  • wow, I love it, it's so lively and beautiful!

  • You should at least tell people that this is a DUO-ART piano roll recording.

  • A sparkling piece of music!!!

  • Usually I do not listen to modern music, but when I do, I listen to this.

  • Did anyone else notice there are no bars? O.o

  • @ConcertoInX Its in "free time".

  • Ok so I have called the local big sheet music suppliers such as Long & McQuade etc, but no one has this music and they cannot find a publisher currently publishing it. Is there a way I can get a copy of this online or directly to my email from you? I would be incredibly grateful as it would save me from having to write this whole thing out by hand. Can anyone please help? Thank you.

  • @Chakiejan

    Here, i found one :)

  • Why is there no time signature?

  • @Kalen1457 beacuse evwen to me it would be frustrating to see each notes beeat and count thwem

  • Adam he's just fluttering the pedal. Unfortunately the effect is hard to notice on this recording. Maybe live it would be better. Or maybe if I had better headphones?

  • Brilliant!

  • What is the sound in between the arpeggios? Such as at 0:08 , it sounds as though the pianist is repeatedly pressing and depressing one of the pedals.

  • Reminds me of Chopin in places (an etude in F or F# I think)

  • Search youtube for "Josef Hofmann plays Hofmann The Sanctuary " - original recording of Hofmann himself playing this

  • Wonderful piece of music! Need 3 hands at 1,20!

  • Takes you on a very intense journey.... I feel so uplifted.

  • tried this piece and got owned pretty fast.

    Hoffman is some genius alright!

  • Oooooooooooo

  • Hi musicaignotus, once again great post. Who is the pianist?

  • Wow, fighting over a solitary musical note! There's a first. I personally have a grudge against middle C. Sitting there. Giving me the evils. I think he's arrogant...

  • What an amazing piece!! Unfortunately only a few compositions of Hofmann are well known. I mention the Kaleidoscope Op. 40 so very well played by the Hofmann pupil Shura Cherkassky. There are 2 renditions on Y.T. i noticed. Shame these pieces are not played in the concert-halls anymore these days

  • @ch252525 You consider yourself a music critic because you think you noticed a wrong note in someone's performance? You're clearly deluded. If you want to critique someone's playing, say something substantive, otherwise STFU.

  • God damn it ravel

  • @SepiaLatimanus Ravel is very different from this, no, no Ravel here. If you mean these harp-like structures, why necessarily Ravel? No Ravel has popped up my mind throughout the entire piece. I think of Ravel when listening to Grieg, lol)

  • I think there was a mistake at around 0:28

  • @thespleenenator after checking the scores... and listening it a lot... I think the same, though I'm really not sure

  • @thespleenenator Then post a file of yourself playing it flawlessly, or else just STFU.

  • @Litawyn I'd say the spleenenator was probably making a joke.

  • One of the few fast songs that I acctually find beautiful

  • Where did you find this Sheet music?

  • Incredible!

  • WWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  • That stuff is too easy... well, you know the first measure is...

  • @TheExarion and then the second measure is about 2 minutes long

  • @huzzzzzzahh xD ikr

  • Would you possibly have the year this was written?? thanks

  • Try the live acoustic recording. It's on here someplace. This piano roll seems poorly reproduced and mechanical.

  • Tiens, où sont les barres de mesure?

  • So who is the living metronome at the piano? Great fingers; no soul. Hamelin? Try the beautiful recordings by Martin Jones of Hofmann himself.

  • @daveA3535 really agreed! Puts me in the bad mood already in the introductory bar, where he cuts off the sound in the fermata. No shape, just flash, I think hamlin is better than that

  • Great!!!!!

  • Whats the time signature?

  • @ClassicalMusicFan521 Contemporary classical music don't have time signature and key signature because of a lot of tuplets and dissonaces/clusters!

  • Beautiful!!! Where I can find an available cd of this music?

  • Beautiful!!! Where I can find an available cd of this music?

  • the funny thing is that this work only has two measures and yet its too good.

  • Amazing..

  • I was shoched that this was Hofmann. On the page it is really unconventional stilllate romantic but writing very different! JosefHofmann I presume.Genius in all departments!

  • Very skilled and gifted! Superb!

  • 1:19~1:37... I think I need five more fingers...

  • @felix0911176727

It's hard to believe, but you really need only 8 fingers for this part ;)

  • The opening and the ending reminds me of the announcement jingles at shopping malls and the like. Really good.

  • Would this be Josef Hofmann, the pianist?

  • wow the sheer skill involved...

  • This is good piano music!

  • Very spectacular !
