this post!

  • officers or Highland Chiefs within the Prince's army wanted to invade England as a hostile force either. They only did so once he'd assured them that the English would rise in support of them. When it became apparent that he was in fantasy land they headed back for Scotland to make their stand there.

  • there may have also been some Highlanders in the normal Scottish Regiments some of whom (eg Royal Scots, Royal Scots Fusiliers, KOSB) were at Culloden. the whole idea that it was a Scotland v England is a misnomer. It was the last of a series of civil wars within Scotland itself (and within the other countries too). The fact that, except for the ill-fated manchester regiment, the English Jacobites didn't rise made it more of a Scottish issue but Scotland itself was divided. None of the Scots

  • ranks than some would have you believe. As well as these companies there of course was the Argyll Militia who were basically Campbells and associated clans. Then there was the Black Watch who were basically at that time still all Highlanders. Most of them were at Blackheath outside of London protecting it from a possible French invasion. The Ind Companies were campaigning throughout the Highlands and I don't think they were at Culloden itself though some of the Militia were. Plus of course

  • Though it is all by the by anwyay. It was centuries ago, and I find the history interesting, but it is not worth getting heated up about now.

  • English monarchs. The clan power struggle was won by the Campbells simply because they were in general loyal to the 'Scottish' crown whilst the MacDoanlds (heirs to the Lord of the Isles) saw themselves as rivals to the said crown. The Argyl Campbells only initially fell out with the Stuart monarchs when from their base in London they launched invasions of Scotland to try and force Anglicanism on the Scottish people. ie the so called Bishops Wars which kicked off the civil wars of the 17thC.

  • Because it wasn't a clan dispute. It was the action of the Scottish govt with knowledge of the Scottish monarch. The troops used just happened to be mostly Campbells.

  • @gaconnochie SORRY BUT ABSO BULL IT WAS "KING WILLIAM" THAT ORDERED THE HIERARCHY OF SCOTLAND WERE A DISGRACE ALL THEY WANTED WAS LAND POWER AND TITLE AND WITH MY DEEP RESEARCH READING AND THE RESULTING HONOURS DEGREE THERE WERE IN FACT FEW CAMPELLS INVOLVED AT ALL BUT THE FACT THE CAMPELLS TO THIS DAY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED REMAINS A VITAL LAW TO ALL "TRUE" SCOTSMEN

  • @TheSpiritof45 This is all stuff and nonsense though built on biscuit tin versions of history! Why would true Scotsmen not trust a Campbell? The fact is that prior to Scotland and England sharing a monarch and later a parliament; and prior to the civil wars that ensued over who would sit in the throne; when the two countries were complete seperate and at odds with each other - it was the MacDonalds who stabbed Scotland in the back on at least two occassions by going into the pay of hostile

  • @gaconnochie HEAD BOWED your point has some truth that cant be changed the Campbells wil always be distrusted and i cant change that my views were born from a great interest of my history my culture and yes some of the lit i read was propaganda BUT NO MORE NO LESS THAN ALL THOSE THAT DISAGREE WITH ME THAT IN ITSELF IS GOOD EVERONE HAS A GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO 2 THINGS AN OPINION AND THE RIGHT TO BE FREE FROM ENGLISH RULE!!! i also take a keen interest in ireland best wishes

  • @TheSpiritof45 Everyone has an opinion of course - but everyone's opinions are open to challenge especially if they perhaps seem to be a dislike of anyone based on iffy history. You are doing it again by drawing in the English Rule thing which is totally irrelevant to the Glencoe incident. As I said once James had lost his English power base, from which he'd been persecuting Presbyterians, the Scots themselves branded him a traitor and offered the throne to William and Mary and then the Scots

  • @gaconnochie No lies no false history I have enjoyed exchanging views with you and YES you are for the most part ex accurate can i just say I [JUST ME NO OTHER ] HATE THE CAMPBELLS my real reasons stem from a more recent historical time 2006 my tale is again full of deciet dishonesty back stabbing but relates to me and my EX!!!!!!! please dont think i have no real interest in Scots hist i actualy do but the Campbells are foremost in my head JUST NOW LOL GOOD LUK

  • @gaconnochie one last minor request why do so many Campbell march in July this has always mystified me!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheSpiritof45 It has mystified me why anyone would march - but as Campbell is one of the five most common names in Scotland then I'm not in the least surprised that some Campbells may march. Incidentally I've lived in Scotland for 50 years and have never seen any sectarian marches, from either of the sides, and it is very much associated more with certain areas.

  • @gaconnochie ALL RESPECT J

  • I've tasted their burgers and don't blame them

  • @blissapp I TAKE THIS SUBJECT VERY SERIOUS SOMETIMES TOO SERIOUS BUT 100% APPLAUDS FOR THIS COMMENT ITS FUNNY AND I WILL BE HONEST 10 MINS TO WORK OUT WHAT THE HELL IT MEANT ALL THE BEST

  • @blissapp but i tasted thier soup and hate them more!!!!!!!!!!

  • There's plenty o us MacDonals left yet.

  • @dynamoheadweed YES THERE IS and the Campbells should continue to worry till only one son remains and even then we shall worry them still and come the SCOTTISH revolution the history will demand justice and thier disgusting clan will dine with the devil

  • ma dad sung this when a wiz wee n a knew aw the words n now he's no longa here it brings bk great memories of a great man n a sad sad song . . .r.i.p dad x x x

  • When I say British yes I know that Great Britain wasn't formed until a couple of decades later. One could equally say for these later Stuarts - English or part Scottish/english etc but it is a bit long winded :-)

  • abdication. They simply declared James a traitor and stripped him of the Scottish throne and offered it jointly to William and Mary.

