I think the reason the floor tom is on Pat's left side is because he wants to maintain visual contact with Dan Auerbach when he's using that drum. Still, shouldn't he be using his left hand?

interesting... he sings in a higher pitch during live performance its seem, usually it's the other way around. love that cutting tone! any tips on getting, i love playing with fuzz (face) and its never quite that sharp. is it the fender amp?

@TheZionXIIIGuy things to help you get that sound... a humbucker guitar, setting your pickup to the bridge with tone up a bit, and a tube amp. not just any tube amp tho, Dan uses a Fender Super Reverb quite a bit and a Marshall Plexi. those amps are pricey tho, and you won't be spending a ton of money replacing blown tubes like the other dude said, unless you feel like putting your volume all the way up... which is not wise haha. hope this helped, cheers

@TheZionXIIIGuy The clean parts is totally the Fender. You can hear the reverb when he plays the opening riffs.

IMO, I think Dan has the best fuzz and clean tones I've heard. He uses a pretty simple setup but it's kinda of a tricky sound to achieve. I believe he once said that he gets his amps to the point of overdrive but right at the sweet spot where the fuzz doesn't "sound farty"

I've got a vintage Fender Super Reverb, saving up for the Marshall..

@MrSzechuansteve The Black Keys only have 2 official members. The guys in the back are touring/studio musicians.

@MrSzechuansteve The Black keys write and record all of their own music. But in studio they play bass parts, keyboard parts, and doubletrack vocals. Since there are only 2 members in the band, they can't play all of that live, it would require more than 2 people. So when they go on the road they have musicians that travel with them that play the extra instrumental parts that the Black Keys cannot play. Green Day does the same thing, they doubletrack guitar, so they need an extra guitarist.

Pat Metheny plays the greatest jazz guitar ever with the ugliest technique and Tony Williams, Miles Davis' great drummer from the early 60s onward sped up and slowed down all the time, especially the 'Four and More' concert of i think '63. But music is about energy not standards, so it's all good!
