For all the people asking how he squats so fast, the answer is because of his Olympic Weightlifting background, he has trained to be explosive, strength+speed=power
What was with the shit eater in the audience at the end with his frowning and head shaking, and what was with the one red light? This squat was deep by powerlifting standards and with the speed he descended there's no way his gear was at all tight. Shane Hamman easily had the raw strength that Rezazedeh did, but his form in the Olympic lifts was just trash. It's a pity.
pat mendes will not beat this record, although he posseses the strength and athletisism, and time is on his side. Pat Mendes does not squat in competition, he does the oly lifts. Shane Hamman moved to oly lifting and represented the United States after setting some records powerlifting. Let's see Pat dominate oly lifting for the US, win some gold, and then move to powerlifting and set some more records. Damn dive bombed it Shane!
@ofnair soft, how do you figure? The Outlaw suit Hatfield wore in the mid 80's could give you 100+lbs. By the early 90's 150-175 wasn't uncommon from a poly suit. Knee wraps alone can give you 50-75lbs. You should have heard people bitching about gear back then, it would spin your head.

pat mendes will be able to beat his record he can squat 800 with just knee wraps and no belt no suit
nboozie29 1 year ago
@nboozie29 shane's actual record is 1008. either way, 800 raw doesn't suddenly become 960 with single ply.
bretchet23 10 months ago
@bretchet23 - getting over 100lb is very common. I got 100lb out of a single ply suit the first time I ever tried it.

@nboozie29 Pat didn't use knee wraps...he was using knee sleeves wich gives you no support at all.
