this is one of the songs were.... i'd prefer Diamond heads truly heavy metal vocals over this one. I admire the instruments in this, just can't stand that singing.

@slayyer000 I'm not saying that the instrumentation is bad, I'm just saying that death metal in general is something I don't like. To me it gives the impression of trying to make the sound more "evil" and dark by sacrificing the singing aspect of the music. It's fine if you enjoy that "growling" stuff, but I don't understand why anyone would find that pleasing to the ear.

Far From Home has AMAZING VOCALS and an incredibly moving score behind it. It's fucking amazing. I didn't believe it was the same singer for the longest time, No One Gets Left Behind has some amazing thrash and growl vocals, as well as some beautiful choral vocals to it. Not all metal is good. Shit like this is garbage.

@AbsoluteJake Darker does not equal higher quality. Personally I hate death metal, I feel like it sacrifices well-sounding vocals in order to obtain a more evil tone. I prefer Mercyful Fate and King Diamond in general because he is able to obtain that feeling of spookyness, and evil without sacrificing the singing aspect of the song.

@TheTurtleVillage For me, I never really had a problem with the vocals, but I definitely know I am in the minority with the viewpoint. And indeed there are many old school style death metal bands that get their creepiness purely from vocals. Some may disagree with me, but I think Cannibal Corpse is one of them. It is a little bit harder to discuss Immolation in the same way since they compose completely differently and you can hear it in a piano version of one their songs.
