  • Nice setup. I like it very much.

7 min in garage is ok. If it would be melting snow it could be up to 30minutes. In hot summer it can be 2min.

For me boiling tests are not ok, because results can differ because of many things...

  • How long will it cook for...what is Esbit? Let me know some of your info so I can see if I can cook water at 165 degrees F to purify it.

  • I never saw that in swiss army ^^

  • ALUMINUM=ALZHEIMERS

  • hi this stove is designed to run on anything that will burn that you can put in the bottom of it, its like the kelly kettle just simpler. Normally just use twigs and dung , if you want to keep it clean pop in a trangia burner.

  • i made one out of a soup can that works just as well and boils water in about 10 minutes.

  • Just a note for clean up.

On my alcohol gasification stoves, I noticed that a paper dry paper towel will do most of the work for you. do it in the wind with the wind behind you. then a little alcohol will do the rest. every other way just stains up clothes and makes a bigger mess. I had to use my stove for about 6 months, and I figured that you could use the tip from my experience.

  • would charcoal and alcohol work as a fuel source?

  • I don't see why not. You might want to protect the bottom of the stove with some sand to keep the high heat off the aluminum to keep it from melting.

  • how does the stove, cup and bottle pack up?

  • If your going to take this stove to the Field, use the esbit tabs and as for the alcohol, us everclear alcohol "190 proof" ; You can cook with it and it makes one Good "Go to Sleep drink" for in the tent !

  • Wood is the fuel of last resort with the Swiss Ranher stove. Alcohol, esbit or triox is best.

  • good job! thanks for doing the science test

  • cool stuff- thanks

  • I'm surprised how sooty the esbit is but then I haven't used in more then once or twice and that was many years ago.

  • I learned something new today with the esbit and alcohol! When you do the wood just use twigs, big cuncks of hard wood warp the stove! I guess thats too much heat! I still think a little Alcohol stove on a booster seat is the ticket! I forgot to mention that my friend built another stove out of two bottoms of the aluminum bottles that fits through the hole and works great as well, just have to add fuel to it after it is placed insde the volcano. Or tip it on its side and then put the stove in!

  • very nice. Always scientifically done. I would love the chance to look at your notebook

  • Thassss wha I allays say, a lil alll-co-hall takes the edge awf.

  • good job man! Thanks.
