Nice jeep, I like the old cj5s better than any other model jeep. They usually look rough and have that good short wheel base. All of the guys with "nice" new jeeps look like pencil pushers who drive their jeep on the road 95% of the time and by the time they actually go offroad their big bad tires are bald from driving to the grocery store for their wife, lol

We built up a '47 cj2a with the 231 even-fire backed by a turbo 350, and lastly i just finished my '50 cj3a with the 231 to the t-90. I love them! go right in the old flat fenders and all the adapters are out there.

I got a question if anyone knows the answer. I was recently given a 1961 cj5 and obviously it has no seat belts. In my my state you can go get a ticket just for not wearing a seat belt so do I need to install some or is it excused?

well where i am if youre vehicle was made before seat belts were mandatory you are grandfathered in to the law, meaning you dont need it. Idk if its like that by you but i would assume you should be fine w/o them.

update on this jeep, the frame broke into 3 pieces while beating it pretty hard.  this jeep was just driven hard and put away wet all the time. it lasted forever and all the drivetrain is still good. LoL!!! i have more vids of this jeep, check them out.

Thats rad that it preforms that well with just a body lift and 35s. thats it? looks like its all that AMC quality needed.

35" tires. and still have plenty of clearence.

Its function not looks. I saw a jeep with a 6 inch rock crawler lift and 32s. i also was like why the hell man? but the dude has over three feet of travel on a single tire. i can roll over a three foot boulder like nothing. i would agree that it looks pretty gay. but gets the crawling done. in mud? he would be stuck in a second.