  • Mary Stuart, the Princess Royal, daughter of Charles I and sister of James. Plus of course the main reason he was offered the throne was because of his wife Mary Stuart the daughter of James. The English Parliament declared the English and Irish thrones void after James fled to France. parliament offered the throne to Mary with William as regent but the couple refused to accept it unless William was to be king too. On the other hand the Scottish parliament didn't pretend there had been an

  • I went with Paddy and Maggie Williamson to watch the Corries perform this song in Elgin in 1969. Wonderful music, truly wonderful and an unforgettable night.

  • Aye were a mixed up country right enough.

I was at Glencoe village yesterday on my way to climb Ben Nevis, and the place has

the most spectacular scenery, the past is the past and thats where it should stay.

Im as proud as any Scotsman, but even all these years later the troubles wi the english

and clan against clan ,theres people in our own wee culdesac that dont like us just because o our beliefs, somethings will never change here in Scotland sad to say.

  • @fishgarnock it should be scotland first thay should get the finger out and then maybe again thay dont wont to upset there english masters

  • @delreb Weisht, baw heid. :D

  • @HaniiPuppy nice to see some of our brothers were SO LUCKY to learn some strange lingo when we in the lowlands [juust as proud] have had the ****** english rammed down our throughts BUT COME THE DAY I CAN RECOGNISE MY AIN FOLK WITHOUT WORDS BUT STILL I WILL LOOK INTO THE EYES OF ANY campbell WITH DISGUST AND DISDAIN NEVER FORGET YOUR AIN GOD BLESS KING JAMES

  • @TheSpiritof45 Campbell and proud, Scottish and proud. " Those days are past now and in the past they must remain " :)

  • @bairns123 There is much myth and nonsense written on this subject anyway. Or sometimes not written. During the Civil War period (1640s) the MacDonald bards openly boasted about killing 900 Campbells without a sword being lifted in defense. One can only read that as unarmed men, and probably women and children, being massacred. Both clans committed far worse atrocities against each other (as did other clans) than Glencoe. They were in essence all as bad as each other. Why Glencoe stands out is

  • @gaconnochie well said!

  • @bairns123 SORRY "CAMPELL AND PROUD" IS NOT GRAMATICLY CORRECT WELL DONE FOR BEING "SCOTTISH" A LOT OF YOUR CLAN WILL BE MARCHING BELOW THE BANNERS OF THAT HORSE HUMPING ORANGE GAYLORD IN JULY THAT I CANT STAND NO TRUE SCOTSMAN WOULD TRUELY FOLLOW THAT FLAG WE HAVE OUR OWN ONE!!!!!! BUT I HOPE AND PRAY THAT ONE DAY ALL SCOTLAND WILL STAND CLAN ON CLAN NOT TO FIGHT BUT TO SHOW WERE STILL HERE AND OUR CULTURE WILL NEVER BE TAKEN FROM US BY ANYONE AND NEVER DILUTED

  • @TheSpiritof45 It wasn't gramatically correct, but then it was 7am and an honest man must accept that mistakes will be made. Unless ofcourse, naturally your "TheSpirit of45"in which case you suddenly become the complete image of perfection, drowning in your own pool of unbiased knowledge ( aye right ! ). I was in glen coe today climbing the pap of glencoe, a most beautiful mountain after which i headed to the local pub, a pub supposedly famed for it's "anti-Campbell" attitude- load of nonsense.

  • @bairns123 DROVERS i think well they failed in thier duty but of course you would not be in your clan colours prob RED COATS so maybe your not really welcome as you did as always hide your identity by the way the reference to grammer was HONEST CAMPELL nothing else all the very best go to gourock and try the the speed boat its brilllllll

  • @TheSpiritof45 Your not an idiot, but perhaps it wouldn't be unwise to tone down some of your anti-campbell feelings and opinions. We're not all bad. I heard somewhere there were a few Campbells fought alongside the prince at Culloden, how true that is I don't know. Ne Obliviscaris.

  • @bairns123 "there were a few Campbells fought alongside the prince at Culloden" Goes both ways too. Many MacDonalds stood aloof and didn't get involved at all but there were also MacDonalds campaigning for the Hanovarians. Of the 18 Independent Companies under Loudon 2 were raised by the MacDonalds of Sleat. Of the others 5 were raised by Macleods, 3 Mackenzies, 2 Sutherlands, 2 Mackays, Grants, Munros, Rosses and one by the town of Inverness. There were far more Highlanders in the Hanovarian

  • @TheSpiritof45 your argument ( I hesitate to call it that ) seems based on hatred and anger rather than anything else, rather than anything constructive. I have no time for that sort of thing either however. going by your theory I probably should, I'm sorry but I find that baffling. I love Scotland, always have and always will. aas a love and passion given to me from my father who passed away recently - another Campbell and surprise surprise another great man.

  • @bairns123 100% APOLOGY and i dont have to do that often BUT should my love for scotland is not definable i hold no Brittish passport i head north on holiday its magnetic to me the hills the glens the midges!!!!! that is ours and always will my heart felt sympathies at your difficult time i lost my father last year and please do not take any negative views on comments made by an idiot like me god bless your dad

  • @bairns123 Hi i was partaking of the ale last night with some friends and with shame i now have to face my comments please accept my sincere apologies if i offended you in any way i do have arogant nationalist views and a perverted view of history perhaps the ability to SHUT UP would be of use to me best wishes jamie
