It is impossible to use the prospective tool on a sphere and have it look good because it moves it like a 2 demential object because it is an image. so it will come out like a oval like if you were to tilt a disk. you would need a 3d model or something to get it from a different angel.

if you need to save an image with a transparent background for use with another image in the gimp it's better to save it in gimps .xcf format because it is totally non-destructive and it can be opened as a layer.

Small tip: if you're using dodge, screen or another addition based blending for the layer you can leave black backgrouond untouched as it becomes transparent anyways. This may save a lot of time. Similarly for multiplication, burn, etc white colour becomes transparent.

only thing I gotta say is you should have fliped the background, where the light is coming in the backround img, that light is coming left to right.

and the deathstar even though is in space shouldnt have that hard shadow thats going right to left, just flip the background IMG and it will look more realistic. alos you should let the deathstar appear as though its a little closer since its metal maybe you wana add some shining glints of light reflecting off its surface.
